Engineering Foreman (6-Months Contract) (Gauteng) at Fraser Alexander (Pty) Ltd.

PURPOSE

• To lead and supervise the execution of engineering maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety, legal and company standards while optimising equipment availability, reliability and performance to support safe and uninterrupted production.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate and Promote Health and Safety on Site

• Maintain FAT RSA Plant safety policy and procedure requirements.
• Promote and drive a strong safety culture.
• Conduct and review risk assessments and facilitate toolbox talks, safety briefings and pre-task planning sessions.
• Perform planned task observations (PTOs) and Visible Felt Leadership (VFLs) engagements.
• Ensure zero harm principles are consistently applied and embedded in all Engineering activities.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, identify root causes, implement and monitor corrective actions.

Planning and Coordination

• Liaise with Engineering, Production and other relevant stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise operational disruptions.
• Monitor and evaluate equipment condition monitoring reports.
• Prepare, allocate and issue work schedules and job cards through the On-Key system.
• Coordinate and monitor planned, preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance planning using On-Key system.
• Raise requisitions for maintenance spares, materials as required on SAGE system.
• Monitor the movement, availability and logistics of equipment.
• Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations.

Administration and Reporting

• Perform administrative duties to ensure the accuracy, completeness and availability of records.
• Prepare  and manage standby rosters and participate in the standby duties.
• Compile and submit weekly and month-end engineering and maintenance reports.
• Generate cost reports and other management reports as required.
• Liaise with clients on site to coordinate engineering activities, address operational requirements and maintain effective working relationships.

Team Management

• Select and appoint competent and passionate staff
• Plan, schedule, coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the Engineering team.
• Monitor team performance and maintain discipline in accordance with company policies.
• Provide coaching and on-the-job training to develop employee complete.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 / N3 Engineering Studies
• Qualified Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate (Section 26)
• All training certificates and training module documentation be available from accredited training centre.
• Valid driver’s licence
• MHSA supervision qualifications will be added advantage
• Auto electrical qualification and experience will be added advantage

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum five years Artisan experience in mining / construction / transport / plant hire or manufacturing – yellow machine orientated (ADTs, excavators, graders, wheel loaders, water bowsers)
• Minimum three years experience as an Engineering Foreman/Supervisor, preferable in the mining environment
