    Rail & Infrastructure Logistics Specialist - JHB

    Job Description

    You will be responsible for the short-term, medium-term, long-term planning and execution of rail, considering any constraints as well as ensuring the execution is in line with the port requirements.

    More of your responsibilities will include:

    • Ensuring the right product reaches the port at the right time to minimise demurrage as well as coordinating the daily, weekly, and monthly rail performance
    • Owning the operational relationship with Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) and Third-Party rail sidings which include the submissions of the weekly demand plan
    • Managing Thungela’s equity position ensuring adherence thereof with TFR and escalate any non-adherence to Manager Integrated Planning and logistics and to the Head of ISOP
    • Ensuring Thungela contract management and governance with TFR is in line and as per contract ensuring meetings are scheduled and attended by all required parties
    • Managing Thungela’s take or pay position ensuring gaps are identified and risk are adequately managed
    • Managing the rail distribution pattern in line with Thungela’s operational requirements
    • Developing strategies to monitor and manage any rail-related penalties such as Train handling times and overloading/underloading
    • Working with operational teams to ensure that rail plan meets the production and sale requirements and the right product arrives at the port at the right time
    • Developing the Marketing policies and procedures required to adequately manage the rail planning and operational space and ensuring adherence
    • Monitoring day-to-day risks related to rail and ensure that correct measures are in place to manage the risks
    • Providing a view on rail intel intelligence to ensure Thungela’s route to port is not at risk
    • Maintaining oversight on rail intel intelligence to ensure Thungela’s route to port is not at risk and ensuring g operations and port operate at required buffer stock levels
    • Coordinating adherence to rail safety regulatory requirements at loading sites
    • Ensuring all required stakeholders are aligned with rail safety regulations requirements (i.e., Loadout teams, trucking teams)
    • Contributing to the broader business by working with other leaders and teams in such a way that it optimises the overall business results
    • Managing relationships with all key stakeholders (internal and external) to understand and deliver on their service needs and resolve issues optimally

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors’ Degree / B-Tech in Marketing, Engineering, Logistics, or related discipline (NQF level 7)

    Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the management of logistics preferably in the mining or manufacturing industry
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a rail operations environment
    • Supply Chain experience (Logistics, Transport, Planning) preferably within a complex industry environment
    • Experience in coal logistics, quality and stockpile management
    • Experience in marketing in a rail environment (advantageous)

    Job Description

    Directional Drilling Controller - eMalahleni

    Job Description

    You will promote safety through participating in high level safety reviews and ensure all mine standards, codes of practices, rules and regulations are adhered to.

    • Complying with the drilling operation and ensure the safety of the drill crew and drill site
    • Ensure effective inspections and maintenance management of the drill rig

    CAD / GIS Draughtsperson - eMalahleni

    Job Description

    The focus areas for this role will be to manage and co-ordinate the following:

    • Provide draughting services on MicroStation through capturing geological data as well as collecting and analysing computerised data banks of spatial data, remote sensors, satellites, and other sources
    • Update farm boundaries as well as complete geological maps and create plans for geological reports (design and add colour, symbols and scales)
    • Prepare prospecting rights application plans using desktop publishing and specialist image manipulation software as well as edit, update and revise plans, maps, and other drawings
    • Ensure the availability of all relevant information for each project area as well as verify and correct existing cadastral to be SG compliant, collaborating closely with Surveyors and Mine Planner
    • Use geographical information systems to model and analyse landscape features as well as check maps are accurate and to scale
    • Perform Windeed farm searches and SG diagram requests as well as extract information from geological database.
    • Convert data from Cape Datum to Hartebeeshoek Datum as well as create visual aids and presentations

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12/ Equivalent qualification
    • Diploma in Mine Surveying or Geology/GIS (NQF level 6) will be advantageous. 
    • Mine Surveying Draughting Certificate (Chamber of Mines) is required
    • Experience in the use of MicroStation is desirable

    Knowledge & Skills:

    Job Description

    Job Description

    The focus areas for this role will be to:

    • Keep the company’s cadastral data up-to-date and SG complaint, including cadastral Windeed searches, updating changes to farms/portions and the use of SG diagrams
    • Prepare and maintain maps which include regional coal rights, maps reflecting current and renewed leases, adjacent competitors and exploration maps using geological information
    • Prepare maps for legal reporting including competing applications, amendments to current license applications, environmental assessments, mine works programmes, competent person reports and assisting with maps for the company’s integrated annual report
    • Collect and analyse computerised data banks of spatial data, remote sensors, satellites and other sources
    • Export and convert data using various software applications
    • Create visual aids and presentations

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Mine Surveying Draughting Certificate (Chamber of Mines).
    • GIS certification
    • Any other technical computer aided draughting certificate would be advantageous

    Technical Skills:

    • 5 - 7 years draughting experience, preferably in the mining or a related industry.
    • Computer literacy includes advanced CAD user, preferably MicroStation with fair knowledge of Jador and GIS systems
    • Data management and the basic use of MS Office
    • Good spatial awareness
