    Senior Maintenance Engineer

    Position Overview

    To ensure machines and equipment in designated area are maintained toward meeting targets. Accountable for Supervision of the execution on electrical, mechanical maintenance work and statutory compliance. Accountable for Supervision of the execution on civil and facilities maintenance work and statutory compliance. To ensure compliance to the MHSA and regulations.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Lead in developing maintenance budgets, monitoring/controlling maintenance costs to find opportunities for improvement
    • Develop maintenance procedures, methods, and testing
    • Technical support for repair methods for installed equipment and rotables - expert in diagnosing faults and repairing equipment
    • Support craftsmen performing difficult or major maintenance work and responding to critical equipment faults
    • Troubleshooting equipment breakdowns (i.e. resource for the Maintenance Supervisors)
    • Inspecting critical jobs to verify the work is performed correctly
    • Partners with the Maintenance Coordinator to support improvement in quality and efficiency
    • Provide skill-based training to craftsmen on specific equipment in the plant and general
    • Acts as a relief for other leaders in the Maintenance Organization (Manager, R&I Lead, Planning Lead, Coordinator)

    Learning and Development Specialist

    Primary Responsibilities

    This role is accountable for:

    Training

    • Facilitation of training, including operational, leadership, soft skills training, among other interventions
    • Track and analyze effectiveness of training programs and impact on the job
    • Conducting training needs analysis and identifying employee’s training needs.

    Project Resident Engineer

    Position Overview

    The role of a Resident Engineer (2.13.1 engineer) under the Mine Health and Safety Act involves significant responsibilities related to ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of machinery, buildings, structures, and tanks within a mining environment. This role is crucial for creating and maintaining a safe working environment and preventing accidents or hazards within mining operations.

    Primary Responsibilities

    This role is accountable for:

    • Report to the Project Manager.
    • Appointed as 2.13.1 Subordinate Engineer under the Mine Health and Safety Act, responsible for the following:
      • Safe installation, proper operation, running, and maintenance of all machinery
      • Safe erection and maintenance of all buildings, structures, and tanks.
      • Ensuring that safety appliances, mechanisms, and guards are maintained in good condition.
      • Compliance with regulations relating to machinery.
      • Stopping the work of any apparatus or machine that may pose a danger to individuals.
      • Additionally, the 2.13.1 engineer must work within the framework of the Mine Health and Safety Act to uphold safety standards and protect individuals working at Tronox sites.
    • Ensuring Health and Safety standards are implemented, Continuously assess, always maintained and provide assistance / guidance as needed to the project team.
    • Efficient Management of Safety Team
    • Ensuring Health and Safety standards are incorporated into design and ensuring 2014 construction regulations for all on-site contractors.
    • Site communications – internally and to client team.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Applicable B Eng, BSc (Eng) or B Tech degree
    • SAMTRAC qualification advantageous
    • Computer literate – MS Office and MS Projects
    • Government Certificate of Competency Mining
    • 15 Years’ experience in the Construction / Heavy industry or Mining environment.
    • At least 5 Years’ experience as an appointed 2.13.1 or 2.13.3.1 appointee in a mine, or a combination thereof.
    • Driver’s license (Code B)

    • Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
    • Working knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

    Manager, Maintenance

    Position Overview

    • This role will oversee the engineering and maintenance team function for Mineral Separation Plant in terms of SQLCST.

    Responsibilities:

    Mining Maintenance

    • Provides leadership in line with Tronox values

    Senior Surveyor

    Position Overview

    The senior surveyor is responsible for the effective coordination and management of all survey team activities at the mine.
    This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and effective legal compliance and maintaining MPRDA survey legal compliance. Key to this role will be ensuring survey data's accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
    The successful candidate will be expected to:

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Achieving legal compliance (Survey), Maintaining MPRDA survey legal compliance, and Issuing survey instructions and notifications.
    • Maintaining DMR plans and monthly reporting according to standard.
    • Preparing mine plans (Survey) and ensuring the availability of electronic production Survey plans.
    • Provides the quantity and level of survey support required for operations to ensure timely, accurate survey reporting and advice is given for reconciliations and control (e.g., ore/overburden, stockpile movements, engineering, drilling, and tenements).
    • Assists with engineering project design, supervision, and control.
    • Contributes to the achievement of operational targets and strategic my plans. 
    • Creates accurate and timely budgets and forecasts for the survey section with consideration of future risks.
    • Actively participates in planning and review meetings, translating agreed strategies into survey implementation plans, directing the successful completion of group-related projects, and demonstrating leadership as a part of the departmental team.
    • Oversees the management of all survey data including computer systems and drawings.
    • Ensures adherence to legislative requirements (corporate governance reporting requirements, regulatory compliance, codes of practice).
    • Implements best practices in survey technology to improve accuracy, timeliness, and cost.
    • Broad understanding of all mining activities, capable of covering other portfolios.
    • Supervises and provides day-to-day technical leadership to an assigned group.
    • Participates in the recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management of designated employees.
    • Ensures delivery of planned tasks and activities, making decisions on routine problems, methodology, and resourcing issues.
    • Provides expertise in all aspects of surveying and acts as SME.

    Surveying Equipment

    Knowledge of survey equipment and its use; ability to select and utilize the correct equipment in different technical situations to generate relevant and accurate information to support business decision-making.

    Level Expertise:

    • Leads the evaluation of all major types of surveying equipment used it the company's operations; identifies and recommends improvements to meet business needs and define policies, and practices more effectively, and guidelines for equipment installation, utilization, and support.
    • Monitors industry/marketplace trends and directions in the survey equipment: cites relevant case studies in proposals to improve efficiency, costs, or outcomes for the business
    • Manages, monitors, and continuously improves the organization’s survey equipment utilization, support, and performance effectiveness
    • Defines competence standards and oversees the development of training and competence assurance of staff in the use and maintenance of survey equipment
    • Raises awareness across the organization of the impact of effective equipment selection, utilization, and management of the bottom line.
    • Ensure state-of-the-art techniques and software, XPAC, ArcGIS, MicroStation, Model maker, scanning, and aerial survey software were used.

    • Assist in generating short-term planning schedules and forecasts.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • NH Dip: Mine Surveying (Essential/Minimum)
    • BTech Mine Surveying (Recommended/Desirable)
    • Mine Surveyors GCC Legal Knowledge (Essential/Minimum)
    • MDP (Essential/Minimum)
    • Minimum of 7 Years Experience in mine surveying
    • Mine Surveyors GCC Part A (Recommended/Desirable)
    • Valid Code 8 driver’s license
    • Registered as a member with IMMSSA and/or SAGC (South African Geomatics Counsel/Society)
