    Supervisor: Energy Consumption, Products & Related Services (Re-advert)

    Purpose Statement

    • To supervise the effective and efficient planning, organizing, leading and controlling of national, regional and international standards development, review and maintenance and related functions; conduct relevant research in order to support the development of standards roadmaps; provide professional stakeholder engagements aligned to the Divisional objectives and Organisation strategy.

    Minimum Requirements    
    Qualification 

    • National Diploma / Diploma in Engineering: Electrical (NQF Level 6)

    Work Experiance 

    • 5 Years relevant work experience in Electrical Engineering field. (Operational Level)
    • 2 Years supervisory/ team leader experience. (Supervisory Level)

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Functional Management 

    • Plan, schedule and supervise the team to support national, regional and international standards development, review and maintenance.
    • Ensure that all targets are achieved according to the SABS standards, processes and requirements within defined time frames.
    • Conduct and deliver quality research reports in support of standardisation roadmaps and related scopes
    • Ensure standards deliverables meet the requirements of due process aligned to operating procedures and practices
    • Support the team to ensure that all standards proposals meet the requirements of relevance and need (e.g., economic, industrial policy, social, health, safety, environment)
    • Ensure the output of team members are effectively reviewed, monitored and achieved
    • Support the team in taking on standards projects where required
    • Keep abreast of standardisation trends within scope of control
    • Acquire leadership roles in national, regional and international standardisation forums.
    • Supervise and ensure that all standards development work is completed according to the requisite quality and specifications.
    • Facilitate standards development training courses/workshops, where required
    • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of all workflows and processes during the development process.
    • Ensure effective and timely reporting of teams operational performance
    • Monitor the programme of work within the area of responsibility with the opportunity to redistribute work and escalate accordingly.

    Risk and Compliance Management 

    • Ensure the mitigation of the functional unit’s risk profile through the application of fraud controls and risk prevention principles and implementing of sound governance and compliance processes and tools to identify and manage risks.
    • Responsible for the coordination and maintenance of quality risk management in line with ISO/SANS 31 000, Accreditation and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor changes in the regulatory environment and ensure that appropriate operational controls are implemented to address new requirements.
    • Support and provide evidence to all internal and external audit, Accreditation and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee the maintenance and enforcement of related Service Level Agreements to minimise business risk and ensure business continuity.
    • Ensure adherence in the team to all relevant laws, policies and Standard Operating Procedures throughout the organisation.

    People Management 

    • Proactively supervise all resources in order to ensure that the operational plans are effectively executed.
    • Maintain excellent human capital performance through employee empowerment, skills development and retention and succession planning within the team.
    • Maintain an environment where employees respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all processes, procedures and practices.
    • Contribute to diversity management initiatives.
    • Implement a learning culture within scope of control.
    • Execute performance management in line with the SABS policy within the team, and address performance challenges and develop subordinates to meet the expected performance standards.
    • Provide support in recruiting and retaining key talent and other critically skilled personnel to manage internal processes and supervise the tactical, daily analytical work of the team.
    • Train, guide and mentor team members, student interns, candidate and new Standards Writers in the area of responsibility, as required.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Identify and mitigate internal systems and procedural barriers to enhance excellent customer service.
    • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to gain feedback and ensure that standards are effectively developed through continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships for the purpose of expectations management, knowledge sharing and integration, and to manage the organisation’s reputation.
    • Represent and participate in the organisation’s committees and tasks teams when required.
    • Convene, chair and attend meetings and present performance and business related information relevant stakeholders when required.
    • Actively liaise and build relationships with SABS clients and service providers so as to ensure that the service standards are met appropriately.

    Head: Supply Chain Management

    PURPOSE STATEMENT

    • Accountable for the implementation of tactical work plans, formulate associated procedures and ensure the development and effective implementation of supply chain management initiatives intended to secure a total cost of ownership reduction for the SABS and to embed supply chain compliance and best practice in accordance with the applicable statutory and legislated protocols with the objective to achieve year-on-year improvement it total cost, quality and service delivery.

    Minimum Requirements    
    QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION

    • Honours Degree in Supply Chain Management, Financial Management, Business Management or related field (NQF Level 8)
    • MCIPS registration is an added advantage

    EXPERIENCE

    • 10 years relevant work experience in Supply Chain Management (Operational Level)
    • 3 years senior managerial experience (Senior Managerial Level)
    • 5 years managerial experience (Managerial Level)
    • Proven track record of overseeing supply chain sourcing, negotiation, contracting, purchasing, supply chain management, inventory management and supplier payment processing at corporate level (Operational Level)

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Strategic Management

    • Lead development/management/execution of SABS SCM strategy & provide input into overall strategy, policy & decision-making.
    • Ensure SCM strategy aligns with all sub-divisions via strategic work plans.
    • Set/drive comprehensive goals & objectives supporting SABS strategy.
    • Ensure effective management of full SCM value chain (internal/external) per SABS strategy.
    • Lead/ensure establishment, maintenance & improvement of SOPs, policies & guidelines for SCM with CFO & Executives.
    • Develop Centre of Excellence balancing technical know-how & customer/stakeholder needs.
    • Ensure productivity measured effectively vs set objectives.
    • Ensure SCM meets objectives & implement corrective actions where not achieved.\
    • Develop/execute SCM strategies reducing total cost of ownership.
    • Develop/execute strategies for supplier & enterprise development per legislation.
    • Provide leadership & build strong team aligned to mission, vision, values & objectives, instilling trust/credibility.

    Operational Management

    • Develop/execute SCM Operational Plan meeting capacity/requirements per overall plans.
    • Convert divisional operational plans into activities/targets supporting growth.
    • Manage operating model & continuously improve for business enhancement.
    • Ensure SCM objectives met via performance management/measurement.
    • Provide subject-matter expertise on SCM protocols/processes.
    • Organise/manage SCM resources to maximise productivity & customer satisfaction.
    • Ensure alignment between SCM team goals/actions & business units.
    • Communicate team progress & achievements to EXCO.
    • Continuously assess internal improvement areas & develop implementation plans.
    • Develop annual Integrated Demand Plans & report to authorities.
    • Communicate SCM trends/results for commodities/categories to Business Unit Managers.
    • Provide strategic reporting to EXCO/committees enabling decision-making.
    • Oversee travel management company & insurance contracts.
    • Develop/implement an effective/efficient contract management system.
    • Review/authorise contractual supplier arrangements per Delegation of Authority.
    • Engage business to improve requirement scoping, understand needs & manage expectations/turnaround times.
    • Track/deliver forecasted vs actual savings with category specialists.
    • Track/report non-compliance & deviations.
    • Oversee & drive stores strategic management framework.

    Risk & Compliance Management

    • Ensure deployment of proper financial controls.

    People Management

    • Lead/manage SCM by providing vision clarity; prioritising resources; aligning team; managing non-performance; driving customer-centric culture; setting/cascading KPAs; inspiring commitment; encouraging support; enabling development opportunities.
    • Proactively manage direct reports to meet SCM strategic objectives.
    • Maintain strong human-capital performance through engagement, empowerment, skills development, talent attraction/retention & succession planning.
    • Ensure all staff trained/developed incl mentorship & coaching.
    • Maintain environment of integrity/ethics & integrate values into all processes/practices.
    • Implement learning culture.
    • Develop/execute cluster technical & leadership skills strategies with Human Capital.
    • Act as change champion for SCM-wide change, culture & diversity programmes.

    Stakeholder Management

    •  Identify/resolve internal system/procedural barriers to improve customer service.

    • Align SCM activities across divisions ensuring coordinated engagements.
    • Analyse queries & develop mechanisms to resolve common issues & share lessons across SABS.
    • Ensure documentation of all stakeholder engagements for future continuity
