    Team Assistant

    Purpose of Job

    • Provide administrative/secretarial services to the relevant team thereby also assumes responsibility for general departmental management.
    • Play a vital part in the administration and smooth running of the team.
    • Provide high level support services that impact the effectiveness of the managers and functional area

    Key Accountabilities

    • Providing administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective and efficient operations.
    • Responsible for general area / department and is the team’s expert in methods and tasks efficiencies.
    • Operates within relatively standardised guidelines from superiors regarding what is required and how it is to be done.
    • Constantly interacts with people in dealing with day-to-day effectiveness of delivery.
    • Duties performed may include preparation of documents and reports, the use of office technology, compiling records, organizing, and maintaining files, posting information, greeting/referring/assisting visitors/clients/staff/others, mail distribution, and photocopying.
    • Delivery on time and within required standards. Deals with immediate and relatively short-term issues with procedural routine thinking challenges.
    • Using a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, 1HR Travel Module etc., to produce correspondence and documents and maintain presentations, records, spreadsheets, and databases.
    • Devises and maintains an effective paper-based filing system, where required for the team.
    • Prints, faxes and scans relevant documents (e.g. travel forms, etc.).
    • Sorts, distributes incoming post, organises, and sends outgoing posts.
    • Organises and stores paperwork, documents, and computer-based information.
    • Completes forms in accordance with company procedures.
    • Locate and attach appropriate files to incoming correspondence requiring replies.

    Formal Education

    • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)/ Matric

    Working Experience

    • 3+ relevant years in office administration
    • Proficiency in MS Office (including MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Teams) at advanced level.

    Snr Practitioner Corporate Social Investment

    Purpose of Job

    • To support the Social Impact project portfolio by coordinating the appropriate CSI project logistics and providing onsite event management at select projects.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Coordinate volunteer recruitment and registration.
    • Deliver project evaluation and impact reporting. Ensure all Social Impact activities are covered by the Media and Communication team.
    • Analyse and study Social Impact related donations requests and submit briefs/ proposals for approvals. Manage the relationship with non-profit organisations and identify best collaboration opportunities.
    • Guide employee volunteerism (Sasol For Good) initiatives and ensure proper implementation of activities including all required logistics and PR.
    • Ensure record keeping of all employee volunteerism (Sasol For Good) initiatives.
    • Assist in planning and implementing national, regional, and local Social Impact initiatives and programmes.
    • Prepare material required for Regulatory reporting. Support the creation of an annual plan for community engagement, community enablement including raising awareness about the organisation and development of engagement pathways, employee volunteerism plans to support Social Impact initiatives in the areas of health, education, business development, and environment.

    Learning Practitioner Instrumentation (Non Permanent)

    Purpose of Job

    • Identifies learning needs, applies methodologies, develops learning material and facilitates the training and assessments of the workforce including 18.1 and 18.2 appointments according to the legal requirements within business unit of responsibility in alignment with the Energy business learning strategy, frameworks, policies and guidelines. Each learning practitioner has a dedicated assigned business of responsibility.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Identifies required learning interventions and learning outcomes through assessing current versus required knowledge and skills and proposing gap closing interventions.
    • Assess the target population profile for learning requirements as well as learning intervention in alignment with the identified population profile in order to determine whether the intervention needs to be developed or is already available in order to address the specific identified need.
    • Designs, develops and/or selects learning methodologies of specific modules in line with relevant learning legislation and business requirements. 
    • Facilitates the process in delivering learning interventions through a variety of learning methodologies.
    • Guide learners towards competent practical application of their skills within a workplace context through e.g. application projects/assignments.
    • Conducts assessments within area of expertise, thus specific trade, using methods, activities and processes specified by appropriate legislative framework. 
    • Ensures adherence to and implementation of the Sasol learning guidelines, frameworks e.g. policies, processes and legislation.
    • Support the line managers to evaluate competence and identify gaps by using the standard competency and proficiency criteria as a guide once learners have been deployed to the respective operational areas.
    • Formulate learning plan with timelines.
    • Facilitate formal and coordinate on-the-job learning by providing learning plan with timelines.
    • Monitor progress during the training programme process against agreed learning plans. 
    • Manage performance of assigned learners according to the Sasol Code of conduct.
    • Develop, revise and update learning material as needed. 
    • Acts as moderator/assessor for 18.1 and 18.2 learners where and when required both in Sasolburg and Secunda environment, thus must be prepared to travel.
    • General supervision of learners including fulfilling role of complainant during disciplinary inquiries and completing time and attendance

    Specialist Artisan - Analyser Mechanician

    Purpose of Job

    • To perform all artisan functions related to petrochemical plant instrumentation and control system maintenance, operations support and fault finding.

    Key Accountabilities

    • An ability to read and interpret instrument loop drawings, control logic diagrams, data sheets and associated technical documents.
    • Utilization of and adherence to RCA procedures.
    • Compliance to the MOC process for changes to existing plant and equipment.
    • Gas chromatography overhaul, inspection and calibration experience
    • DCS experience (Honeywell)
    • ESD experience (Honeywell)
    • PLC experience (Siemens, Yokagawa, Mitsubishi, Rockwell, Allen Bradley)
    • A practical understanding of IS and SIL
    • A practical understanding of EX and hazardous area classifications
    • QA/QC experience with instrumentation installations.

    • Gr 12 Certificate with Maths, Science and English literacy.
    • NQF Level 4 instrument trade test certificate/Red Seal Certificate.

    Technician I Instrument & Control

    Purpose of Job

    • To perform routine maintenance, install complex digital and analog control systems, perform technical electronic, laboratory and field analysis, and repair and modify instrumentation and control systems to allow machines to reduce variability and run to the best of their abilities.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Execute appropriate maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and control systems.
    • Implement technical solutions based on practical and theoretical knowledge to multi-disciplinary project teams.
    • Participate in upgrading instruments and installing new instrument and control systems for assigned projects.
    • Examine existing instrumentation and control engineering criteria to determine necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated instruments.

    • Use predictive maintenance processes to identify and mitigate risks and avoid backlogs.

    Mine Overseer

    Purpose of Job

    • To supervise all aspects of shift/plant operations to ensure performance targets are achieved in compliance with safety policies.
    • To supervise housekeeping of work area and identify workplace hazards and risks to ensure that mining operations are done in a correct and safe manner.

    Key Accountabilities

    Specialist Artisan Instrument Mechanician

    Purpose of Job

    • An Artisan supports production by providing effective equipment maintenance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, and utilising all available support resources to increase stability and maintain sustainability of the plant.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Execution of tasks associated with maintenance inspections and strategies including alarm and trip testing
    • Calibration and maintenance of instrumentation, including control valves, level, flow, pressure and temperatures
    • Calibrate and replace transmitters
    • Participate in the maintenance of Control Systems, including fault finding/diagnostics, alarm management, basic software engineering & configuration, maintaining plant DCS hardware
    • Maintain ESD systems and function
    • Outline the purpose of cause-and-effect diagrams
    • Conduct inspections on classified equipment and logging of deviations
    • Conduct repairs and replacements on classified equipment
    • An ability to read and interpret instrument loop drawings, control logic diagrams, data sheets and associated technical documents
    • Knowledge of EX and IS standards for hazardous areas
    • Installation, testing and commissioning of instrumentation in accordance with Sasol specifications
    • Proactive identification of instrumentation defects and mal-functioning Implementation of preventative maintenance activities. (Schedule work)
    • Need strong instrumentation and control system skills to do proper fault-finding and preventive maintenance
    • Conduct data extraction and analysis from PLC during fault-finding exercises (fault finding, trends etc.)
    • Understand and use the plant maintenance documentation system
    • Understand planning work management system
    • SAP experience will be an advantage

    Formal Education

    • Grade 12 with Maths, Science & English (must)
    • NQF 4 Occupational Trade Qualification and Red Seal (must)

    Working Experience

    • 4 - 5 Years relevant experience
    • Driver’s license (minimum code 8)
