    Resource Estimation Geologist - Kumba Iron Ore

    Kumba Iron Ore

    We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world.     Job Description:

    As a Resource Estimation Geologistyou will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Create and update geological models as per business requirements.  This includes conducting the complete geostatistical process of creating geological models, including Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), variography, Quantitative Neighbourhood Analysis (QKNA), grade estimation, model validation, and geological confidence classification.
    • Communication of geological information: Have formal reviews to report all key geological information and/or changes to the Geosciences leadership team, focusing on communicating opportunities to create value through geological block model insights.
    • Spatial reconciliation of geological block models with former versions is essential in communicating changes.  This reporting must consider the value chain informing geological modelling as well as the value chain clients of the block model.
    • Participate in Mineral Resource reporting for Kumba Iron Ore when required.
    • Mineral Endowment tabulation: Extract Mineral Endowment information from geological block models of mining operations/projects using the business's relevant constraints to populate the Kumba and Anglo-American Mineral Resource reporting templates.
    • Compile full Mineral Endowment statements for mining operations/projects according to the company's Resource and Reserve reporting requirements.
    • When relevant competency has been achieved as defined by the SAMREC Code, Mineral Resource estimates must be attested to before peers and sign-off as Competent persons on Mineral Endowment statements will be required.

    This role is in the Geosciences department at a Band 6 level reporting to Senior Resource Geologist.

    Qualifications:

    • B.SC (Hons.) Geology
    • Member of SACNASP or other recognised professional organisations
    • SA Drivers License

    Experience

    • 4 -5 years of experience in Resource Modelling role.
    • Memo and technical reporting in relevant projects.
    • Data validation and exploration of data activities.
    • Geostatistical evaluation process.
    • Estimation, validation, and variance analysis processes.
    • SAMREC code and all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety, and risk management standards and best practices.
    • Understanding of the mine planning cycle.

    Mineralogy Analyst

    Job Description:

    Safety, Health & Environment

    • Ensures that Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) issues are considered in all activities, with adherence to safety standards and procedures.
    • Proactively identifies, monitors and mitigates SHE risks in accordance with Anglo American standards.
    • Encourages personal accountability.
    • Ensures that SHEQ issues are considered in all activities. Ensures that all staff, contractors and suppliers under direction are in compliance with Anglo American’s Health, Safety and Environment management systems.
    • Ensures equipment that is not safe to use is properly locked out and isolated.
    • Completion of risk assessments e.g., CRA (continuous risk assessment), SLAM (stop look assess manage) etc.
    • Participation in the SHEQ structure.

    Performance & Delivery

    • Support the Section Manager-Routine Services to define and apply the required standards and specifications relevant to routine mineralogy services.
    • Develop an understanding of all unit processes within the department. Apply mineralogical processes and principles to support mineralogy specialists and technologists. This includes supporting the Section Manager in identifying areas of improvement.
    • Prepare task assignments (defining context, purpose, quality, quantity and resources required) for projects, demonstrating the relevance of the project to the operation.
    • Manage routine projects through close liaison with other members of the team.
    • Effectively applies project and resource management tools and techniques within own role.
    • Undertakes technical analysis activities in own area.
    • Collects and assesses evidence, generates and evaluates options and shares recommendations.
    • Effective and appropriate use of equipment and facilities (QEMSCAN, MLA, TIMA, XRD, Optical Microscopes, XRF, XRM).
    • Set-up and perform high quality analytical runs.
    • Acquisition of accurate mineralogical data and high-quality technical reports delivered on schedule and within budget.
    • Keep up to date with developments in the mineralogy field.
    • Continuously improve productivity and methods.
    • Conduct Planned Task Observations (PTOs).
    • Other activities as requested by the Section Manager.

    Qualifications:

    • B.Sc. (Hons), B.Eng in Mineralogy, Geology, Metallurgy or related Science. B. Tech with relevant experience may be considered.
    • M.Sc. in Mineralogy, Geology, Metallurgy or related Science would be advantageous. Background in Mineralogy and Geology will be advantageous.
    • Computer skills.
    • Driver’s license or ability to obtain a drivers license.

    Technical Skills:

    • Understands the principles of Mineralogy and relevant tools and techniques to support mineralogical investigations.
    • Proven experience in the minerals or related industry.
    • Time management is critical to the role.

    Engagement Specialist - GSS

    Purpose of the role:

    The purpose of this role is to provide communication and engagement support to the Employee Engagement Business Partner for GSS providing business partner support to the Global Shared Services (GSS) discipline in delivering its strategy and objectives. It will be required to manage and monitor delivery of robust, consistent, effective, and innovative communications. This role requires close integration of information from the Functional Service Lines and Enablement Functions within Global Shared Services and the management of a robust integrated internal content calendar, supporting Global Shared Services with content and employee engagement ideation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Advise Principal Engagement Partners across the Global Shared Services disciplines to deliver communications excellence in support of business objectives for Function, discipline and programme leadership teams.
    • Assess and refine communications and engagement strategies and plans for Function / discipline / key programmes.
    • Project manage implementation of strategic plans.
    • Refine and / or commission engaging content as per strategic plans / narrative.
    • Advise on communication in Function and discipline channels (managing channels), optimising the use of Group communication channels.
    • Assess and measure impact.
    • Facilitate implementation of wider discipline activities e.g. codification of best practice; active involvement in the Integrated Communications Network; roll-out of global communications campaigns in Global Shared Services; provision of support to other areas as and when required Uphold / implement / share Group Policies, standards and best practice e.g. Brand, Disclosure & Media policy.
    • Build employee advocacy for Anglo American and the Global Shared Services organisation.

    Qualifications:

    Specialist LOAP

    Job Description:

    • Independently conduct Mine Planning reviews, providing suitable recommendations and drive implementation rollout on site.
    • Mentor and provide guidance to site-based engineers and operational teams to ensure implementation success of the plan and increase technical capability.
    • Autonomously manage consultants engaged in the execution of specific work packages.
    • Proactively support the LOAP process by providing inputs, assumptions and constraints as required.

    • Desired: Masters or PhD in relevant discipline.

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • Demonstrated experience working in an operational mining environment preferably with the relevant commodity.

    Principal - Life of Asset Planning (LOAP)

    Job Description:

    We are seeking a Principal Life of Asset Planning to develop LOAP for operations that are aligned with the strategic guidance outlined by the RDP. This involves leading the integration of collaborating disciplines to establish the best operational execution strategies required for optimal long-term value realisation. This role is an active “hands on” role requiring significant time actively using mine planning software to solve problems.

    The role will require international travel.

    Key role requirements:

    • Lead the development and implementation of systems, processes and standards for LOAP execution.
    • Maintain and monitor adherence to planning, scheduling and reporting systems for LOAP execution including early identification and reporting of any potential issues.
    • Coordination and alignment of the LOAP and consultant resources for the successful completion of the prioritised work programme.

    Technical skills / knowledge requirements:

    • Extensive career depth and breadth in both open pit and underground operations covering a range of commodities and operating conditions.
    • Experience in a group role or consultancy role focusing on Life of Asset Planning projects.
    • Demonstrated experience leading large multi-disciplinary technical and operational teams to deliver integrated business plans.
    • Demonstrated experience working in an operational mining environment preferably with the relevant commodity.
    • Demonstrated application of academic qualifications through experience working in the field.
    • A demonstrated thought leader and considered an accomplished practitioner in strategic mine planning.
    • Track record of leading ideas generation; translating these into practical initiatives to be implemented and demonstration of successful execution and delivery of LOAP for individual mine operations.
