    Specialist Media Relations and Publications (C3)

    Key Responsibilities The ideal candidate should be able to fulfil and perform the following key responsibilities: 

    • Efficiently and effectively implement and evaluate the impact of the media relations plans/strategy ensuring delivery according to approved policy and procedures 
    • End-to-end responsibility for internal and external publications, ensuring efficient and effective planning, execution and delivery according to the SETA needs, requirements and specifications 
    • Manage day-to-day media relations/media requests across all platforms, for brand and corporate issues to enhance and/or promote merSETA brand 
    • Close collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team to execute plans for brand building, corporate promotions, internal communications and corporate affairs 
    • Develop written materials including speeches, press releases, talking points, media standby statements on brand and corporate issues as required 
    • Build relationships with key media contacts and identify opportunities to proactively pitch brand and corporate stories through all media channels, including social media as appropriate 
    • Develop and implement brand PR programmes, in accordance with approved communication plans/strategies, to support brand building initiatives/innovation/
    • Edit written communication messages/news before distribution to internal and external audiences. 
    • Serve as media liaison between the merSETA and various media outlets 
    • Initiate, plan, coordinate and oversee media networking sessions to build and maintain strong relationships with the media 
    • Efficient and effective implementation of publications strategy 
    • Edit and proofread articles and other organisational documents 
    • Support marketing efforts to expand the reach of publications and other resources and develop new initiatives to ensure appropriate information is shared with the right audiences via available channels 
    • Coordinate inventory management of print publications 
    • Develop budget to ensure the production of external magazines, corporate brochures and any other publications as required 
    • Knowledge-sharing, documentation of information and informing key stakeholders on new information when required  

    Qualifications and Experience 

    • 3-year National Diploma or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification in Journalism 
    • Bachelor Degree or equivalent NQF Level 7 or higher qualification in Journalism will be advantageous 
    • Public Relations, Media Studies or related field will be advantageous 
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience working as a writer and/or editor 
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a media relations role or in public relations. 
    • Experience working with journalists, news outlets and press agencies 
    • Strong background in content writing, editing and publication management 
    • Experience in crisis communication and reputation management

    Key Responsibilities 

    The ideal candidate should be able to fulfil and perform the following key responsibilities: 

    • Sound, effective, and efficient administration of all records and information including to enable easy accessibility, accuracy, and comprehensiveness of information. 
    • Attend, handle and respond to all Stakeholder queries ensuring amiable and timeous resolution 
    • Complete Learner Registrations accurately and timeously ensuring all required information is captured accurately and according to procedure 
    • When required prepare Tranche Payments T2, T3 and T4 ensuring all information required is attached and saved for easy accessibility. 
    • Advise and support stakeholders on processes, procedures, and information relating to skills development issues 
    • Provide guidance and support to Levy Paying Members in navigating the application procedures for Mandatory and Discretionary Grants 
    • Provide accurate feedback from the Regional Office to the Central Liaison ensuring clear and efficient flow of information between Regional Office and Head Office, including all aspects related to Regional Office and Skills Forum Administration 
    • Maintain efficient office management processes aligned with secretarial best practices, involving record-keeping systems, correspondence, communication, report generation and payment requisitions 
    • Logistics management for travel arrangements and event coordination as needed by the regional office for roadshows and events 
    • Oversee and supervise all apprenticeship related matters including trade test bookings, transfers, recission: 24 A, and timelines of learner and apprenticeship programs in alignment with the Quality Management System (QMS) 
    • Administer all aspects of the suspension process for Apprentices and Learners 

    Qualifications and Experience 

    • 3-year Diploma or equivalent NQF level 6 Qualification in Business Administration/ Office Administration/ Commerce/ Project Management/ Training or related field 
    • 1 year experience in Administration and Customer Relations in a SETA environment

    Specialist: Contracts & Compliance (C5)

    Key Responsibilities 

    The ideal candidate should be able to fulfill and perform the following key responsibilities: 

    • Assist to develop, implement, and manage a contract management framework consisting of approach, controls, policy, procedures, and templates for utilization by all departments and units in the SETA. 
    • Development of contractual templates for utilization by the SETA aligned with legislation and to avert the SETA from potential legal implications or consequences. 
    • Ensure an accurate list of contracts entered between the SETA and other organisations as well as generate reports on the status of existing agreements, including all addendums. 
    • Continuously monitor the status of all contracts and transactional agreement against effectiveness and consistency of utilization of the contract management framework across the SETA to mitigate potential risk and provide advice and support. 
    • Up-date and monitor the overall contract register/dashboard for the SETA on a weekly basis and flag potential risks on the contract register/dashboard and ensure management is informed. 
    • Provide guidance, support and advice on contract matters to departments, business units, committees, and regions. 
    • Assist in the drafting of contracts for sign-off by the relevant contract custodian. 
    • Develop and manage and update a regulatory universe, framework as well as the Compliance policy. 
    • Provide for formal and structured monitoring of the Compliance Requirements. 
    • Assist management and the organisation in discharging its responsibility to comply with Compliance Requirements through continuous monitoring of compliance issues. 
    • Develop and implement a compliance plan. 
    • Train and educate employees and management on all compliance related procedures ensuring in- depth understanding of potential risks and implications for the SETA on non- compliance. 
    • Custodian of BBBEE ensuring SETA comply to legislation and all procedures are implemented efficiently. 
    • Ensure performance against set individual and respective contracts and compliance delivery targets. 
    • Continuously track, monitor, and measure Contracts & Compliance and individual performance against set standards and performance targets. 
    • Provide formal, standard-reporting and feedback, ensuring accurate, up-to-date status on Contracts & Compliance performance. 

    Qualifications and Experience 

    Essential Qualifications: 

    • LLB or Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Law/equivalent legal qualification (NQF level 8) 
    • Must be an admitted attorney or advocate of the High Court of South Africa 

    Experience Requirements: 

    • Minimum 7 years' post-qualification experience in legal and compliance 
    • Demonstrated experience in contract management and drafting 
    • Experience in regulatory compliance and risk management 
    • Experience in developing and implementing compliance frameworks 

    Advantageous:

    • Experience as in-house counsel 
    • Public sector/SETA experience (minimum 3 years) 
    • Experience with BBBEE compliance and verification 
    • Experience in conducting legal training and workshops
