Main purpose / objective of the position:
- Provide a highly effective and efficient council liaison and technical service that will ensure that queries logged in terms of utility accounts for client are followed up and concluded correctly and timeously to assist the client in achieving uninterrupted utilities supply at the lowest cost.
Role Objectives \ Responsibilities:
- To receive queries and requests for investigations from clients and colleagues
- Research, analyse and produce an effective plan of action to resolve queries
- Conduct field audit investigations
- Timely capture of all the queries in the relevant tracker
- Immediately action and handle all follow up, negotiation, planning and coordination with Municipalities and/or Landlords to effectively implement corrections
- Maintain query tracker with up-to-date meaningful comment on previous actions, next steps and scheduled dates sheets and provide status updates to completion at least bi-weekly
- Analyse meter readings and tariffs to ensure cost reflective recovery
- Prepare reconciliations as and when required
- Ensure deadlines are met in accordance with the SLA’s as per the contracts
- Compile monthly reports accurately and timeously
- Report any abnormalities in terms of costs and recoveries
- Ensure all changes are properly added to the workflow and are implemented within SLA timelines
- Ensure all queries raised are properly added to the workflow and are resolved and responded to within SLA timelines
- Meet with clients when needed to resolve queries
Experience / Education:
- Senior Certificate with maths
- At least 5 years minimum experience within the utility’s environment
Knowledge Required:

Main Purpose / Objective of the Position
- Continual focus on the optimisation of utility costs and recoveries by providing financial, legal and technical analysis and reporting of utility related costs and the continual training and development of the broader team across the utility spectrum.
Objectives/Responsibilities:
- Conduct financial, legal and technical analysis and reporting of utility costs and recoveries to ensure accurate monthly reporting.
- Proactively take ownership and drive the identifying and ensuring optimal operational efficiencies.
- Provide regular research relating to new opportunities in the field of utility management and providing training and development thereof to the team.
- Analyse and compile data that is essential to the reporting of ESG data to the client.
- Assist leasing team(s) with verification and resolution of utility related queries.
- Communicate, investigate and resolve queries via phone, email and/or meetings to be initiated.
- Track and maintain benefit tracking of optimization opportunities implemented
Experience / Education:
- Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent qualification and/or training
- 5+ years relevant experience in the utility field
- Knowledge of South African Municipal procedures and accounting processes
- Detailed knowledge and experience working with Municipal and Eskom tariffs and bylaws
