    Learner Fire Fighter (Redelinghuys)

    • Qualifications: Grade 12
    • Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
    • Medical Test NFPA 1582
    • Experience: None

    Requirements:

    • Code C1 driving licence
    • Proficiency in at least two (2) of the official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans/English/isiXhosaSpeak, Read and Write)
    • Incumbent must pass a Department Physical Test upon entry and annually thereafter
    • Must pass a medical test preplacement/Post Offer/Baseline
    • Must have no mental phobias related to claustrophobia (confined spaces), acrophobia (heights), bathphobia (depths), aquaphobia (water) , homophobia (blood) , achluophobia (darkness) , authophobia (isolation), and necrophobia (corpses)
    • Physically and mentally fit
    • Required to work shifts and overtime as and when required
    • Required to work at any Fire Station, Fire Service Facility or Section within the area of jurisdiction by the Chief Fire Officer
    • No criminal record

    Job Purpose:

    • Performs a variety of tasks associated with responding to and dealing with firefighting, emergency rescue services, rendering basic medical care, fire prevention and training activities, operating and maintaining fire equipment and apparatus, maintaining fire station facilities and related work as required under appropriate supervision in order to protect lives and property of the citizens of the municipality in accordance with the Fire Brigade Services Act (Act 99 of 1987).

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Once training and minimum qualification have been achieved, carry out firefighting activities and emergency operations under guidance, mentorship and supervision of seniors and officers-in-charge in order to minimize the risk to life and property as well as lives and property of the communities of the municipality 
    • Preparing for emergency incidents and protection duties under guidance, mentorship and supervision of seniors and officers-in-charge in order to educate the public and maintain a high standard of safety and operational efficiency at emergency incidents as well as reducing the incidents and severity of fires, providing a safer environment for firefighters and communities 
    • Preparing for emergency incidents under guidance, mentorship and supervision of seniors and officers-in-charge to ensure that equipment and vehicles are safe, available and in sound working order for operational efficiency during emergency incidents as well as to maintain a safe and hygienic working environment
    • Performs basic administrative functions under guidance, mentorship and supervision of seniors and officers-incharge to ensure that relevant records where applicable are maintained
    • Responsible to part take in the Municipality’s Performance Management and Development System.

    • Services and general administrative support by amending, adjusting and reviewing policies and procedures against departmental, statutory and audit guidelines 
    • Providing strategic advice to the Director, Municipal Manager and Council with respect to legal services in accordance with relevant legislation

    Systems Administrator (Piketberg)

    • Qualifications: National Diploma: Information Technology/Computer Science/Information Systems or Relevant professional ICT qualification
    • Microsoft Certified: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst
    • Experience: Two (2) - Five (5) year’s relevant experience.

    Requirements:

    • Valid Code B driver`s license 
    • System and database troubleshooting skills 
    • Report development using SQL, Power BI, Excel, or similar tools

    • To support the effective functioning, integration, security, and compliance of municipal information systems, with a specific focus on financial systems, data governance, statutory reporting (e.g. mSCOA), and performance monitoring.
    • The incumbent ensures systems stability through technical support, reporting development, access control, backup routines, and change management processes, while also acting as a system champion for strategic ICT initiatives such as Smart City technologies.
