    Engineer: Furnace Control - MAC

    Job description

    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

    • Execute furnace control installations, both locally and internationally, in which interactions with clients and technical expertise are required at a professional level.
    • Execute R&D projects in line with the divisional research programme, employing finance control and electrical engineering theory and principles.
    • The main contact point on client projects for both project administration and technical aspects.
    • Provide clients with advanced training at a nationally-competitive level of technical expertise.
    • Contribute technically to marketing presentations.
    • Ascertain needs of clients, to contribute to annual R&D planning and strategy.
    • Ensure that projects are executed on time and within budget.
    • Ensure that QES procedures are strictly adhered to and that project work is executed with maximum overall technical efficiency.
    • Actively participate in the training, guidance and motivation of junior staff. Participate in team debates and technical decisions.
    • Produce professional reports, papers and presentations at local and international conferences.
    • Keep up-to-date at a professional level with technology and business developments that are relevant to the division’s interests

    Minimum requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Engineer: BSc. or BEng. Electrical or Electronics
    • Senior Engineer: MSc or MEng. Electrical or Electronics
    • PhD will be an added advantage
    • At least 3 years of experience in the minerals or minerals-related industry.
    • Work experience in control and/or operation of submerged-arc furnaces
    • Must be willing to travel locally and internationally, and work with minimal supervision.

    The following skills/knowledge will be advantageous:

    • - Experience furnace control, technology evaluation, flowsheet development, modelling or simulation of circuits.
    • - Computer programming (e.g. Matlab, C , C# or Python)

    Head Financial Systems

    Job description
    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

    Compliance

    • General ledger control and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
    • Review of financial statements and ensuring that they comply in terms of applicable accounting statements.
    • Review of financial statements to ensure that they are fair, accurate and complete.
    • Review of audit files for external and internal auditors and ensuring that they agree to account balances
    • Completion of PFMA compliance checklist
    • Review compliance to state laws and regulations (PFMA, Treasury Regulations, Companies and Vat Acts)

    Internal control monitoring

    • Review of system and process internal controls to ascertain adequacy, appropriateness and compliance to all regulatory requirements, industry standards and company policies and procedures.
    • Based on outcome of the review, design and implement improved internal controls.
    • Ensures that systems prevent financial losses resulting from error, fraud or technological malfunction
    • Inspect, identify and document systems of internal financial controls
    • Drafting of financial policies and standard operating procedures.
    • Review of transactions to ensure adherence to policies and procedures
    • Follow-up and clearance of external and internal audits management letter issues

    Financial Analysis

    • Review monthly management reports (companywide and per division) and establish trends with regards to expenses and revenue cycles.
    • Identify and resolve errors and discrepancies.
    • Review of financial statements to advise management on investments and expense-saving opportunities.

    Reporting

    • Monthly dashboard reporting on strategic company issues
    • Review of quarterly reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Other adhoc reports as required by management from time-to-time.

    Risk management

    • Identify and assess financial risks.
    • Communicate any changes in financial risk to Risk Committee representative for Finance.
    • Assist individuals who perform financial activities with risk assessment and action plans in their area of responsibilities to heighten awareness of financial risk exposures and facilitate discussions of practical ways to manage them
    • Review mitigating controls in place and if not adequate, design and implement new controls.

    Other

    • Employee development
    • Follow-up and clearance of all queries from divisions
    • Ensure correction of management report items as raised in internal and external audit reports
    • Act as a liaison between the internal audit team and business units
    • Maintain a working relationship with external auditors

    Minimum requirements
    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • BCom Honours Degree plus Articles or Masters Degree
    • Ideal: CA (SA)
    • Minimum: 5 -10 years in an accounting environment computer literacy.
    • Specialist and technical knowledge applicable to the compilation of financial statements in terms of GRAP, and Companies Act.
    • In depth knowledge of applicable policies, standard operating procedures and applicable legislation.

    • 2-5 years as a Junior Accountant
    • 2-5 years as an Auditor

    Technician: Flotation Group

    Job description

    KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS:

    • Assume the responsibility of Leader on selected MPD’s bench scale tests and pilot plant campaigns.
    • Assist with the construction, commissioning and operation of pilot plants and laboratory test equipment of either Flotation or Comminution Group.
    • Conduct laboratory experiments and participate in the execution of pilot plants.
    • Assist chief investigators to meet the technical objectives of projects and contribute to technical problem solving.
    • Train contract workers and operators in the safe and correct use of equipment and in the execution of laboratory and pilot plant-procedures.
    • Independently manage unit operations that form part of larger projects. This include planning, staffing, operation, quality control and reporting on those unit operations.
    • Perform basic calculations related to the execution of laboratory experiments and pilot plant operations.
    • Assume responsibility for calibration of equipment, pH electrodes etc..
    • Ensure that data are correctly logged and monitor the accuracy of data that are reported.
    • Ensure that all SHEQ matters are fully complied with at all times.
    • Ensure that equipment is used correctly and responsibly to avoid, or minimize, damage thereof.

    Minimum requirements

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree / BTech degree in Chemical Engineering / Extractive Metallurgy is required.
    • At least 2 years’ experience on the operation of relevant MPD unit operations such as flotation testwork, sample preparation, comminution bench scale tests, milling circuits, operation of crushers, flotation processes or more than 5 years broad-based experience across in a MPD processing environment.
