    Field Guide

    Job Advert Summary    

    • We are looking to appoint a dedicated and committed Field Guide/Trails Guide. An opportunity to work in a prestige Game Reserve in the Great Karoo. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow and gain experience as a guide, the role will not only be guiding and interpretation, but the successful candidate will also be expected to be involved with reserve work and assist with research in the conservation field

    Minimum Requirements    

    • FGASA NQF2/4 Theory
    • Practical assessment complete.
    • SAPS Competency certificate.
    • Valid NDT registration.
    • Valid PrDP license.
    • Valid First Aid certificate.
    • Previous experience as a Field Guide or in similar conservation research/qualification.
    • Computer literacy skills including Excel, Word, Power point. Mapping programme an advantage.
    • Fluent in English and Afrikaans spoken and written.
    • Positive, passionate attitude and sense of responsibility
    • 4x4 and off-road driving experience.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.

    Head Guide

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Manage the Qwabi Game Reserve Field Guide Team in its entirety; and see to the implementation and management of all aspects regarding the reserve’s operations, in order to provide a holistic and memorable and authentic safari experience. Responsible for giving private guided tours.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • FGASA Professional Field Guide (NQF Level 3 or higher)
    • Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH)
    • Trails Guide Training (VPDA)
    • Valid First Aid (Level 2 minimum)

    • Minimum 5 years’ guiding experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Manage the performance of the guiding department
    • Maintain and manage the integrity of the guiding department
