    Business Improvement Specialist, D1, KNL115/25GS

    The role:

    • The Business Improvement Analyst is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing digital and analytical solutions that drive operational efficiency, enhance reporting accuracy, and support strategic decision-making across the business.
    • The role requires strong technical capability, excellent data interpretation skills, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    Application Development

    • Implement the Business Improvement mandate at operation by facilitating initiatives/business case development and tracking BI improvement
    • Design, develop, and maintain fit-for-purpose applications and digital tools to support business processes and operational improvement
    • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure solutions are user-centric, reliable, and scalable
    • Provide ongoing support, updates, and optimisation of developed applications
    • Ensure conformance to governance and project sign-off by identifying project risks and effective management and tracking of projects and value delivery
    • Develop and implement communication and change strategy per initiative through facilitating BI communication at the operation and ensuring buy in and commitment on initiatives
    • Contribute to the Operational Team cohesion and effectiveness
    • Manage the control room and assist in compiling daily production

    Business Intelligence & Reporting

    • Develop and manage Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models that provide accurate, real-time insights for operational and strategic decision-making
    • Ensure data integrity, consistent refresh cycles, and alignment with business performance indicators

    Presentation Development

    • Create high-quality, visually strong PowerPoint presentations that clearly communicate analysis outcomes, trends, and recommendations
    • Translate data into compelling narratives that support executive reporting, business reviews, and project updates

    Data Acquisition & Integration

    • Source, extract, and consolidate data from various electronic and operational platforms (e.g., SCADA systems, operational portals, ERP systems, IoT devices)
    • Develop processes and pipelines to automate data collection and ensure reliability of inputs

    Data Analysis & Insights

    • Conduct detailed analysis to identify performance gaps, bottlenecks, risks, and improvement opportunities
    • Validate data accuracy and perform trend, scenario, and root-cause analyses
    • Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives

    Required Skills & Competencies

    • Strong technical capability in app development (Power Apps or equivalent)
    • Advanced Power BI skills including DAX, modelling, and dashboard design
    • Excellent PowerPoint skills with the ability to create clear, impactful narratives from complex data
    • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities
    • Good understanding of industrial data systems such as SCADA, historians, and digital operational platforms
    • Ability to work with large datasets and ensure accuracy and consistency
    • Strong problem-solving and process-improvement mindset
    • Ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
    • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills

    Requirements:

    • Diploma / Degree in Engineering, Mining, Industrial Engineering or a related field
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Mining, Process or Maintenance Engineering field within the Mining industry, of which 3 years should preferably be in Coal Mining in a Supervisory role
    • Minimum of 3 years Business Improvement experience or a related field
    • Minimum of 3 years Project Management experience
    • Valid driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Advantageous:

    • Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency
    • Underground and/or Opencast Blasting Certificate
    • Automation of production reports
    • Collect Relevant Information to produce presentations
    • Ensure contractor Compliance and governance
    • Automation of reports from Power BI
    • Good working knowledge of the Coal Mining Process for both Underground and Opencast
    • Computer Skills – (MS Office Suite)

    Community Scholarship, KNL121/25GS

    The role:

    • The purpose of the Community Scholarship Scheme is to invest in further education initiatives for individuals within our direct communities. The scheme supports top students from the community to obtain tertiary education in any field of study at a recognised and registered Higher Education and Training Institution (mainstream South African University or the University of Technology).  

    Application requirements (Who can apply?):

    • Current Grade 12 learners that have been provisionally accepted for study at a registered Higher Education Training Institution (HET) for 2026
    • University students that are currently studying towards a Degree/Diploma in any discipline and any year of study at a registered HET
    • Sponsorship is available for accredited courses only (courses that meet the standard of the (NQF) National Qualifications Framework, from Level 6)

    Protection Officer, C2, KNL061/25GS

    The role:

    • The role is responsible for security services to protect company assets, employees, contractors, visitors and facilities in operations, as well as ensuring safety of security personnel.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Effective security personnel oversee and ensure that the deployment of security staff is in accordance with requirements
    • Ensure that security personnel carry out their duties in accordance with established standards and procedures
    • Ensure that security incidents are reported immediately and that investigations are conducted accordingly
    • Ensure that you maintain ethical standards and the confidentiality of information
    • Ensure that all security areas are functioning properly, including the security control room, armed response unit, drones, access/ egress control services, weighbridge operations, security systems and the maintenance of security infrastructures

    • National Advanced Certificate/Equivalent (2 years)
    • Registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) - Minimum Grade B
    • Valid Firearm competency certificate
    • Minimum 3 years of uninterrupted service within Protection Services/Security or similar role
    • In-depth experience as a Security Officer
    • Knowledge in CCTV and alarms
    • Knowledge of Security systems and processes

    Training Instructor, C3, KNL112/25GS

    The role:

    • The purpose of the role is to provide an effective and efficient technical training service to the clients / employees.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Schedule, facilitate and conduct theoretical, practical and simulator training
    • Schedule and arrange competency assessments
    • Follow up on PTO’s in preparation for the 180-day license renewals
    • Complete required documentation for licensing and obtain signatures

    • Certificate in Occupational Directed ETP Practice (Including Coach the Learner)
    • Related Machine Certificates
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Mining Operator
    • Sound knowledge of the coal mining industry
    • Relevant equipment licenses
    • Computer literacy in MS Office
    • Valid K53 driver’s license with own transport
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
