    Creative: Design and Campaign

    PRIMARY PURPOSE

    • Wilderness is looking for a talented Creative: Design and Campaign to join our ever-growing creative team. You’re a highly motivated creative thinker committed to developing inspiring work and who has a genuine interest in bringing our brand stories to life. You’ll need the ability to mix commercial driven thinking with craft and creative flair. We want a new team player to join our business on the back of an exciting brand refresh launched in November 2022.
    • In this role you will be tasked with creating engaging sales focused concepts and design through inspiring creative campaigns with a keen eye on storytelling. You have a desire to explore new ways to engage with our audiences and have a deep passion for combining creativity with interest and insights. You thrive on collaboration and will work across our four marketing departments: Creative; Consumer & Digital; Trade & Partnerships, and PR & Comms.
    • In addition to conceptualising sales driven campaigns, crafting design for digital content, print media, and marketing for a wide variety of users and user needs, you will be responsible for brainstorming creative concepts; developing original campaign and design solutions, helping define how we creatively talk about our offering and initiatives in the world of travel and luxury.
    • We’re looking for a fresh creative thinker who is excited about both offline and online experiences, and who understands how to use both traditional and digital platforms to hit campaign and business objectives.

    Detailed Responsibilities

    • Develop inspiring and engaging campaigns and design across various print briefs.
    • Support your team and stakeholders through collaboration.
    • Campaign thinking and storytelling through design and marketing campaigns.
    • Design & Art Direct across various marketing channels to ensure adherence to brand standards and design guidelines.
    • Drive brand consistency across all company communications.
    • Collaborate with senior internal stakeholders where required.

    CANDIDATE PROFILE
    Qualification:

    • Degree level qualification from an Advertising Art/Design college/varsity

    Experience:                    

    • 3 - 5 years’ experience in advertising and design.
    • Good knowledge of the print and production process.
    • A passion for digital experience design and digital channels.
    • Exposure to a range of different marketing channels, both offline and online

    Skills:           

    • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills necessary to present your solutions and to build trust and respect with the team.
    • Maturity and confidence to work with an array of stakeholders
    • Excellent eye for detail and ambition for always focusing on quality of your work.
    • Proven ability to demonstrate brand voice and adherence to guidelines.
    • Conceptual and innovative thinking.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Ability to nurture and grow the team's skill set and inspire talent to join and grow with the company.
    • A passion for current (digital, social media and print) trends coupled with a deep understanding of the full guest/consumer experience.
    • Open to feedback with confidence required to know how and when to defend design choices.
    • Demonstrate ability to work independently when necessary and meet deadlines.

    Senior Travel Designer

    About the Role

    • As a Senior Travel Designer, you’ll deliver exceptional, personalised travel experiences for our guests and agents. You’ll combine deep product knowledge with high-touch service, fast response times, and a consultative approach. Your mission: build strong relationships, curate bespoke itineraries, and drive sales while maintaining healthy margins.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Service Excellence: Deliver prompt, professional, and solution-oriented service to agents and guests. Communicate proactively and with clarity.
    • Itinerary Design & Upselling: Curate bespoke journeys reflecting guest preferences and Wilderness standards. Identify upselling opportunities to enhance guest experiences.
    • Agent Relationship Management: Build trust-based relationships, understand agent preferences, and collaborate with Sales and Operations teams.
    • Booking Accuracy: Quote accurately and timeously, maintain meticulous booking files, and ensure seamless execution of itineraries.
    • Operational Coordination: Work closely with Operations Specialists to ensure a high-quality guest experience and manage all booking logistics.
    • Performance & Margin Focus: Optimise bed nights and margins, track financial performance, and ensure revenues are secured.
    • Product Knowledge: Stay current on Wilderness camps and experiences across Southern & East Africa, and confidently position our offerings.
    • Systems & Technology: Use industry systems (Wilderness Window, WETU, Smartbox, Tourplan, etc.) to streamline processes and enhance service delivery.

    Candidate Profile

    • Qualifications: Matric with Maths (Standard Grade or higher); tertiary qualification in Travel & Tourism or Hospitality.
    • Experience: 4–5 years in a senior travel design or reservations role; proven experience in itinerary planning, customer service, and sales; familiarity with TourPlan and Microsoft Office.
    • Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication (English required, European languages advantageous), organisational skills, and ability to upsell and personalise travel experiences.
    • Personal Attributes: Creative, proactive, service-driven, passionate about wildlife and conservation, able to work under pressure, and dedicated to customer satisfaction.

    Senior Groups & Incentives Travel Designer

    About the Role

    • As a Senior Groups & Incentives Travel Designer, you will play a key role in designing, coordinating, and delivering high-end MICE, incentive, and specialist group travel within the Wilderness portfolio. You will work closely with trade partners, DMCs, and internal sales and operations teams to create seamless, bespoke group journeys that align with Wilderness’ luxury standards, conservation ethos, and commercial objectives.
    • This role requires a consultative mindset, strong logistical capability, and the ability to manage complex group movements while maintaining exceptional service levels and margin integrity.

    MICE & Group Travel Design

    • Design and deliver bespoke group, incentive, and MICE itineraries, tailored to client objectives, budgets, and guest profiles.
    • Translate client briefs into creative, well-structured programs that showcase Wilderness camps, experiences, and conservation initiatives.
    • Identify and implement value-adds and upselling opportunities that enhance group experiences while protecting margins.

    Service Excellence & Stakeholder Management

    • Provide prompt, professional, and solutions-driven service to trade partners, incentive houses, and internal stakeholders.
    • Communicate clearly and proactively, managing expectations across multiple touchpoints.
    • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key agents and MICE partners.

    Operational & Logistical Coordination

    • Manage complex group logistics including rooming lists, movements, activities, and special requirements.
    • Collaborate closely with Operations Specialists to ensure flawless on-the-ground execution.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed booking files to ensure seamless delivery from confirmation through travel.

    Commercial & Performance Focus

    • Quote accurately and timeously, ensuring pricing integrity and commercial viability.
    • Monitor margins and performance metrics, contributing to overall departmental targets.
    • Support Sales and Reservations leadership with insights into group trends and opportunities.

    Product & Systems Expertise

    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Wilderness camps, regions, and experiences across Southern and East Africa.
    • Confidently position the Wilderness brand within the MICE and incentives space.
    • Leverage systems such as Wilderness Window, WETU, Smartbox, Tourplan, and Microsoft Office to streamline workflows and enhance service delivery.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Matric with Mathematics (Standard Grade or higher).
    • Tertiary qualification in Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, or a related field (advantageous).
    • 6–10 years’ experience in a senior Groups, Incentives, or MICE travel design / reservation’s role.
    • Proven experience managing group logistics, complex itineraries, and high-value clients.
    • Strong working knowledge of Tourplan and Microsoft Office.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English essential; European languages advantageous).
    • Confident in consultative selling, personalisation, and upselling within a luxury context.
    • Ability to manage pressure, deadlines, and multiple group files simultaneously.
