    Project Administrator - Mtubatuba

    Description

    • The Clinical Trials Unit Project Administrator will be  responsible for support to all clinical research projects within the Clinical Trial Unit including the satellite sites. The CTU Administrator will provide administration support and assist with the coordination and management of all CTU operational activities. The role may require incumbent to work outside of normal hours, Public Holidays & Weekend as and when required by the study. 

    Overview of Duties

    • Coordinate, perform and manage all administrative tasks of the Clinical Trial Unit satellite sites
    • Coordinating CTU satellite sites activities and operations to secure efficiency and compliance to policies to achieve CTU goals
    • Assist the upper management with office administrative tasks
    • Ensure the smooth running of the CTU satellite sites by developing systems to track all CTU projects
    • Assist with delivering the items procured for satellite sites
    • Attend team meetings and procure all items requested by the satellite sites
    • Assisting with other CTU support duties when requested by line manager

    Requirements
    Minimum Qualifications

    • Senior certificate (Grade 12)
    • Certificate or Diploma in Office or Business Administration or equivalent
    • Computer literacy and certification (MS Office)
    • Fluency in isiZulu and English

    Minimum  Requirement and Experience 

    • A minimum of 2 years’ of working in a clinical research environment
    • Prover 1 year experience as an Administrative Assistant or Office Administrative Assistance
    • Resident and a member of a homestead from within the Population Intervention, (please attach proof of residence)
    • Understanding of project operations including project planning and ethical conduct of research
    • Computer proficiency (electronic data collection, word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet)
    • Good data entry, typing skills, plan meetings and take detailed minutes
    • Ability to work independently and show initiative
    • Ability to document information accurately and methodically

    Professional Research Nurse - Somkhele

    Requirements
    Minimum Requirements and Qualifications 

    • Current registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
    • NIMART trained and experienced.
    • Valid driver’s License and must have been driving for longer than 2 years
    • Computer Literacy (MS Office – Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
    • Written and spoken fluency in English and isiZulu

    Minimum Experience 

    • A minimum of 3 years recognizable nursing experience after registration as professional nurse with SANC, of which at least 1 year must be in a PHC Primary Health Care clinic.
    • Experience in providing HIV/TB and NCD’s treatment and care in a primary health care clinic
    • At least one-year clinical research experience
    • Basic counselling and interviewing skills.
    • Knowledge of and experience in HIV/TB and NCD’s treatment and care.

    Driver - Somkhele

    Description

    • AHRI seeks for the Driver who will be  responsible for all project related driving duties which will include but not limited to, transporting of biological samples/medication/any project related material to and from AHRI Satellite Site Clinics and AHRI Clinical Trials Unit. Perform pick-ups/drop offs at various sites in the Kwa Mpukunyoni/ Mtubatuba area.  The work may include working night shift, public holidays & weekend work and or as and when required by the clinical trials unit.    

    Overview of Duties 

    • Transport biological specimens, medication and other project related items between project Satellite sites (all the DOH Clinics supported by the CTU)
    • Carry out any Ad hoc driving and administrative duties as requested by the Line Manager
    • Ensures safe transportation of passengers, equipment, medication and project related material
    • Ensures vehicles are clean, are without any defects and are well maintained
    • Coordinates the schedule for major or periodic project vehicle maintenance with management and staff to minimize service interruptions
    • Participates in any staff development and training activities for personal development
    • Ensure that s/he adhere to the AHRI Transport Policy.

    Requirements
    Minimum Requirement and Qualifications

    • Matric or equivalent.
    • Must Possess a valid South African Code C1 with PDP driver’s License with at least 3 years driving 
    • Must be the resident and a member of a homestead from within the Population Intervention Programme Study Area (PIPSA). 
    • Advanced / Defensive Driving Training certification will be an added advantage

    Minimum  experience 

    • At least 3 years proven work experience as a Driver
    • Previous professional experience or exposure in the transportation of hazardous goods/specimen will be an added advantage.
    • Previous professional experience in transportation of passengers and high-level delegation will be an added advantage

    Clinical Research Assistant - Somkhele

    Description

    • AHRI is looking for five clinical research assistants who will be based at our Somkhele site. The successful candidates will work across various studies that are conducted at the Clinical Trials Unit Satellite Sites within the Heald and Demographic Surveillance Site (HDSS). The successful candidates will be primarily responsible for the implementation of the study protocols - They will be the first point of contact with potential study participants within the clinics. The successful candidates will be expected to follow procedures according to study protocols and to provide high quality clinical support to participants and other clients. The successful candidate will report directly to the allocated clinics within HDSS on regular basis unless advised otherwise by the Line Manager. The role may require incumbent to work outside of normal hours, Public Holidays & Weekend as and when required by the study especially for follow-ups of the study participants.  The appointable candidate must be the resident and a member of a homestead from within the Population Intervention Programme Study Area (PIPSA)

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Senior certificate (Grade 12).
    • Computer Literacy Certification (MS Office - Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
    • Must Possess a valid South African Code C1 driver’s license (will be required to take PDP driver’s license test)
    • Fluency in English and Zulu

    Pharmacist - Mtubatuba

    Description

    • Africa Health Research Institute is recruiting a pharmacist. The pharmacist(s) will manage clinical trial Investigation Product(s) and/or Device(s) and other registered medication stored in the pharmacy under the supervision of the Pharmacy Coordinator/Responsible Pharmacist. General areas of responsibility include management of IP, management of other medication, real time completion of any clinical trial related documents and other Institutional pharmacy running requirements. The pharmacist (S) will also ensure that the IP and other medication is ordered, received, stored, dispensed, returned, and destroyed appropriately according to GPP, specific sponsor/study requirements, AHRI SOPs and ICH and South African regulatory requirements. The position is based at Somkhele site.  

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy
    • Registered at SA Pharmacy Council
    • Valid driver's License 

    Minimum Experience

    • Computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
    • Minimum three (3) years working experience as a pharmacist.
    • Minimum of one (1) year of Pharmacy oversight and management experience.
