Current Openings at Barloworld Equipment

The main purpose of the role is to act as a custodian for the company’s local & Foreign creditors (including CAT suppliers) by ensuring that standard accounting practices and processes are followed to transact, record and keep track of all transactions relating to Barloworld Equipment’s supplier accounts.

This role will add value to the Shared Services division and the individual will focus on the following Key Performance Indicators:

• To ensure good corporate governance, in terms of internal control implementation and ensuring operating effectiveness of controls
• To provide accurate financial information to the business.
• Process All local & Foreign creditors invoices for RSA, Lesotho, and Swaziland on SAP /VIM.
• Process intercompany invoices and ensure monthly balance confirmations are completed as per the set deadlines.
• Perform vendor reconciliations monthly for all local creditors.
• Prepare weekly and monthly cash forecasts and ensure adherence to acceptable deviation ratios.
• Run all vendor payments and ensure that remittance advises are sent out to suppliers timely.
• Raise accruals monthly.
• Ensure that GR/IR accounts are up to date, reconciled and cleared.
• Follow up all invoice and payment queries with both internal and external customer.
• Attending to ad-hoc requests from the Management and the business
• Provide all the supporting documents to Auditors during interim and year-end audit periods as requested.

Minimum Required Qualification:

• BCom/Diploma Accounting/Bookkeeping equivalent would be advantageous
• Matric or equivalent qualification

• At least two years’ experience in an Accounts payable environment

Key Outputs

• Ability to perform planned and breakdown repairs (Disassemble, inspect, and assemble) Caterpillar Earthmoving components to supplier standards and customer requirements.
• Ability to ensure reusability of parts during inspection.
• Quickly and efficiently diagnose Engine systems and carry out repairs.
• Compile accurate customer machine analysis and reports including Engine Inspection Reports (MIR’s) and Technical Analysis Reports (TA’s)

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Qualified in relevant trade (e.g. Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic/Fitter
• 3 to 5 years Trade experience in the component repair process
• 2 years minimum experience in specific position requirements for engines,
• Component specific technical knowledge and skills
• Experience on C Series and 3500 series engines

Key Outputs

• Understand category strategies and sourcing plans to support their regional execution
• Ensure a full understanding of regional buying needs
• Identify future supply and/or demand issues to ensure a proactive and effective response
• Provide intelligence on potential or existing issues on orders, requisitions and delayed deliveries
• Check accuracy of Framework PR data, ensure that Framework PRs spend is signed off by Category Manager and Business.
• Where contracts are not in place, select suppliers by getting quotations or executing the tender process (with support from relevant Category Analysts)
• Negotiate all RFQ’s and pricing with the procurement officers
• Ensure the savings register is managed, kept and communicated
• Sign off RFQ’s, provide guidance on evaluation, manage POs raised daily, weekly and monthly
• Track the orders and report on the order status
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure correct delivery
• Inform relevant Category Manager/Analyst about supplier pricing and delivery issues
• Understand and keep up with macro-trends and regulations in the region and communicate findings with Category Managers/Analysts.
• Communicate supply and demand issues/changes with relevant Category Managers/Analysts, ensuring spend out of contract is managed. Weekly reporting with business on spends outside contracts.
• Ensure that managers in local plants get the value agreed to from Category Management
• Link local end users to sourcing actions to ensure new supply agreements are developed and implemented appropriately. Keep a database of new suppliers that are being introduced.
• Proactively manage operational risks and challenges stemming from regions

• % spend by P2P channel by plant
• Number of days’ reduction in P2P cycle time by plant
