REQUIRED EDUCATION

• ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Degree / Diploma in General Nursing

• ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:  None
• DESIRED EXPERIENCE: : 1 year post-graduate qualification experience before placement in a specialised unit

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Infection prevention and control
• Pharmacology

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

• The Emergency Care Assistant (ECA) will practice as clinical assistants within the emergency medical care and rescue environment thereby replacing the Basic Ambulance Assistant Course as the entry qualification into the emergency medical services.
• This position is an entry-level qualification and recognises the key competencies required of Emergency Care Assistants (ECAs) who will work under the guidance of Emergency Care Technicians, Emergency Care Practitioners and Medical Officers in a variety of contexts. Holders of this qualification will operate mainly in and around the ambulance, within wide ranging contexts, including rural, urban, military, coastal, corporate, mass gatherings, homes and workplaces. In general, the Emergency Care Assistant will provide a supportive service within the pre-hospital context.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

• To support nursing unit staff in delivering safe and quality patient care that promotes and meets the healthcare needs of patients

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Support and assist nursing unit staff in the delivery of quality patient care within a team approach
• Identify and report risks in line with hospital policies
• Contribute to a positive patient experience through assisting the nursing unit staff
• Provide administrative support to the nursing unit staff as specified
• Contribute to a learning environment that builds staff competence by participating in continuous personal development
• Ensure that required stock is utilised efficiently and accurately charged

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: An appropriate qualification as a Care Worker
• DESIRED EDUCATION: Grade 12

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Essential minimum experience: Experience in a healthcare environment
• DESIRED EXPERIENCE: None

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

• To ensure that all equipment, plant, building, and services always remain functional to their original state in the safest and most cost-effective way

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Perform Technical jobs within the locality

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: More than 8 years of refrigeration artisan experience and multi-skilled 
• DESIRED EXPERIENCE: More than 3 years' Mediclinic experience

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Trade-specific skills and knowledge – proficiency relative to the role
• Trade-specific policies, procedures, guidelines, and relevant legislature
• Fault finding and troubleshooting
• Planned maintenance according to set Mediclinic standards
