BJECTIVE:
To design/develop and implement all aspects of the Mintek Building Maintenance programme. Ensure all building related infrastructure is maintained in a serviceable state and kept up to standard, while ensuring compliance to SANAS and other relevant standards of new installations. To provide technical guidance and management regarding the inspection, installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of all building related systems.
KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS:
Maintenance
- Develop, update and review maintenance plans for building infrastructure.
- Ensure that all building infrastructure and surrounding assets are managed and maintained up to standard.
- Conduct engineering investigations and offer technical solutions.
- Optimally utilise available resources to achieve targets.
- Respond to customer generated work requests; prioritize, schedule, and assign work to staff.
- Ensure work carried out meets required quality standards.
- Maintain and improve existing engineering processes.
- Supervise all breakdown repair work, ensure resolution and timely execution.
- Perform analysis on infrastructure-related breakdowns and provide solutions for improved uptime.
- Liaise with clients and other engineers to ensure maintenance and projects are completed to specifications.
- Daily inspections of buildings and grounds.
- Advise the Head and Manager on the status of equipment and plant.
- Maintain the campus buildings for proper operations with the use of equipment in a safe manner using acceptable safety procedures.
Project Management
- Manage infrastructure projects/scope on CMS activities.
- Participate in pre-construction plan reviews and in the inspection of all new construction and renovation projects.
- Define the technical requirements and feasibility of a project.
- Ensure the work follows strict health and safety guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
- Develop step-by-step project plans.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary project team.
- Negotiate with designers, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Liaise with staff at every level.
- Oversee several aspects of a project at the same time.
- Ensure each stage of the project happens on time, on budget, and to a high standard.
- Share regular progress reports with the client and stakeholders.
- Resolve any issues or delays.
Health and Safety
- Identify hazards and mitigating factors associated with work activities.
- Conduct risk assessments on all new tasks and dangerous activities.
- Issue work permits where required.
Budget
- Provide input to the Infrastructure Maintenance budget which is aligned to the maintenance plans.
- Control budget allocated to cost centre.
- Prioritize planned maintenance to ensure critical items are provided for in the budget.
- Monitor materials and spares issued to minimize wastage.
- Control budget allocated to cost centre.
- Implement effective budget control measures by avoiding expensive routes in executing.
- Project and maintenance work.
Procurement
- Initiate and specify procurement of maintenance spares and tools.
- Onsite job evaluations i.e. Site visits, Problem Definition, and Resource Planning for work.
- Liaise with planning office in expediting orders.
- Participate in tender specifications and evaluations.
- Generate technical specifications for Procurement.
Human Resource Development
- Identify skills gap in team and provide guidance on improving skills.
- Perform job observations.
- Identify training needs within the team.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff and trainees.
Administration
- Compile monthly reports on section performance and activities undertaken.
- Provide regular feedback on the status of projects.
- Manage section performance.
Other
- Implement and maintain maintenance strategies to achieve the required long-term goals.
- Implement methods to reduce consumption.
- Liaise with Internal clients on issues of maintenance that affect their plant and equipment.
- Manage maintenance contracts with external service providers and ensure agreed work is carried out as scheduled.
- Provide input into company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring appropriate data management at all sections and all levels of the organisation.
QUALIFICATION AND JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Min: BSc Engineering
- Ideal: BSc Engineering, Pr Eng registration with ECSA
- Min: Building and Facility management training
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Engineer

OBJECTIVE:
Mintek is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Head: Internal Audit to provide an independent, objective assurance and consulting service designed to add value and improve Mintek’s operations. To help Mintek accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls and governance processes.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
Strategic capability and Leadership
- Provide strategic direction to the internal audit section and oversee the effective functioning of the section.
Strategic planning
- Compile internal audit’s three year strategic plan and one year annual plan which is in line with Mintek’s strategic plan.
- Ensure that the internal audit plan is approved by the audit committee.
Strategy execution and project management
- Ensure delivery of the annual internal audit plan and overall delivery of the section.
- Ensure that internal audit files and reports meet the required standards.
- Ensure that internal audit projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
Audit Committee / Board / Executive communication and support
- Build and maintain relationships with the Board, Audit committee, the CEO, Executive Management and Senior Management and ensure implementation of decisions from these structures relevant to Internal Audit.
- Represent Internal Audit at EXCO, MANCOM, Audit Committee, Board, IT Steering committee, SAP Steering committee, Fraud Prevention Committee, Risk Management Committee, Bid Adjudication committee.
- Provide input into and advice the Executive on policy formulation, risk management and compliance issues.
- Compile quarterly performance reports on internal audit’s performance to be included in Mintek’s quarterly reports.
Financial management
- Compile and manage the internal audit budget ensuring that budget is not exceeded.
Fraud Prevention
- Conduct fraud awareness campaigns throughout Mintek.
- Ensure investigation of allegations reported through Tip Off Anonymous line according to the relevant policies. .
People management
- Coach internal audit staff (formally & informally) on providing meaningful feedback.
- Encourage and supports development activities e.g. coaching, training etc.
- Ensure that the internal audit section is collectively suitably skilled and competent to deliver on its mandate
Client orientation
- Establish and maintains cross functional relationships within and outside Mintek.
- Liaise with the Auditor-General and other external stakeholders.
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- 8 to 10 years’ experience in Internal Audit, 5 of which should be at management level.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Must be computer literate
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Min: Masters’ degree in Internal/external auditing or finance, with CIA/CISA/CA(SA) or equivalent
- It will be advantageous to have obtained a Post graduate qualification in CASA

Maintain an accurate vendor database and conduct supplier performance evaluations and due diligence.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- Maintain the vendor master database on the ERP system.
- Periodic vendor database clean-up.
