    Manager, Operations, Road Logistics (Collections) - Kempton Park

    Main Purpose of the Role

    The Ops Manager - Collections is responsible for all collection planning, resources and debriefing of drivers

    Basic Minimum Requirements for this role

    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • Degree in Logistics or related
    • Proven 5 years experience in operations management within the logistics / courier industry
    • Minimum of 3 years experience managing people / teams in a fast paced environment
    • Own transport essential
    • Willing to work overtime as and when required

    Skills and Competencies

    • Computer Literate in MS Office packages
    • Self Motivated, Self driven, goal orientated
    • High attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
    • Pay high attentional to detail

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure all collections are efficiently actioned
    • Ensure all collections are planned accordingly
    • Ensure equipment on BluJay is updated regularly and is up to date
    • Ensure all collections in Status 230 and lower are actioned
    • Ensure collection target of no more than 30 missed collections is achieved
    • Ensure all trips are closed off and debriefed
    • Ensure the debriefing process is followed correctly - Trip Dock, Unload, Finalize, Debrief
    • All unhandled units to be actioned daily
    • Ensure the department is always QSHE compliant
    • Manage staff (attendance, KPI's, performance )
    • Daily cost control (overtime etc)
    • Compile daily report on missed collections with detailed explanation and send to management

    Supervisor, Operations, Solutions

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE :

    This position aims to ensure contract adherence in terms of client relations, operational performance, commercial and financial performance, people management and development and continual improvement initiatives. Supervising a team of 45 to 60 employees.

    The role needs to ensure operations are managed in accordance with the DSV standards and policies and procedures. Ensure that the DSV strategy, goals and initiatives are cascaded down through the organization into the various areas of the operation.

    Support and actively participate in development services and solutions to complement DSV’s offering to the Automotive industry.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    A.MAINTAIN COMMUNICATIONS: To enhance a 2-way communication process within the team. 

    • Communicate information obtained from the Operations Manager.
    • Keep Operations Manager informed on problems or concerns 
    • Communicate the goals/objectives to the team members 
    • Communicate defects to other teams/sections (feedback on quality, 
    •  safety, etc.) 
    • Maintain high morale through continuous communications 
    • Solicit input from team members 
    • Maintain high morale and team spirit through continuous coaching 

    SUGGESTIONS: Encourage and solicit suggestions that the team members can do on their own. 

    • Encourage team members to submit improvement proposals 
    • TRAINING: To enable personal growth by organizing training for all team members. 
    • Master all jobs in the team to relieve, train and assist the team members using the JIT method 
    • Train the team members to become multi-skilled workers according to the flexibility chart 
    • Record and maintain the flexibility chart of the team 
    • Give job instruction training to all newcomers in the team

    ATTENDANCE: To create an environment where attendance is seen as essential for the team performance. 

    • Cover all absenteeism whenever needed in team.
    • Inform Operations Manager if absentee coverage cannot be resolved within the team 
    • Motivate team members for attendance 

    E. PERFORMANCE SUPPORT: To create a positive and constructive climate by coaching and supporting the team members. 

    • Monitor performance of team members, coach/retrain where necessary 
    • Assist in eliminating problem operations and bottlenecks 
    • Be aware of health conditions of team members 
    • Give positive feedback on performance issues to team members 
    • Give input to the Branch Manager with regard to performance evaluations

    TEAM MEETINGS: To enhance a 2-way communication process within the team. 

    • Prepare the agenda of the meeting and solicit input from Operations Manager and team members 
    • Conduct the meeting 
    • Inform the Operations Manager about the outcome of the meeting 
    • Follow-up on items discussed during the meeting 

    JOB ROTATION: To create flexibility and personal growth by organizing job rotation. 

    • Ensure that the job rotation amongst team members balances ergonomically challenging jobs with those that are physically less 
    • Train team members in order to gain flexibility for job rotation 
    • Maintain a record of rotation

    Quality Assurance Specialist, Solutions - Pretoria

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

    The successful incumbent will be responsible for the implementation, support, monitoring, and control of the adopted quality management system related to client and DSV requirements.The incumbent will be accountable to ensure compliance throughout  the supply chain in respect of formally agreed quality and service level agreements.

    The Quality assurance specialist is responsible for implementing the ISO (International Organization for standardization) standards to enable DSV establish, maintain and continually improve its quality management system.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    ISO compliance

    • Ensure that DSV adheres to the ISO 9001,14001 and 45001

    Policy and Procedures

    • Ensure that DSV complies with current Quality,Safety,Health and Environmental (QSHE) policy
    • Ensure compliance to QSHE standard operating procedure as well as statutory guidance documents

    Documentation and Processes

    • Develop and document processes and procedures that align with ISO standards, facilitate consistency and compliance
    • across the organization

    Auditing

    • Active participation in audits whether internal,client, and statutory or other
    • Implement corrective actions for identified non-conformities and establish preventative measures to prevent reoccurence

    Continuous Improvement

    • Drive initiatives for continuous improvement relating to audit findings
    • Active participation in non-conformance closure through appropriate implementation of remedial action to ensure robustness of adopted QMS
    • Proactive engagement within operational undertakings to ensure prompt escalation to management in the event of system failure/ operational weakness or mandatory enhancements

    Training and Awareness

    • Provide training to employees to enhance awareness of ISO standards and ensure that the is understanding of how compliance should be maintained

    Risk Management

    • Assess risks related to non-compliance with ISO standards and implement mitigating measures in Intergration with OHS and Environmental Standards (Integrated Management System)

    Certification

    • Prepare DSV for external audits certification by ensuring that the ISO standards are met and documented

    Communication

    • Act as a liaison between DSV and certification bodies, facilitate effective communication in all audits
    • Benchmarking and Best Practices
    • Stay informed of ISO standards and best practices,ensuring that DSV remains at the forefront of quality management

    Qualification(s):

    • Post Graduate Quality Qualification or
    • Industrial Engineering

    Computer Skills:

    • MS Office (Intermediate)
    • Relevant related non-confomrance software
    • Proficient in Excel for data management and reporting (intermediate to advanced)
