    Operations Assistant - eMalahleni

    Job Description    

    • To assist the MMU Controller in managing and operating all aspects of a mobile manufacturing unit (MMU – BLEND truck) in order to meet the customer requirements with the standards and procedures as defined by AECI (OTIF).
    • To Assist the MMU Controller in the carrying out of regular inspections in  terms of SABS and World Class on  fixed plant and MMUs to identify non-conformances and institute preventative measures as well as to achieve continuous improvement.
    • Assist in all blasting related functions required (for example, measuring holes, closing or stemming of charged holes, guarding, cleaning etc.)
    • Housekeeping at Site
    • Cleanliness of wash bay and truck park
    • Cleanliness of trucks
    • Loading and unloading of products into trucks
    • Assist in charging up duties on the bench
    • Assist in closing or stemming of charged holes.
    • Loading and unloading of packaged explosives and accessories
    • To observe all legal requirements while at the depot
    • To ensure MMU’s are always kept clean according to the World Class Standards
    • Ability to work independently.
    • All blasting related functions as required

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Grade 12
    • Code B driver’s licence
    • Safe working practices
    • Product knowledge would be an advantage
    • Hazardous product handling would be an advantage
    • Must be able to obtain a red ticket health clearance

    MMU Operator - eMalahleni

    Job Description    

    • Managing and operating all aspects of a mobile manufacturing unit (MMU) in order to meet the customer requirements with the standards and procedures as defined by AECI
    • Carry out regular inspections in terms of SABS and World Class on fixed plant and MMU to identify non-conformances and institute preventative measures as well as to achieve continuous improvement.
    • Assist in eliminating all sources of waste and controlling of operating costs to within the budgeted parameters.
    • Assist in ensuring that the region delivers on financial requirements as agreed within the annual budget.
    • Assist in closing or stemming of charged holes.
    • Complete minor maintenance on MMU when required.
    • Ensure Quality products are supplied.
    • To maintain vehicle records in the MMU’s.
    • To ensure MMU’s are submitted for services according to maintenance schedules.
    • To ensure monthly maintenance is carried out according to World Class standard.
    • To ensure MMU is kept clean at all times.
    • To assist FSS in ensuring MMU licensing and roadworthiness are always up to date.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent.
    • Valid Code EC Drivers Licence is essential
    • The applicants must be able to obtain a Red Ticket and a PrDP.
    • Mechanical aptitude.
    • Must be able to pass psychomotor assessment.

    Fitter Assistant - Umbogintwini

    Job Description    

    • Is required to provide assistance to each mechanical fitter, when carrying out scheduled routine maintenance.
    • Assist the mechanical fitter to conduct remedial repairs & attending to breakdowns within the Umbogintwini Industrial Complex.
    • Assist the mechanical fitter, to strip pumps in the Utilities Workshop under the guidance of the trained mechanical fitter.
    • Assist the mechanical fitter with repairs to isolation valves, and rotating equipment.
    • Working with the fitter on scheduled maintenance at sewage pump stations.
    • Assist the mechanical fitters with steam trap inspections and replacement.
    • Assist the mechanical fitter to complete works orders and scheduled daily SHE tasks from plant to plant within the Umbogintwini Industrial Complex.
    • Perform standby call-out duties, whenever assigned to a fitter that is on standby.
    • Attend various training courses such as hole watching, first aid, basic firefighting, SHE rep, etc.
    • To keep work place clean, tidy at all times, which is in the plant area, workshops, oil stores etc.
    • Clearing all scrap material after work being complete and discard in the recycle bins provided in work area.
    • Observe and report unsafe conditions to the Operator, Artisan and Supervisor.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Grade 12
    • Knowledge and experience of having worked on pumps, rotating equipment and isolation valves is beneficial.
    • Studying towards obtaining NQF Level 1 is also beneficial
    • Ability to work standby and overtime as and when required

    Production Supervisor

    Job Description    

    • Identify non-conformances and take corrective actions
    • Monitor and control manufacturing resources (plant, labour, overtime, etc.)
    • Maintain manufacturing records for plant and equipment
    • Offload raw material tankers into storage tanks (additives)
    • Check raw material receiving documentation and forward to Laboratory
    • Conduct raw material and finished product stock takes (dips)
    • Maintain housekeeping standards in the plant
    • Check vehicle tanks as per flushing matrix to prevent product contamination
    • Load hauler and distributor trucks (product, quantity, etc.) as per loading instructions
    • Supervise work unit to achieve work unit objectives

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • Relevant National Diploma – Civil Engineering or similar
    • At least 2 years supervisory / team leader experience
    • At least 5 years relevant industry experience (rubber / bitumen / asphalt)
    • Forklift license (Advantage)
    • Computer literate

    Engineering Foreman - Umbogintwini

    Job Description    

    • To provide plant and equipment capability, reliability and availability to the Plant and Operation through the application of maintenance.
    • To minimize plant downtime through effective maintenance planning, preventative and predictive maintenance.
    • To manage the use of materials, care for the equipment and plant to minimize wastage.
    • Ensure all maintenance work is carried out to quality and to meet specification requirements.
    • The Engineering Supervisor will assume the legal responsibility of the GMR 2(1) which involves ensuring that driven machinery onsite are properly maintained and operate safely.
    • The Engineering Supervisor will be responsible assisting and leading the Mechanical Artisan, Boilermaker, Welder and contractors in plant and process maintenance and small projects.
    • Ensure all spare parts availability and control thereof.
    • Assist as required with hands on plant maintenance duties.
    • Required to do standby and call out duties on a regular basis.
    • The Maintenance Supervisor will administer his annual department maintenance budgets and ensure that they are in line with the budget plan.
    • Carry out document management retention and completion activities as scheduled and in a timely manner in accordance with planned maintenance programmes, statutory requirements and company procedures. 

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric/Grade 12
    • A completed apprenticeship as an Electrician or Millwright.
    • Significant mechanical, electrical, instrumentation experience.
    • 5 years of Chemical Plant (preferred) maintenance experience.
    • Prior supervisory experience would be an advantage.
    • Good knowledge of the OHS Act as well as the responsibilities that go with assuming the GMR 2(1) role.
    • Proficiency in MS Office programmes.
    • Experience in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS)
    • Good communication and management skills and a team player.

    Leading Hand - Somerset West

    Job Description    

    Receiving, Storage & Issue of Raw Materials Associated with the relevant Plant:

    • Responsible for making of job cards.
    • Check that the correct raw materials are received as per relevant job cards
    • Co-ordinate other relevant parties, i.e. raw materials, planning, etc. in order to expedite production of product batches.

    Plant duties:

    • Ensure production vessels and pipes are drained/cleaned prior to manufacturing i.e. avoid cross contamination of products.
    • Ensure manufacturing instructions (SOP’s) are followed.
    • Follow laid down operating Works Instructions for operation of plant equipment e.g. mixing vessels, pump, stirrers, mills, etc.
    • Complete appropriate log sheets where/when applicable.
    • Responsible for ensuring that product samples as per sampling instructions are taken.
    • Required to drive a forklift and maintain medical fitness to drive a forklift in order to successfully renew the forklift driver’s license annually. Must be in possession of a valid forklift driver’s license.
    • Responsible for meeting production/packaging quality standards as specified
    • Complete relevant quality control schedules
    • Report quality control problems to Production Team Leader.
    • Ensure housekeeping standards on plant and relevant area
    • Required to work in other work areas other than the incumbent’s normal work area as directed by the Production Team Leader
    • When production demand drops required to carry out other ad hoc tasks as directed by Management.
    • Required to assist with stocktakes
    • Assist Management with problem solving tasks
    • Report all non-conformance issues e.g. spillage of product etc to Management
    • Required to sign all relevant areas on job cards pertaining to the incumbent’s level of authority, e.g. raw material receipts, “made by”, etc.
    • Required to go for retraining on all relevant plant works instructions, SOP’s for the areas under the incumbent’s control – frequency to complete the retraining is every 2 years.
    • Required to assist with conducting Planned Job Observations on all the Works instructions and SOP’s on other areas not under the incumbent’s control

    Maintenance:

    • Ensure that machinery/equipment under the incumbent’s responsibility is kept in good and safe working condition.
    • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance costs on the plants under the incumbent’s areas of responsibility are kept to a minimum.
    • Report all equipment breakdowns to the Production Team Leader after submitting maintenance job card to the Maintenance Dept.
    • Supervise maintenance contractors ensuring that maintenance jobs are effectively completed.
    • Minimise downtime by reporting breakdowns and ensuring repairs are carried out timeously.
    • Co-ordinate preventative maintenance systems for equipment under the incumbent’s control.
    • Responsible for day to day maintenance of the plant/equipment under the incumbent’s control.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Minimum education required: Grade 12/Standard 10
    • Diploma or certificate in chemical plant operations related courses advantageous
    • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in similar production environment
    • Must be able to drive a forklift and be in possession of a valid forklift driver’s license and have passed the drivers medical
    • Experience working in a leadership role
    • Must possess basic computer literacy
    • Ability to work alone as well as within a team
