    Security Supervisor -Musina

    Job Description:
    As the Security Supervisor, your role will be to plan, lead, organize and control the relevant Security activities of Venetia Mine according to Security practices to maximize Safety, Environmental, Health and Security risks and achieve the set targets.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Co-ordinates and implements security operational plan
    • Continually assesses security and production operational practices
    • Manages subordinates' key result areas by setting and monitoring performance standards
    • Conducts on-going Security vulnerability and risk assessments and uses the results to minimise loss
    • Develops and maintains internal and external networks and contacts
    • Investigates general crime offences
    • Works closely with the Security Operational Manager at the operation in building a strong security culture and positive social contract with employees in high risk areas

    Qualifications:
    Formal qualifications:

    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • Relevant Tertiary Qualification in Security Management, Risk Management or recognized qualification at NQF level 7 (Degree or National Higher Diploma)
    • Be registered with PSIRA Grade “A”

    Additional requirements:

    • Code 08 Drivers License
    • Must be prepared to work shifts
    • Successful completion of screening & competency (SHL) assessments as well as required integrity testing
    • Candidates will be required to undergo a Medical Examination of fitness as per the inherent requirements of the position

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • Minimum of 3-8 years’ experience in the security discipline with particular experience at supervisory level

    • Thorough knowledge of vulnerability and risk assessment procedures 
    • Knowledge and application of industry legislation and Compliance to local regulatory bodies

    Group Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Manager - Southern Africa

    Job Description:
    The Group Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Manager will play a significant role in advancing the Equity, Inclusion and Diversity strategy and vision to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture that embraces individual uniqueness and empowers individuals to bring their whole selves to deliver excellence.

    The main responsibilities will include: 

    • Support implementation of the Building Forever Accelerating Equal Opportunity pillar and critical foundations in inclusion and diversity.
    • Grow the organization's expertise and best practice in the areas of inclusion and diversity, both in terms of the extractive and the luxury and consumer facing sectors with a focus on southern Africa perspectives.
    • Support the Head, Equity and Inclusion and the HR Leadership to develop and achieve Group diversity targets and actions to develop an inclusive culture.
    • Support implementation of De Beers global workforce I&D Programme within business units and functions and track implementation towards I&D Building Forever Goals through continuous improvement of meaningful and accurate metrics and data.
    • Supports management of the Inclusion and Diversity Steering Group and employee Inclusion and Diversity Leadership Council with the the Group Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Team and liaises with employee networks to strengthen the inclusion of colleague voice in the Equity, Inclusion and Diversity strategy, plans and implementation.
    • Work with Group Talent, HR Leadership and business unit teams to integrate all aspects of inclusion and diversity into recruitment, talent, organisational effectiveness and planning.
    • Drafts updates and manages reporting process for Executive Committee as needed, coordinating with rest of EID team.
    • Project management and implementation of group wide I&D initiatives and management of evaluation and improvement processes for southern African business units.
    • Identify opportunities to partner with multi-laterals, civil society, grant-making bodies, universities and other relevant organizations to form partnerships that advance the Group’s Building Forever Inclusion and Diversity goals.
    • Engage with senior leaders and other stakeholders across De Beers Group and with external experts and or private sector peers to share lessons learned related I&D.

    Qualifications:

    • Degree level or equivalent in a relevant field.

    Knowledge and experience required:

    • Proven track record at building relationships internally and externally to build momentum on the I&D agenda and areas of focus.
    • Proven Project Management experience in delivering transformation initiatives.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Strong analytical skills, using data to build and support proposed business and project plans.
    • Experience of developing dynamic I&D programs and of delivering projects and initiatives across multiple cultures.
    • Experience of developing and tracking effectiveness of inclusion and diversity strategies and initiatives.

    Project Geologist – RSA Exploration

    Job Description:

    The purpose of the Project Geologist is to drive the safe and sustainable delivery of diamond exploration project plans and outputs. Designed to discover and deliver new viable sources of diamonds, by ensuring technical excellence, leadership and ethical business compliance.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Support the translation of the program portfolio into specific work plans for the designated diamond exploration phases.
    • Manage and implement a project plan for designated area based on project management fundamentals detailing the project planning, execution and closure phases.
    • Ensure timely and accurate Project reporting to ensure adequacy of project management controls and initiate remedial actions to ensure project momentum and costing is maintained within defined parameters.
    • Manage and oversee technical outcomes to ensure the delivery of results in accordance with the Technical Governance Standards.
    • Interpret data to identify and prioritize targets within the scope of each project and schedule/adapt project plan to ensure inter-dependencies and logistics adequately covered.
    • Drive focused and robust problem solving and decision making sessions inducing a sense of urgency to deliver priority based outcomes to improve technical delivery and optimized project management.
    • Build and maintain strategic relationships and partnering with external providers, communities and related stakeholders to ensure the seamless delivery of objectives.
    • Contribute towards the development and refinement of an Exploration Project Management Best Practice and Knowledge Capture/Transfer approach.
    • Facilitate and participate in various Communities of Practice forums and learning interventions.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Geology or Geophysics.
    • A valid international driver’s license for SADC.

    Knowledge and experience required

    • Project or Program Management would be an advantage.
    • Demonstrated experience in leading field based diamond exploration activities.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing commercial, governance and SHE with an emphasis on ISO14001 and OHSAS18001.
    • Demonstrated experience in a people leadership role within a technical diamond exploration environment.

    ECOHS Coordinator – RSA Exploration

    Job Description:
    The purpose of the ECOHS Coordinator is to maximize the ECOHS performance and compliance of field-based teams and operations, focusing on drilling, transportation activities and support contractors and other key stakeholders in our objectives to obtain Zero Harm through coaching, mentoring, advising, training and compliance audits. 

    Key responsibilities:

    • Ensure that contractors comply with De Beers Group contractor management and safety standards and guidelines.
    • Enforce site rules and regulations and drive contractor behavior by having regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, inductions, inspections, etc.
    • Liaise with contractor safety representatives to ensure that project objectives and targets are well communicated and implemented.
    • Manage the corrective action lists arising from inspections or audits and facilitate closure of actions.
    • Develop basic training material to improve safety performance around drill rigs and other work spaces.
    • Compile ECOHS statistics for own area of operation.
    • Participate in ECOHS audits and / or risk assessments.
    • Ensure that all systems documentation as they relate to hazard identification and risk management are kept active and on file.
    • Verify on a daily basis that emergency response equipment such as first aid kits, radio’s, fire fighting equipment etc. are in good working order.
    • Support compliance with ISO 14001 and EMP, as well as relevant and applicable De Beers Group standards.
    • Support Sustainability Initiatives and facilitate effective working relationships with key stakeholders.

    Qualifications:

    • Degree/Diploma in Safety Management.
    • Drill and/or transportation/loading safety qualification would be advantageous.

    Knowledge and experience required

    • Demonstrated experience in relevant ECOHS role and conducting ECOHS audits.
    • Proven track record of risk management.
    • Experience in incident and accident investigation.
    • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001

    Engineering Training Officer - Musina

    Job Description:

    This role is responsible for implementing and ensuring adherence to technical training objectives

    As a Engineering Training Officer you will;

    • Manage apprentices in own discipline, ensuring compliance to learnership requirements.
    • Moderate apprentice assessments and ensure portfolio is complete.
    • Facilitate various on-mine engineering courses, i.e. hot work permits, DITLms.
    • Assessment of all competency based related training and moderate POE’s.
    • Mentor learners and provide support and guidance where needed.
    • Provide on-the-job training for learners to ensure application of learned skills.
    • Prepare and conduct panel interviews in preparation for trade testing.
    • Actively pursue the exchange and protection of training information and data to ensure effective data and information system according to Legislative and Organizational requirements.
    • Ensure that all tests are moderated, results maintained and records are endorsed and that the necessary practical exercises are completed.
    • Compile and submit reports as required.
    • Update time and attendance for learners in own discipline.
    • Executed training according to COP’S policies, procedures and group technical standards.
    • Alignment to QCTO Curriculum and requirements.
    • Deliver on the day-to-day Engineering Training functions and maintain a high and professional training standard.
    • Regular inspections to ensure quality training and assisting with audits.
    • Contribute in ensuring the development and updating of engineering learning material and assessment guides for own disciplines.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Conduct first-line maintenance on simulators.

    Qualifications:

    Formal Qualifications

    • Grade12/N3 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification
    • Qualified Artisan (Boilermaking / Plater/Welder discipline)
    • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience post trade qualification
    • Certificate (L4) in ODETDP will be advantageous.
    • Coach the Learner will be advantageous.
    • Train the Trainer will be advantageous.
    • Registered Assessor will be advantageous.
    • Registered moderator will be advantageous

    Role Specific Knowledge:

    • Experience in Engineering related equipment
    • Working knowledge of the MHSA Act
    • Working knowledge of the MQA
    • Experience with ISO 9001/2008 in an Engineering Training environment
    • Advanced computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office applications
    • Ability to work with limited supervision
    • Ability to present training information to all levels of employees

    Other Requirements:

    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness Certificate) for underground work including HTS
