    GM Risk Management Internship X2

    The George Municipality hereby invites qualified unemployed graduates to apply for a 2-year internship programme in the following fields:

    • Risk management requires a three-year degree or diploma in Financial Accounting, Internal Auditing, Commerce.
    • Forensic investigation requiring a three-year degree or diploma in a relevant field like Forensic Investigation, Law, Criminology, or any other relevant
    • The successful applicant will be employed as an Intern in the Directorate: Office of the Municipal Manager at George
    • Municipality, under the supervision of experienced Chief Risk Officer and Supervisors and with the guidance of a Professional Mentor.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Potential candidates must be preferably unemployed.
    • Be in possession of Forensic Investigation, Law, Criminology, Risk Management Financial Accounting, Internal Auditing, Commerce or any other relevant
    • Preference will be given to graduates who reside within the George/ Garden Route Municipal area.
    • Computer Literacy: MS Office.
    • Appointment will be made in context of Employment Equity.
    • Be prepared to sign a 2-year contract with George Municipality.
    • Must have good written, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Must maintain good consumer and customer relations.
    • Must be able to handle conflict and work under pressure.
    • Must be able to pay attention to detail and apply discretion in swift changing circumstances.
    • Must use own judgement in the sequence of performing duties.

    GM Assistant Human Resources Officer: Employee Wellness

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • A relevant 3 year tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management or related field.
    • Computer Literacy

    • Coordinate the employee assistance program and awareness programs e.g. HIV/ AIDS, substance abuse.
    • Receive referrals from line managers relating to frequent absenteeism for counselling/rehabilitation.
    • Identifying the reason for being absent from work frequently.
    • Develop and implement an alcohol and substance abuse policy.
    • Follow the progress of each employee who came for counselling.
    • Counsel and support staff experiencing personal and coping problems.
    • Co-ordinates training dealing with personal well-being, for example alcohol abuse, stress handling and HIV / AIDS.
    • Co-ordinates the smoking policy of the council.
    • Assist with the incapacity procedure, by referring staff for medical assessment.
    • Supports all role players involve in sexual harassment cases.
    • Provides information to staff members on access to external social welfare programs.
    • Facilitate and co-ordinate staff referral for assistance.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 10 or equivalent technical qualification
    • Code B driver’s license

    • Ensure repairs and renovations are completed within the specified timeframes and the workmanship conforms to laid down standards of quality.
    • Ensure details of activities are accurately recorded to facilitate the processing of information related to productivity personnel, time and material allocation and utilisation for specific assignments.
    • Ensure personnel are capacitated and capable of performing at acceptable levels, deviations addressed and corrective measures implemented to sustain productivity and efficiency.

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS ATTACHED TO THE POST

    • Required to work outside normal working hours, during emergencies and planned overtime.

    Manager Energy Security

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • B Tech degree in Engineering (Electrical)
    • 3-5 years relevant experience since obtaining BTech
    • Valid driver’s license

    • Knowledge of Renewable Energy Projects, SSEG, Wheeling and IPP's

    • Ensure continued identification of projects and interaction with internal and external parties in the execution thereof
    • Ensure Contractors comply with construction regulation and that projects comply to the occupational health and safety Act 85/1993

    • Ensure that the directorate is well prepared for the energy transition, through policy, by-law adoptions for renewable energy as well as procurement of renewable strategies.
