What you’ll be doing:

• Assist with the day-to-day supervision of branch operations, ensuring smooth workflow and compliance with company policies.
• Support the Branch Manager in financial controls, including monitoring sales, expenses, and budgets.
• Participate in stock management, including receiving, merchandising, stock level monitoring, ordering, claims, and stock taking.
• Provide input in personnel supervision, including shift planning, coaching, and assisting with staff development.
• Maintain high standards of customer service, addressing queries and resolving complaints timeously.
• Assist in ensuring the branch complies with legislative and safety requirements.
• Contribute towards marketing and promotions to drive sales growth and branch visibility.
• Step in to act on behalf of the Branch Manager when required.

What we’re looking for:

• Matric / NQF4 a tertiary qualification will make you stand out
• 2–3 years’ experience in agricultural retail
• Computer savvy (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Willingness to learn, grow, and sometimes work after hours

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Performs varied tasks relating to Quality control at Simba processing. Ensure that safety compliance and standards are always maintained.

REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 or NQF 4.
• Certificate in grain grading and grain fumigation would serve as advantage
• Valid driver's license for tractor / Front-end Loader would serve as an advantage
• Must be willing to work overtime and shifts
• Clear Criminal Record
• Experience in a similar enviroment will be advantageous

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor flow of grain continuously
• Quality Control during storage and processing of products
• Responsible for the correct stacking of Simba maize and maintaining stack cards
• Continuous grain protection through fumigation as determined by supervisor
• Monitor of grain tube temperature and report deviation to superior
• Measure grain tubes according to policy and safety regulations
• Assist with monthly food safety inspections as needed
• Operate silo according to the VKB Group policy and regulations
• Provide general assistance and AD-Hoc tasks as required
• Ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Any general work as requested by management.

Job Purpose

• The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel vehicles and equipment in line with standard operating procedures and SHEQ requirements. The role requires an experienced, trade-tested individual who can work independently, respond to breakdowns, and support workshop operations across vehicles and earthmoving machinery.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
• QCTO Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Trade Tested).
• Minimum 5 years’ post–trade test experience as a Diesel Technician.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence (Code EC preferred).
• Experience working on earthmoving and material-handling equipment.
• Physically fit, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure without supervision.
• Willing to work long hours, weekends, and overtime for breakdowns on a 24-hour shift basis.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and SHEQ standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Attend and/or lead daily planning meetings and respond to maintenance requests and breakdowns.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and drivetrain faults.
• Perform routine, preventative, and breakdown maintenance according to SOPs.
• Replace or repair components using new or reconditioned parts and retest equipment.
• Identify wear patterns, conduct root cause analysis, and make maintenance recommendations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, timesheets, and ISO checklists.
• Order required spare parts and manage job hour utilisation.
• Ensure all work complies with SHEQ and safety standards.
• Maintain clean, organised, and safe work areas, tools, and PPE.
• Mentor mechanical assistants and support apprentice training.
• Perform general workshop and site housekeeping and other ad hoc duties as required.
