    Business Development Manager: Group Risk 

    • A vacancy exists for a Business Development Manager in Group Risk, reporting to the Head of Group Risk Customer Value Proposition (CVP). The role also supports the Head of Customer Engagement. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and enhancing the product marketing function, managing strategic partnerships, as well as supporting with client engagements. The incumbent will also be responsible for driving key data & infrastructure enhancements through a cross-functional team, with the focus on accelerating the digital transformation and setting the business up for future growth.

    • Key Result Areas

    • Support Head of Group Risk CVP in setting & implementing product strategy

    • Perform market research & competitor analysis to inform strategy
    • Review, maintenance and sign-off of product content
    • Training responsibility, including redesign of accreditation material & ensuring successful accreditation
    • Training & development of junior actuarial students
    • Support the Head of Group Risk CVP in the design of the new operating model between GAP and OM SuperFund umbrella, as well as relevant product development initiatives
    • Automation of models and business processes
    • Development and maintenance of tools to analyse actuarial data, in order to enhance management reporting & business intelligence
    • Pricing support & decisions on large and complex group risk arrangements, both for South African and OM Africa Regions clients
    • Provide technical input into regulatory initiatives promoting the fair treatment of customers 
    • PPR, COFI, Market Conduct and AML
    • TCF & market conduct work, including market conduct reporting
    • Support the Head of Group Risk CVP in ensuring compliance with relevant regulation, as well as internal governance

    • Setting up & maintaining binder agreements, including due diligence & operational oversight
    • Development of tools, processes & other infrastructure to support binders & other strategic relationships
    • Engage with relevant legal & compliance departments to ensure compliance of binders, outsourcing arrangements and other commercial agreements
    • Structuring of large group risk arrangements in collaboration with OM Corporate Business Development team
    • Develop GAP’s wellness strategy and implement through strategic partners
    • Ongoing review & enhancement of value-added services, including development of marketing collateral
    • Data & infrastructure enhancement
    • Contribute to longer term data & infrastructure strategy as part of a cross-functional team
    • Identify opportunities for process optimisation & improvements across the value chain with a focus on implementing best practice in the longer term (including AI) & drive implementation
    • Drive the digital transformation of Group Risk in collaboration with the OM Corporate Customer Office and technology teams
    • Product Owner for certain GAP strategic projects (data & infrastructure enhancements), including representation on relevant operational project forums
    • Managing the relevant cross-functional project teams to deliver on project plans

    Qualifications and Experience required

    • B Comm / MBA
    • At least 15 years of Group Risk / reinsurance experience
    • Exposure to product or pricing roles would be an advantage
    • Experience in managing actuarial / pricing teams
    • Strong business acumen
    • Ability to run projects independently
    • The ability to manage several projects and priorities at the same time

    Head of Customer Value Proposition: Group Risk

    Role Overview

    • This is a senior Actuary in Group Assurance to support the General Manager: Corporate Protection. The incumbent will be responsible to develop and drive the implementation of the product strategy for group risk through a cross-functional team.
    • The role is a senior GAP management role with representation on its executive committee – thereby ensuring that the incumbent is in a strong position to influence the strategy of Old Mutual’s group assurance business. The incumbent will be expected to interact with clients and stakeholders at all levels, and will drive the current and future product strategy.

    Key Result Areas

    • The incumbent will be expected to interact with clients, intermediaries and internal stakeholders at all levels.  Core responsibilities of the role will include:
    • Develop and implement GAP’s product strategy

    • This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and financial education and to achieve lending, servicing, transactional banking and insurance sales targets through the marketing and selling of Old Mutual and its products.
