    3 Phase Electrician, Helderberg

    Salary: R27 000 per month

    • We are seeking a 3 Phase Electrician for a permanent vacancy based in Helderberg, Western Cape

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

    • Qualified electrician with relevant experience and ideally have a wiremans license.
    • Must specialize in working with three-phase electrical systems, which are the power distribution setups typically used in industrial, commercial, and large-scale settings (as opposed to the single-phase power found in most homes)
    • Background - Three-phase electricity uses three alternating currents that are offset from each other, delivering power more efficiently and smoothly than single-phase. It's the standard for running heavy machinery and large electrical loads because it provides more consistent, higher-capacity power with less energy loss.
    • Key difference from a general/residential electrician:
    • It requires additional training beyond standard electrician certification, since three-phase systems involve higher voltages, more complex wiring configurations, and greater risk if handled incorrectly. Many electricians get standard certification first, then pursue specialized training or endorsements in three-phase/industrial work.

The successful applicant would be responsible for, but not limited to:

    • Installation — Wiring and setting up three-phase systems in factories, warehouses, commercial buildings, and industrial plants, including transformers, distribution boards, and switchgear
    • Motor and machinery work — Installing and maintaining three-phase motors, which power much of industrial equipment (pumps, compressors, conveyors, HVAC systems, elevators)
    • Maintenance and troubleshooting — Diagnosing faults like phase imbalance, voltage drops, or motor failures, and performing routine maintenance to keep systems running safely and efficiently
    • Panel and switchboard work — Installing and servicing distribution boards, circuit breakers, and control panels rated for three-phase loads
    • Compliance and safety — Ensuring installations meet relevant electrical codes and safety standards, since three-phase systems carry higher voltages and require specialized safety protocols
    • Upgrades — Sometimes converting single-phase supply to three-phase (or vice versa) for businesses that need higher power capacity
