PURPOSE

• To lead and supervise the execution of engineering maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety, legal and company standards while optimising equipment availability, reliability and performance to support safe and uninterrupted production.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate and Promote Health and Safety on Site

• Maintain FAT RSA Plant safety policy and procedure requirements.
• Promote and drive a strong safety culture.
• Conduct and review risk assessments and facilitate toolbox talks, safety briefings and pre-task planning sessions.
• Perform planned task observations (PTOs) and Visible Felt Leadership (VFLs) engagements.
• Ensure zero harm principles are consistently applied and embedded in all Engineering activities.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, identify root causes, implement and monitor corrective actions.

Planning and Coordination

• Liaise with Engineering, Production and other relevant stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise operational disruptions.
• Monitor and evaluate equipment condition monitoring reports.
• Prepare, allocate and issue work schedules and job cards through the On-Key system.
• Coordinate and monitor planned, preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance planning using On-Key system.
• Raise requisitions for maintenance spares, materials as required on SAGE system.
• Monitor the movement, availability and logistics of equipment.
• Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations.

Administration and Reporting

• Perform administrative duties to ensure the accuracy, completeness and availability of records.
• Prepare  and manage standby rosters and participate in the standby duties.
• Compile and submit weekly and month-end engineering and maintenance reports.
• Generate cost reports and other management reports as required.
• Liaise with clients on site to coordinate engineering activities, address operational requirements and maintain effective working relationships.

Team Management

• Select and appoint competent and passionate staff
• Plan, schedule, coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the Engineering team.
• Monitor team performance and maintain discipline in accordance with company policies.
• Provide coaching and on-the-job training to develop employee complete.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate (Section 26)
• All training certificates and training module documentation be available from accredited training centre.
• Valid driver’s licence
• MHSA supervision qualifications will be added advantage
• Auto electrical qualification and experience will be added advantage

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum five years Artisan experience in mining / construction / transport / plant hire or manufacturing – yellow machine orientated (ADTs, excavators, graders, wheel loaders, water bowsers)
• Minimum three years experience as an Engineering Foreman/Supervisor, preferable in the mining environment

• To assist the business in making critical business decisions by analysing and presenting key financial data in preparing forecasts, budgets and performing risk/variance analysis. Implementing effective cost management techniques to maximise profits and reduce costs.

Operational

• Develop systems or procedures for accumulation systems and/or cost accounting functions.
• Predict, plan and record variable costs.
• Review and analyse actual costs to identify opportunities for reductions and anomalies to maximise profits.
• Determine and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Analyse financial data and trends to guide strategic decision.
• Develop and maintain financial models that drive business performance.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, inventory and other.
• Assisting with audit requests and processes.
• Provide actionable insights to enhance profitability and cost efficiency.

Reporting

• Review, analyse and report actual profit margins.
• Recommend ways of cutting costs.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of management reports by Divisions and by site.
• Conduct variance analysis – deep dives to enhance profitability of projects.
• Assist in preparing and supplying operational finance information to Divisions.

Budget and Forecast

• Assist with the annual budget preparation and reporting process.
• Provide support in preparing necessary operations’ annual budget reports.
• Track budgeting and costs and ensure spending is in line with budgets.
• Develop and maintain forecasts to assist projects planning and decision-making.

Governance

• Ensure the Divisions are compliant with relevant legislation (Income Tax Act, Value Added Tax Act, etc.) including legislative amendments and industry best practices.
• Advise on solutions to relevant stakeholders.
• Assist in preparing the annual audit file for external Auditors, various reconciliations and assist external Auditors with queries.
• Assist with the internal audit during annual internal audit process.

Team Management

• Manage the day-to-day activities of the team .
• Provide support and assistance to the team to fulfil their responsibilities.
• Coach, train and develop the team.
• Manage delivery of services against SLAs entered.

Transactional Shared Services / Financial Accounting

• Prepare monthly journals .
• Review reconciliations performed by team.
• Review cost allocation of purchase requests.
• Prepare reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
• Provide quality accounting support and technical advice to key internal stakeholders.
• Ensuring completeness of transactions on the system on a timeous basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum requirements CIMA / CGMA
• BCom Accounting with Articles
• Chartered Accountancy qualification will be advantageous

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum five years related experience in a construction, mining or tailings environment
• SAGE ERP experience would be an advantage
• Contract allowance accounting experience
