    Kitchen Manager

    Key Responsibilities

    Stock & Kitchen Operations

    • Implement and uphold all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Oversee daily stock control of food, beverages, and equipment.
    • Conduct and reconcile weekly/monthly stock counts.
    • Manage procurement and ensure accurate reporting.
    • Reduce wastage through efficient stock management and portion control.
    • Maintain equipment, monitor food storage, and ensure compliance with hygiene and temperature standards.

    Health, Safety & Compliance

    • Lead HACCP implementation and promote a strong safety culture.
    • Conduct regular hygiene inspections and attend monthly Health & Safety meetings.
    • Ensure compliance with the Department of Health and internal standards.
    • Promptly report and investigate all incidents or hazards.

    Team Leadership & Training

    • Supervise and mentor scullers and kitchen staff.
    • Conduct regular check-ins and provide constructive feedback.
    • Train team members on SOPs, hygiene standards, and safe kitchen practices.
    • Oversee onboarding and induction of new employees.

    Administration & Reporting

    • Complete and submit accurate operational reports.
    • Manage kitchen assets, utensils, and equipment.
    • Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives.

    Qualifications

    • Matric (essential)
    • Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts
    • Advanced Certificate in Kitchen Management (advantageous)
    • Food Safety/Hygiene Certification (required)

     Experience & Skills

    • Previous experience in kitchen or hospitality management
    • Strong knowledge of food service operations and health & safety
    • Computer literate (Google, particularly Excel)
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills
    • Ability to manage under pressure and maintain high standards
    • Professional appearance and attitude with excellent customer service

    Driver - Temporary

    Job Description

    • The Faircape Group seeks an experienced and licensed Driver (Temporary basis) for our facility Heritage Manor in Somerset West.
    • The Driver will be responsible for transporting residents and/or staff and represent the company in a professional manner at all times.

    Duties include but are not limited to the following:

    Transporting Residents

    • Transporting staff by bus between designated parking points and the estate
    • Driving for the village and transporting residents on trips
    • Be available on an ad hoc basis for resident trips after hours and over weekends

    Safekeeping of Company Vehicle 

    • Do daily checks on the vehicle to ensure it is clean, tyres are in good order, enough oil, and no scratches and dents. Report any anomalies to the manager
    • Abide by all traffic laws when driving the vehicle
    • Take care of the vehicle whilst driving and parking
    • Park golf cart/bus in the allocated parking bay when not in use and when on breaks

    Administration and Reporting 

    • Assist Client Services Officer with sorting of newspapers and other post (notices) to be put in the post boxes
    • Complete driving logs and other reports as requested by the manager

    Experience: 

    • Relevant driving experience with passengers in the tourism industry or retirement village is preferable
    • Previous experience driving a 23-seater passenger bus

    Skills and Knowledge: 

    • Good communication skills
    • Fluent in English

    Chef De Partie

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Oversee the entire cooking process from preparation to plating, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
    • Prepare and cook all dishes according to company recipes and specifications, ensuring consistency in taste, portion control and presentation.
    • Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly, following standard operating procedures at all times.
    • Maintain strict adherence to food hygiene, safety, and health regulations for yourself and the team.
    • Monitor compliance with company policies to ensure a safe, clean, and organized kitchen environment.
    • Ensure all café meals are prepared to the highest standard of quality and presentation.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of café fridges, labeling and dating all items according to company procedures.
    • Monitor inventory and stock rotation to reduce waste and maintain quality standards.

    Qualifications:

    • Chef's diploma / qualification from a registered tertiary education provider

    Requirements and Experience: 

    • Experience in food quality management and standardisation
    • Strong focus on quality and adherence to sanitation procedures
    • Excellent physical condition and stamina
    • Ability to travel and relieve colleagues at other facilities only when required

    Skills and Knowledge:

    • Ability to follow sanitization procedures
    • Consistently focus on maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of food preparation and service
    • Proven track record of delivering exceptional food quality in every dish
    • In-depth understanding of food handling procedures to ensure safety and quality
    • Proficient in various cooking and baking techniques and methods
    • Knowledge of health and safety requirements in a kitchen environment
