- Grade 12 (matric)/N3 equivalent (Preferable)
- 5-10 years Clothing Retail management experience as Area Manager or Regional Manager.
- Experience in Retail Clothing a requirement.
- Must be computer literate
- SAP knowledge is an added advantage
- Drivers Licence (extensive local travelling)
- Development of new talent for Regional Manager succession plans
- Escalate matters brought forward by the Area Managers
- Ensures consistent execution across within the clothing stores
- Train newly appointed Area Managers

The FBP Retail position will play a critical role in assisting the FBA Retail and contributing to the overall financial health and success of the Pick n Pay business. This role provides assistance in various aspects of financial reporting analysis, aligned to the achievement of strategic objectives across the PnP banners. FBP Retail will also provide support and assist with delivering Operational and strategic financial services and consolidation of reports across the various banners within Pick n Pay for relevant decision making. These services may relate to the provision of financial information, guidance on Finance related processes, policies, and support in the execution of disputes/issues and outstanding queries for both the Finance COE and Finance Business services functions. The key purpose of this role is also to educate and support individuals in business on financial information, monitoring of Business financial health and create efficiencies in the Business partnering model across the different Business intelligence areas that support and lead banner areas.
- BCom/Hons Degree in Financial/Management Accounting
- CA(SA) is advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Finance Environment
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Strategy Planning and Alignment
- Provide all finance support to run the business area including driving improved profitability and cost efficiencies.
- Collaborate with retail leadership to understand and align financial strategies with the overall strategic intent of the retail division.
- Ensure that financial plans and objectives support the business's long-term goals and growth strategies.
- Review, align and report on Pick n Pay budgets and forecasts regularly to senior management.
- Prepare business cases for new initiatives and investments as required by the HOD/ GM.
Finance Business Partnering
- Develop a deep understanding of the overall retail industry and Pick n Pay business and align your advice and key decisions to support it.
- Ensure a deep understanding of finance and accounting principles to provide relevant financial analysis and advice.
- Act as a trusted advisor and financial expert to retail leaders and managers.
- Collaborate with retail teams to understand their financial needs and challenges and provide guidance and support accordingly.
- Analyse cross-functional and business data to inform strategic, operational and domain specific trends and observations for review to business and FBA.
- Support the FBA Retail by understanding and integrating with business to enhance services offered and identify new service finance can initiate to support business.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Support the Head of Retail (FBA Retail) by providing financial analysis, reports, and insights to support decision-making within the retail division.
- Monitor financial performance, identify key trends, and analyze variances against budgets and forecasts.
- Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
- Prepare regular financial reports for retail leaders and senior management.
- Monitor performance against approved business cases and approved budget.
- Maintain project budgets and forecasts.
- Ensure adherence to financial reporting standards and regulations and avoid conflicts of interest that could comprise objectivity.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Lead or contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting processes for the retail division.
- Work closely with FBA Retail to develop accurate and realistic financial plans.
- Monitor and analyze budget vs. actual performance throughout the financial year.
- Provide support through setting clear goals, providing direction and creating a culture of accountability.
- Prepare main drivers for input into budgets in conjunction with HOD and management team.
Financial Performance
- Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the financial performance of the retail division.
- Provide recommendations for improvements based on performance data.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and revenue enhancement within the retail operations.
- Work with retail teams to implement cost-saving measures.
- Collaborate effectively with cross functional teams to develop a model that identifies future potential financial issues and develop contingency plans i.e. identifying revenue stream and optimising expenses to address possible potential issues that may arise
Risk Management and internal Control
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on all risk and compliance related issues, ( e.g. Control and Legal Self Assessments, Operations Risk matrix, Store licensing and trading compliance & BCP’s)
- Identify financial risks and uncertainties that may impact the retail division's financial performance.
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure financial stability.
Contract Support
- Commercial input on contracts.
- Collaborate with the FBA Retail to review commercial contracts, ensuring they align with the organization's financial objectives.
- Analyze the financial terms and conditions of contracts to identify potential risks and opportunities
Relationships
- Work directly with FBAs, FBPs and when required with Business, Finance COE, and Business Services for Finance functional areas to ensure practices and policies meet the business and stakeholder needs.
- Work with employees in the business to resolve or assist with issues raised.
