    Temporary Teacher Assistant - SPARK Ferndale - 2026

    Purpose of Role:

    • SPARK Schools Assistant Teachers are developing educators who co-plan and co-teach lessons under the guidance of a mentor teacher. They support scholar achievement by contributing to a positive classroom environment and practising instructional delivery, while building content knowledge and pedagogical skills aligned to SPARK’s academic and cultural model. 

    Requirements
    Responsibilities:

    Instruction & Curriculum Delivery 

    • Co-plan and co-teach both in-person and distance learning lessons. 
    • Lead and facilitate intervention and acceleration sessions 
    • Plan and teach select lessons for practice and feedback. 
    • Support assessments and grade small tasks or homework. 
    • Facilitate academic, clubs, and enrichment lessons aligned to the curriculum and SPARK’s pedagogical standards. 
    • Participate in place-based education and implement SPARK Schools curriculum enrichment activities. 
    • Teaching through Project Based Learning 
    • Personalising teaching through data driven decisions 
    • Differentiated instruction driven by technology 
    • Facilitate coding and robotics lessons

    Collaboration & Planning 

    • Assist with marking and data tracking of subjects' assessments and exams. 
    • Participate in professional development, mentorship, check-ins and feedback sessions and ongoing instructional coaching. 
    • Teacher admin assistance and support 

    Scholar Progress Monitoring 

    • Track scholar's academic performance and ensure Personalised Learning Plans are on track
    • Submit and analyse scholar data to monitor growth and implement data-driven interventions under the supervision of the mentor teacher 
    • Monitor scholar progress in the Innovation HUB (online program engagement) 
    • Actively assist students on all computer programs and ensure that the educational software used in the lab effectively meets the needs of students. 
    • Communicate and collaborate with teachers and school administrators to create personalised learning plans for students. 
    • Report all damages to hardware to the and fill out relevant incident reports if needed. 
    • Hold individualised intervention sessions for scholars who need extra support in subjects 

    Achievement enrichment school program 

    • Facilitate in supervising scholars during the after school program, ensuring play, and structured activities. 
    • Ensure all after school program resources are used responsibly and effectively. 

    Character Development & Culture Building 

    • Engage with CQ (Character Quotient) sessions and uphold CQ standards. 
    • Uphold and promote SPARK’s behaviour management strategies and cultural values.
    • Promote an inclusive school environment that drive diversity, equity and inclusion
    • Partake in school events and activities that promote CQ and SPARK culture 

    Professionalism & Stakeholder Engagement 

    • Communicate effectively with colleagues, families, and stakeholders. 
    • Maintain professionalism at all SPARK Schools events and engagements. 
    • Attend Saturday school events, parent meetings, and other required activities. 
    • Promote and model SPARK Schools’ vision, mission, and values. 

    Compliance & Safety 

    • Adhere to policies related to crisis management, child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety. 
    • Implement directives from the Crisis Management Team. 
    • Participate fully in operational processes and procedures 
    • Provide support during transitions, lunch, break, and other non-instructional times
    • Provide administrative support for both instructional and operational aspects. 
    • Submit scholar data and records as required. 

    Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

    • English language fluency.
    • Clear criminal record.
    • Grade 12 Certificate.
    • Studying part­-time towards a B.Ed. or PGCE in the Intermediate or Senior Phase (3rd or 4th Year), with a view to becoming a qualified teacher.
    • Student SACE registration

    Experience:

    • Previous experience managing or working with primary school-aged children.
    • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology.

    Primary School Principal - SPARK Rivonia - 2026

    Purpose of Role:

    • The Principal drives student achievement by leading a team of excellent staff to prepare SPARK scholars for university and beyond. The Principal sets a rigorous vision for student achievement and implements strategic steps to lead staff, families, students, and the greater community to fulfill that vision. The Principal collaborates with the Assistant Principal(s) and School Operations Manager to uphold high expectations for school culture, student achievement, and professional development.
    • The Principal drives decision ­making within the SPARK Schools model in terms of the instructional program and school operations to ensure that every SPARK scholar is academically successful and an excellent representative of the SPARK core values. The Principal is integral to the SPARK Schools “culture” and our commitment to rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars.

    Responsibilities:

    • Implement a highly rigorous and engaging instructional program that promotes content mastery, creative problem solving, and character development, which is consistent with SPARK Schools’ mission and vision.
    • Use quantitative (assessment) and qualitative (anecdotal) data to drive decision-­making and instruction at the school.
    • Create and maintain a school culture that values high achievement, strong character, and love for learning.
    • Set ambitious goals, academically and otherwise, and holds staff and students accountable for achieving those results.
    • Manage student behaviour and oversees the implementation of individualised plans for students who repeatedly do not meet SPARK Schools’ behavioural expectations.
    • Promote a culture of self -reflection and continual improvement of effectiveness in staff.
    • Facilitate the professional development of SPARK staff by keeping a consistent weekly observation and coaching cycle and collaborating with SPARK Support staff to provide relevant weekly professional development sessions.

    Primary School Maths Teacher (FP) Temporary - SPARK Alberton - 2026

    Purpose of Role:

    • SPARK Schools Foundation Phase Maths teachers drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour, and academic growth for all students.
    • SPARK Schools Maths teachers are Foundation Phase specialists, who receive on-going professional development customised for their past experience and individual needs.
    • The Foundation Phase Maths Teachers are integral to the SPARK Schools’ “culture” and our commitment to rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars.

    Responsibilities:

    • Plan for and be prepared to deliver lessons to students
    • Provide instruction in a variety of subjects and reach students with engaging lesson plans and resources.
    • Collaborate with grade level and content area partners to develop rigorous, engaging learning experiences and to create individualised behaviour and learning plans for all students in class face to face or online.
    • Lead weekly SEL (Social Emotional Learning) circles and implement SPARK Schools Social Emotional Learning curriculum.
    • Use SPARK culture and implement behaviour management strategies.
    • Administer weekly and termly assessments to track student progress and analyse the data for student growth.
    • SPARK Educators should have a core focus on student achievement and should drive all scholars to meet the required proficiency ratings.

    • SAQA accreditation for non-South African equivalent qualifications
    • English language fluency.
