  • Senior Superintendent

    Job Purpose
    To direct the consolidation of crime, traffic and by-law related inputs for functional objective setting purposes to give effect to the mandate of the municipality of protecting its citizens and enforcing Municipal Policing Laws and By-Laws by developing and aligning plans and responsibilities of the
    Metropolitan Police Service's functional key performance areas; researching best practice
    approaches and reviewing policy frameworks; implementing procedures, systems and controls to
    guide the development of a management framework, overseeing of the operations and services in
    relation to crime prevention, traffic enforcement and by-law enforcement; managing the process of
    integrating information and management reporting requirements in order to ensure the
    functionality is positioned to adequately deal with the three primary functions of a Metropolitan
    Police Service.

    Key Responsibility Areas

    •  Manages the Metro Headquarters command, Operational command.
    •  Formats strategic directives for the command in conjunction with the Head (Metro Police)
    • through specialist input.
    •  Determines the short, medium- and long-term goals, objectives, action plans, operating
    • standards, performance targets of the command.
    •  Responsible for the overall Training and Development function including, but not limited to
    • Research and Planning of such functions.
    •  Responsible for the overall public relations function, logistic functions, specialist technical
    • functions.
    •  Attends to complaints from the public, other departments, institutions / organisations which
    • cannot be resolved at a lower level of command.
    •  Controls and directs overall capital and operating budgets for the Metro Headquarters and
    • Operational commands.
    •  Controls and directs all departmental assets in the command.

    Communicable Disease Co-Ordinator

    Job Purpose

    • Plans and coordinates the application of procedures and sequences associated with Communicable Diseases.

    Key Responsibility Areas

    •  Identifies with communicable diseases strategy with respect to service delivery and, defines,
    • co-ordinates and monitors the short term plans/ objective for the functionality pertaining to
    • research, surveillance, field work, training, compliance.
    •  Communicates with the Deputy Manager on specific key performance areas (tests/analysis)
    • and statutory requirements encapsulated in Health Legislation with a view to aligning
    • functions and service delivery objectives against the capacity and capability of the
    • Department.
    •  Analysing service delivery trends and capacity against requirements to facilitate the
    • preparation of capital and operational expenditure estimates to support plans and
    • objectives.
    •  Assessing and reporting on the impact of Communicable Diseases awareness programmes
    • and addresses comments and opinions from community structures and the public with
    • regards to service delivery capabilities and performance.
    •  Reviewing compliance with Policies and Procedures relating to disease outbreaks, with
    • specific reference to significant and salient aspects of the eThekwini District Plan on
    • Epidemic preparedness and response.
    •  Reviewing the reliability, integrity, storage and sharing of information regarding Disease
    • Outbreaks, with various stakeholders including Provincial and National Government.
    •  Reporting on continuous infringement or serious contraventions to Deputy Manager for
    • approval to institute further or urgent measures such as termination of operations, closure
    • of premises and issuing of fines.
    •  Manages the implementation of training and development strategies aimed at creating
    • awareness to communicable diseases with health legislation and by-laws.
    •  Co-ordinating surveillance through monitoring the movement of people from other
    • countries for communicable diseases e.g. Influx of foreigners coming into the country where
    • communicable diseases outbreaks have been recorded.
    •  Co-ordinates specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key
    • performance and result indicators of the functionality and linkages to Provincial/National
    • Government, World Health Organisation and academic research institutions.

    Hr Systems Officer

    Job Purpose
    The efficient functioning of the HC Information Systems and HC Modules within ERP Business
    Computer Systems (e.g. Ellipse) and to ensure an efficient administrative service is provided.

    This post reports to MANAGER (HC SYSTEMS)
