    Clinical Advisor at Anova Health Institute

    The successful candidate will provide technical, capacity building and health system strengthening support to enhance DoH’s ability at facility level to manage the treatment of HIV and related services to the public. The candidate must be able to provide expert technical expertise in the implementation of 90-90-90 strategy for TB/HIV/PMTCT, and to lead health system strengthening efforts of the HIV / Tuberculosis and PMTCT programme in Cape Town in close collaboration with the Department of Health and other relevant stakeholders. The candidate must also direct the implementation of the project’s health systems strengthening and quality improvement plan and oversee capacity building efforts in quality improvement activities for Anova and DOH staff in the supported district.   The Clinical Advisor will be a member of a clinical / technical support team and will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide site support for the implementation, improvement and expansion of HIV and related public health care services.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide clinical advice to Department of Health (DoH) and Anova staff on HIV, TB, PMTCT & Pediatric management
    • Provide technical assistance for programs design and planning in your cluster; assessing current health system’s needs, and implementing activities to support project reporting requirements and routine projects management for your support cluster/district
    • Support DoH in implementation and roll out of effective, efficient District strategic HAST programs in line with 909090 and NSP (2017 – 2022) goals
    • Compile monthly & quarterly regular reports for Anova, Funders and DOH as required on the program
    • Identify barriers to service delivery through strategic planning and made recommendations
    • Supports development of systems to track and monitor indicator and programs performance for effective facility and sub-district QI planning
    • Support the district and sub-district in planning and conducting ongoing and quarterly programmatic reviews (HIV, DIP, PMTCT, TB, and Ideal Clinic etc.)
    • Identify innovative projects that can be implemented to improve performance of the PMTCT, pediatric TB and HIV programme and ensure that all project deliverables are met in a high quality, cost effective and timely fashion
    • Formulate and implement innovative research ideas in line with Anova’s objectives, gaining consent from Exco prior to embarking on research
    • Building and maintaining team spirit and cohesion
    • Engage and support managers at the facility and regional level

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

    • Registered as a Medical Practitioner (MBCHB) with HPCSA
    • Diploma in HIV management advantageous
    • Good Clinical Practice Certificate advantageous
    • Trained NIMART mentor
    • 5 years’ experience in comprehensive HIV management
    • Technical, specialist or analytical skills acquired through tertiary education or the equivalent experience
    • Able to relate to technical and or functional instructions or queries
    • Able to give technical guidance to between 1 to 5 junior staff
    • Expected to make first line attempt to solve problems
    • Expected to come up with suggestions on improved practices

    Community Linkage Officer

    We are looking for a Linkage Officer who will be responsible for HTS and ensure that proper linkage to care of all HIV infected patients is done according to DoH guidelines.

     Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Mobilising people in the communities to encourage them to get tested prior screening
    • Provide HIV testing services (HTS) to clients
    • Be available to assist all clients tested for HIV in the facility and from the community outreach sites
    • Ensure that all clients tested positive are linked into care
    • Provide Index testing to all HIV positive Clients found in the community
    • Keep proper records of clients who are tested and  initiated on ART
    • Attend program meetings as required to discuss HTS/HIV/TB/STI related issues
    • Give Health education on HIV/TB and STI
    • Ensure Quality testing by adhering to RTCQI standards 

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • At least 2 years’ experience working as a HTS counsellor preferably in the community setting
    • Certificate in Basic Hast, HIV Counselling, Adherence counselling
    • Knowledge of DoH, HTS guidelines and protocols
    • Must be able to work independently and in a team
    • Be able to work with little supervision
    • Good communication skills

    Project Coordinator

    Key duties and responsibilities:

    Implementation of clinical prevention, care, and treatment services

    Oversee and support the implementation of Anova’s Men’s program activities at the district, Sub-District, and facility level, in line with APACE strategy & workplan

    • Form part of Anova Sub-District teams and be actively involved in activities that support the MINA campaign, Men’s health services, and the overall Anova APACE strategy
    • Oversee the implementation of comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and treatment, psychological/adherence support, and SRHR services to Men, including distribution of prepacked medication/ART and PrEP (once approved by DoH)
    • Promote and support successful linkage of adolescent boys to VMMC services
    • Review weekly and monthly data on Men’s health services uptake at Men’s Health sites, PrEP uptake, retention performance against targets; then, together with M & E team and other Anova staff, develop strategies to improve performance

     Capacity building

    • Provide training to relevant staff (Internal & external staff) on comprehensive packages of Men’s program services, including MINA
    • Mentor and coach the Anova and DOH teams on critical issues related to the Management of Men living with HIV

    Stakeholder engagement

    • Engage with DOH stakeholders to get buy-in for scale-up of Men’s program activities
    • Identify other stakeholders already providing Men targeted/related activities in the subdistricts
    • Develop relationships with relevant government departments, civil society, faith-based organizations, and internal stakeholders that support or impact the project’s core objectives

    Minimum qualifications, experience, and skills required:

    • Diploma in nursing and valid registration with SANC
    • Clinical Assessment Treatment & Care (PHC Nurse Clinician)
    • At least five years’ experience in a management position with at least two-year experience within the Male program's comprehensive HIV/TB programs essential
    • Understanding TB/HIV/PrEP guidelines, Male program indicators, and monitoring & evaluation
    • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to develop and carry out work plans and solve problems within the Men’s health program
    • General knowledge of health systems – facility and community HCT, etc
    • Teamwork, Ability to multitask and communication skills
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Computer Literate MS Office
    • Analytical skills

    Enrolled Nurse

    We are looking for an Enrolled Nurse to provide support to the Department of Health (DoH) facilities with the implementation of HIV Testing Service (HTS), TB screening, promotion of family planning and provision of sexual reproductive health services, enhanced adherence counselling and facilitation of adherence clubs and other CCMDD modalities.

     Key duties and responsibilities:

    • Screen patients for STIs, TB/HIV and refer for further management
    • Facilitate and establish support groups for patients living with HIV/AIDS
    • Establish and implement adolescent ART support groups at all targeted facilities
    • Assist at alternative distribution sites to ensure efficient running of the programme
    • Support and perform monitoring activities including updating of registers, collection of statistics and validation of data
    • Compile and analyse patient data and statistics as required
    • Provide in-service training on facilitation of support groups to Department of Health’s (DoH) facility Enrolled Nurses
    • Compile and submit relevant reports weekly, monthly and quarterly
    • Collecting blood for viral load and other monitoring bloods
    • Completion of Laboratory specimen forms completely and follow up of results from Lab
    • Assist with implementation of decanting modalities at facility level as per need (Cohorting, Phlebotomy, completion of register etc.) to ensure efficient running of the programme.

    Minimum qualifications, experience and skills required:

     Grade 12 (Matric)

    • Enrolled Nurse qualification and registered with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
    • At least 2- years working in HIV and TB related programmes
    • Experience working in public health facilities, engaging with adolescent and youth will be an advantage
    • Written and verbal communication skills

    Nurse Mentor

    We are looking for a Nurse Mentor to give technical support and capacity building on Comprehensive Care, Management and Treatment (CCMT) program and mentor staff at facilities in all areas of CCMT.

     Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Health System Strengthening

    • Mentoring of staff at facilities in all program areas of CCMT
    • Initiate and organize internal training and workshops based on needs and request
    • Support the Department of Health and collaborate with other NGOs on implementation of CCMT program and community events
    • Ensure implementation of the recent CCMT guidelines and protocols
    • Identify program support needs at facilities and advise accordingly
    • Facilitate integration of different CCMT services

    Monitoring and Skill Development

    • Design development plan, based on identified needs and develop materials together with senior medical officers
    • Support the Department of Health in conducting training 
    • Empower colleagues (e.g. orientation and knowledge transfer)
    • Provide solution on complicated cases together with clinic’s staff including referrals to relevant discipline at different levels of care
    • Mentoring on acute service delivery in incidental cases including dispensing, recording and counselling

    Strengthening internal role and Administration

    • Assist all other Anova projects with planning, organizing and execution of support activities 
    • Assist with quarterly statistics collection
    • Attend sub-district office meetings, all other relevant meetings/ workshops and skills development initiatives
    • Submit work plans, requests and reports timeously as agreed
    • Ensure and maintain required quality of written communication including reports and emails     
    • Ensure documentation of tracing activities at facility level by staff involved and at community level by WBOTs teams reporting to supported facilities
    • Support QI projects as assigned
    • Support other interventions prioritized at any point during the performance contract period

    Research

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • Professional Nurse with Midwifery Diploma or Degree and registered with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
    • NIMART trained, mentored and certified as competent
    • 2 to 5 years’ experience in working as a Professional Nurse including work in TB/HIV/AIDS environment
    • Have knowledge and experience in TB/HIV/AIDS management

    Human Resources Administrator

    We are looking for a meticulous, detail-oriented individual to ensure efficient support to the Parktown HR team. The main purpose of the role is to ensure effective administration support to the HR Department in Parktown.

    Key duties and responsibilities:

    HR Administration and reporting 

    • Support Human Resources Department with the HR Administration as and when required.
    • Generate letter of employments, addendums, increase and bonus letters etc.
    • Ensure all new employee and termination documentation reaches payroll timeously.
    • File and store recruitment requisitions, job profiles and performance contracts.
    • Update employee files as and when changes occur.
    • Verify, collate, and follow up on timesheets to ensure they are submitted on time and are correct.
    • Prepare work-back agreements and acknowledgement of debts and submit to payroll.
    • Assist with collation of study leave and private work.

    Recruitment Support

    • Assist with drafting of job advertisements.

    Facilitate Employee Engagement process 

    • Assist employees with the completion of engagement packs.

    • Send out monthly updates on new appointments and terminations to the HR Manager.

    Minimum qualifications and experience:

    • Grade 12 (Matric).
    • Diploma in at least one of the following disciplines: Human Resources, Labour Relations and/or Industrial Psychology
    • At least 2-3 years HR administrative and generalist experience.
    • Minimum 2 years recruitment experience.

    Mobile Clinic Driver

    Anova’s Jab Smart project was set up in late-2017 to respond to HIV among people who use drugs (PWUD) in City of Johannesburg (COJ). PWUD are at particular risk of HIV and suffer high levels of stigma and prejudice, often being denied access to essential health services. Jab Smart is a peer-led project that provides a range of harm reduction services to PWID. The project is implemented together with the COJ Health District, and it is supported by Global Fund through its partner NACOSA.

    Anova is looking for a mobile clinic driver to drive our mobile clinic and trailer to various sites that we support around the Johannesburg Metro and surrounding districts to help with the roll out of our PWUD programme. The successful incumbent will also be required to assist with the HTS responsibilities such as mobilizing, counselling and testing.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Drive mobile clinic and a trailer to various sites
    • Transport staff and clients to various destinations
    • Keep records of kilometers travelled, manage and record them on logbook.
    • Manage and maintain all contents of the mobile clinic
    • Ensure all the regulatory requirements for operating the mobile clinic are adhered to
    • Report vehicle accident or damage immediately to the immediate supervisor
    • Plan and allocate vehicles trips on a day-to-day basis.
    • Transports staff as per the needs of the outreach.
    • Conduct HTS responsibilities, provide support and administrative services
    • Assisting nurses with the operation of the mobile clinic
    • Ensure safety of vehicle and staff transported
    • Ensure that pre-trips and post-trips are conducted daily
    • Ensure that the vehicle is always parked at Anova premises.
    • Keep up to date with the relevant policies and SOP’s

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

    • Minimum grade 12
    • Code 10 drivers license with a trailer and PrDP
    • Must have no impairments or endorsements
    • 5 Years drivers experience driving mobile clinic/code 10 vehicle or bigger and towing and backing up a          trailer
    • The incumbent will have to pass the interview and drivers assessment with a trailer.
    • 1 year experience working as an HTS Counsellor
    • Training in Basic HAST, HIV Counselling, Adherence Counselling
    • Knowledge of DoH HTS guidelines & protocols
    • Problem solving and customer service skills
    • Be familiar with Johannesburg Metro and surrounding districts
    • Must be able to work independently and in a team
    • Computer literate (Ms Office)
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Willing to travel to various communities as and when required
