    CATIR Programme Trainer

    About the Role

    • Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring a Technical Molecular Biology Trainer. Use your technical expertise and scientific training experience to train students on the use and application of molecular scientific instruments across the African continent and contribute to our mission of a healthier, cleaner, and safer world. You'll work with world-class scientific equipment and a diverse, multicultural team to enrich and instill advanced scientific techniques in budding new scientists across Africa.
    • In this role, you will be expected to coordinate, prepare, and deliver scientific and technical training from our training facility located in Pretoria. Work closely with other technical teams inside of Thermo Fisher Scientific and the South African Medical Research Council to ensure long-term success of the Centre for Advanced Training and Innovative Research (CATIR) training centre.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide scientific molecular training on cutting-edge molecular techniques and technologies to a wide audience of students.
    • Collaborate with students to successfully implement and optimize their use of our products.
    • Cover all administrative tasks related to the delivery of a training course like the preparation of the instruments, kits and reagents, course communication and training completion tracking
    • Support the efficient setup, maintenance and improvement of the training premises
    • Support the development of state-of-the-art training approaches by driving continuous process improvement through problem identification and solving
    • Take on additional tasks as required

    Requirements

    • MSc or Higher in a Molecular Biology field or equivalent.
    • Proven experience with qPCR, Sanger Sequencers, Next Generation Sequencing instrumentation (preferably Ion Torrent)
    • Strong scientific knowledge in the fields of Genetics/Microbiology/Infectious and inherited disease.
    • Demonstrated teaching experience of molecular principals/ technologies and methodologies
    • Robust problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
    • Effective time management and ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining operational metrics.
    • Excellent written and spoken communication in English
    • Driven and motivated with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
    • Learning management systems experience beneficial.
    • Experience with e-learning technologies, digital learning concept and instructional design methodologies
    • Ability to adapt and learn new techniques and technologies on the job
    • Flexible, stress-resistant personal style
    • Willingness to travel 20% of time to receive training when required

    BID Account Manager II

    Position Summary:

    Plan performance and sales skills

    • Attain or exceed assigned sales targets and market share goals consistently for the business portfolio
    • Use selling skills to retain current business, expand existing accounts, and acquire new accounts through cold calling
    • Apply data sources for analyzing and developing sales opportunities with the highest value
    • Participate in sales training programs to develop appropriate selling skills

    Account management

    • Call on all levels and functional areas within assigned accounts which influence purchasing decisions

    Technical comprehension

    • Provide product and other relevant information to customers via daily phone contact and personal visits to generate incremental sales
    • Apply a strong understanding of product features and applications to engage in successful consultative sales discussions and presentations
    • Apply knowledge of existing and new customers and competitor dynamics
    • Provide product demonstrations as needed

    Time management

    • Field travel is key (approx. 4 days per week)
    • Meet or exceed set guidelines for the encouraged number of sales calls to be conducted per week

    Other Job Requirements:

    • Applicants must be proficient in English
    • Valid, lawful driving license
    • Must have a valid passport
    • Need to travel locally in the region as well as internationally (annually)
    • Must be a South African citizen

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Requires at least a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field; BSc Honours degree / equivalent experience preferred

    Minimum Experience Level:

    • At least 1-3 years of relevant work history (preference for laboratory and sales experience)
    • Profound understanding of Molecular Biology, Protein and Cell Biology, and Sample Prep is imperative.
    • Previous background in Life Sciences consumables sales is favored.
    • Experience with customer contact, instructing, or public speaking
    • Familiarity with accounts in the area is an advantage
    • Proficient with computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, or similar programs

    • We seek a dedicated pharmacist with expertise in packaging and labelling to take on the responsibilities of Label Line Lead and Deputy Responsible Pharmacist. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring accurate labelling and compliance with cGMP standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Providing credible pharmaceutical services for the operations management following Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines.
    • Demonstrates and promotes the company’s vision of the 4I’s part of company's goals and objectives.
    • Assume the role of an RP when needed, guaranteeing consistent oversight and adherence to SAHPRA, SAPC, DoH regulations, and internal SOPs. Work closely with the RP to uphold complete compliance throughout all pharmaceutical operations.
    • Collaborate with the RP and Quality team to actively address and solve quality-related matters, including issues stemming from customer complaints, client worries, and internal incidents.
    • Conduct all pharmaceutical clinical trial activities safely and efficiently while ensuring compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations.
    • Maintain pharmacy plans, SOPs, and relevant documentation as per requirements of regulatory bodies.
    • Conduct internal audits and ensure findings are addressed and closed timely.
    • Initiate, investigate, and close off CAPAs and Non-Conformances.
    • Ensure that environmental conditions, temperature, and humidity are continuously monitored and controlled.

    Title Line Team Leader Duties:

    • Coordinate the labelling process to guarantee accuracy and alignment with regulatory standards.
    • Lead and perform line openings, changeovers, and line closures, ensuring all procedures are accurately followed.
    • Prepare and lead production schedules for labelling operations.
    • Ensures timely completion of labelling and packaging tasks by label associates.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of all labelling activities and timely submission of records with all supporting documentation upon batch completion.
    • Conduct in-process checks and visual inspections to ensure labelling quality, while promptly identifying and resolving any issues related to labelling operations.
    • Train and develop staff on SOPs and labelling procedures.
