    Full Stack Engineer

    Role Purpose 

    We are looking for a highly motivated Software Developer with at least 4 years commercial experience and a strong background in high-performance systems. The position requires a driven, ambitious team player who enjoys a challenging, fast-paced environment. 

    As a Software Engineer at Iress based in either our Johannesburg, Cape town or Durban offices, you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining complex financial planning solutions for wealth and financial planning professionals, taking ownership of significant deliverables and collaborating with agile team members. The medium term prospect is to get exposure writing software in languages like C#, Python and React. 

    Accountabilities & Deliverables 

    • Develop and support client-facing and server-side applications and systems in a variety of programming languages and developer tools
    • Design and develop cloud first solutions using microservice architecture pattern and by utilisation of the Iress Platform Foundation services
    • Build integration systems to take on data, translate, persist data for the purpose of making it available to client facing software and internal services
    • Promote and implement test automation, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines
    • Collaborate with team members in a self-autonomous Agile squad where everyone is involved in product decisions
    • Contribute to implementing a DevOps culture
    • Solve complex problems at scale, developing high performance and quality applications with a global user base
    • Communicates positively and confidently at all times.

    Core Skills, Knowledge and Attributes 

    • You will have at least 4 years commercial experience as a Software Engineer
    • Experience with relational database technologies 
    • Experience with continuous integration build processes (TFS, Hudson, Jenkins, buildkite) 
    • Have a solid understanding of system design, data structures and design patterns
    • Have a solid understanding of the concepts of multi-threading, event processing, data persistence strategies, network communications, GUI building, component development and object oriented software development

    Key Competencies

    • Solid full stack development experience using a variety of programming languages including Python, C# .NET Framework, .NET Core, JavaScript (server and client side)
    • Experience using a variety of JavaScript libraries, frameworks and tools e.g. React, Redux, Node.js etc.
    • Relational database design and development skills
    • Git version control system (Bitbucket and/or GitHub)
    • Good understanding of design patterns and software frameworks
    • Good understanding using technologies like Docker, Docker Compose and Artifactory
    • Worked with AWS cloud hosted solutions using services like ECS, S3, RDS PostGresSQL, Cloudfront, Cloudwatch, API Gateway and Lambda 
    • Worked with Cloud monitoring tools like Datadog 
    • Experience delivering solutions within Agile teams using Scrum and/or Kanban
    • A combination of personal traits (innovative, collaborative, honest, high integrity, intensity and passion)
    • Communicates positively and confidently at all times

    Account Manager

    Role Purpose

    As an Account Manager at Iress, you will be focused on retaining as well as growing revenue on existing and new products/solutions within your existing client base and broader client circles. You will also have core responsibility for the financial performance of the account/program/projects managed.

    This role oversees day-to-day relationships with clients and working collaboratively to cultivate future projects and qualify new opportunities. You will work closely with and consult with other functions (including product support, client solutions and finance) to ensure mutual objectives are met.

    Accountabilities & Deliverables

    • Be able to identify and close on new revenue opportunities as well as retain client revenue through structured and constant client and user engagement
    • Articulate Iress roadmaps/enhancements eloquently to clients/users at all levels. 
    • Introduce and drive additional campaigns with existing client base to drive new revenue
    • Meet and exceed agreed revenue targets
    • Generate leads, new sales and commercial proposals
    • Manage billing for client base, ensuring commercial proposals are approved and effectively documented
    • Responsible for the overall client experience throughout the project(s) by juggling and prioritising items
    • Prioritise and coordinate projects, quality, and timely delivery according to budget, and in line with stakeholder expectations
    • Oversee solution implementation to ensure delivery as per client expectations
    • Ensure that the users are sufficiently skilled in the use of the relevant Iress products and are kept up to date on new features and enhancements
    • Present product demos and front end-user training as and where required
    • Negotiate client contracts and commercials

    Key Competencies

    • Core working experience within the Financial Service sector required with demonstrated experience with Trading and Investment Management
    • A strong understanding of financial markets and products
    • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise, delegate and respond to queries in a timely and appropriate manner
    • Self-motivated with strong initiative to liaise with clients in order to understand their requirements
    • Strong commercial and business acumen
    • Excellent communication, relationship building and networking skills
    • Excellent analytical skills to evaluate the client, competitors as well as industry landscapes and make recommendations to drive profitability and gain market share
    • Strong influencing, negotiation, critical thinking and problem solving skills
