    Technical Specialist, Mainframe DB2 DBA

    Job Description

    • Perform deploy and operate work that pertains to Mainframe DB2 database administrators. The installation, maintenance and performance management of the Mainframe DB2  related vendor products.  Support application teams.  Support other infrastructure teams i.e. (z/OS ; Capacity Management; Storage; CICS and different application teams  running on Mainframe DB2).  Provide guidance as required to the architecture and design teams re: Database Design and Performance monitoring and tuning. Perform deployment work for projects on demand and in accordance with project schedules.

    With respect to Mainframe DB2 Applications -  

    • Upgrades and fixes in accordance with related deployment and release schedules.
    • Assisting in tool upgrades and fixes
    • Ensure systems perform optimally by monitoring performance and make  recommendations to the various teams.  
    • Perform DR exercises as directed by the BCM regime.  Resolve incidents and problems and escalate 3rd level support requirements to 3rd party support contractor(s) and coordinate support provision. Service restore shall satisfy service level agreements.  Maintain run books for Mainframe DB2 operations utilising deployment- and maintenance guides directives originating from Products & Services.  Interact with Applications teams/Architecture to optimise and maintain Mainframe DB2 infrastructure and operations service levels at a level that fully endorse GTI’s service level agreements with its customers.  Support Operational Controls processes (Audits, Risk and DR& BCM governance, business processes improvements, performance management, and finance and business management), supply requested information and implement corrective actions as applicable. Perform standby and call out duties as required.
