    Principal Mining Engineer - Ops Excellence

    Job Description:

    As Principal Mining Engineer - Ops Excellence you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Ensuring that safety, health and environmental aspects and considerations are incorporated in the designs and project work conducted.
    • Maintaining a strategy for mining processes, develop procedures and processes to implement the operational strategy and ensure operations are optimized through the strategy.
    • Governance functions to ensure mine planning standards are developed, communicated, and adhered to and facilitated performance regarding requirements.
    • Governance functions to ensure adherence to reporting standards and facilitate performance regarding requirements.
    • Assisting with external stakeholder requests where appropriate to ensure the smooth and efficient running of survey processes to address and resolve issues promptly.
    • Effectively share knowledge to support operational best practice.
    • Ensuring alignment between projects and business optimization initiatives and the Kumba RDP (Resource Development Plans) and LOM (Life of Mine) plans.
    • Supporting the implementation of projects within defined timescales and budgets to assure accuracy of cash flow forecast.
    • This role is in the Mining (MIN) discipline at a Band 5 level reporting to Manager Mining.

    Qualifications:

    • BEng Mining Engineering/Mining
    • MBA / MBL in Business Management / Administration
    • Mine manager’s certificate of competency (MMCC)
    • Professional registration with ECSA
    • Mine Planning related software such as Whittle, Deswik, XPAC, OPMS, XERAS, MicroStation, Haulsim
    • SA Drivers License

    Experience

    • Strong experience conducting open-pit mining studies and projects (concept phase to implementation)
    • Mining Engineering open-pit experience at management level – operational and technical
    • Management experience at MTS Manger, Manager Mining level will be advantageous
    • A positive record of delivering quality mine planning and mining engineering outputs on projects
    • AA (Anglo American) Organization Model concepts and principles

    Specialist: Adv Process Control Systems

    Job Description:

    • Provides consistent outstanding behaviour in relation to safety practices with a deep understanding of the importance of safety.
    • Visibly demonstrate SHE values and principles.
    • Contribute towards the vision and strategy for a Group-wide Advanced Process Control System approach and control framework.
    • Advise on the selection and use of specialist Advanced Process Control System technology (Advanced Process Control Technical/ Dynamic Process Control Simulation technology, Regulatory and other Control Systems) for site the commissioning and use thereof.
    • Utilise specialist vendor systems knowledge to manage vendor installation teams to effectively deliver on projects.
    • Increase “the value in use” of Advanced Process Control Systems technologies by replicating best practise across the Group.

    Qualifications:

    • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline.
    • Desirable: A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • Track record of leading translating ideas into practical initiatives to be implemented and a demonstration of successful execution and delivery of Advanced Process Control System.
    • Knowledge of Control System application as well as Data Analytics and sensor application.
    • Implement the most effective solutions to drive efficiencies.
    • Solve technical and operational issues in cooperation with relevant stakeholders.
    • Devise solutions to optimise productivity and quality targets by utilising technical expertise and cooperating with multi-disciplinary teams to highlight and address areas of improvement.
    • Implement set project activities within a specific project or operation. Proactively escalate risks and propose mitigating actions.
    • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of change concepts.  Coach and support managers to initiate, implement and drive change across a discipline/business unit.  Act as a change agent and champion – developing tools and methodologies as well as initiating and leading change.

    IM Regional Manager (Platinum)

    Job Description:

    We are seeking a Regional IM Manager who will lead as the interface with assigned business units for the purpose of business/ IM strategy development, solution development, service delivery and management, risk management and relationship management.

    Qualifications:

    Inclusive Procurement Advisor

    Purpose

    Implement select priority areas that will support achievement of regional Inclusive Procurement strategic ambitions.

    Key Tasks

    Safety, Health & Environment 

    • Identify ways to support specific safety, health & sustainability opportunities and risks and ensure transactional purchasing activities complies with all Safety, Health & Environmental requirements. 
    • Implement safe Inclusive Procurement activities, performing regular risk assessments, monitoring safety performance, and addressing any risks/issues immediately.
    • Comply with relevant policies and standards and particularly the Contractor Performance Management policy & procedures to enable achievement of gold-standard contractor safety performance.

    Performance & Delivery

    General

    • Implement Inclusive Procurement activities that supports the overall Supply Chain business strategy, particularly pertaining to creative partnering and robust supplier development.
    • Embrace an agile Supply Chain by being adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities. 

    Community Strategy & Programme Management

    • Practical support and change management at BU level, with a specific focus on supporting Host Community suppliers and other SMME's/new entrants.

    • Support the implementation and progress monitoring of the strategic programmes.

    • Provide area-specific input to the overall Inclusive Procurement scorecard and targets and support the tracking of performance against these at BU level.
    • Support the development of a future demand pipeline that will guide supplier development, initiatives, performance etc.

    Commercial Value Delivery & Supplier Development

    • Support asset-based Implementation of IP initiatives in agreements by providing guidance to BU asset-based teams.
    • Provide input to category portfolio and value delivery planning, support category IP strategy and sourcing plan development, commercial & initiative plans and agreements to ensure formal commitment are embedded.
    • Support the implementation of new ways-of-working related to IP at BU asset level.

    Partnerships & Suppliers

    • Support management the implementation of IP initiatives across the BU, raise any issues to commercial teams and provide progress feedback.
    • Effect continuous growth in number of suitable IP suppliers (HC or otherwise) within relevant areas to support HC development and ensure access to opportunities.
    • Support compilation and implementation of BU IP pipelines.

    Compliance with Regulatory and Legislative Frameworks

    • Support and coach BU and asset-based teams on regulatory requirements as well as the AA position on these.
    • Support on-site BP team in preparing for external audit processes.

    Sustainability & Social

    • Support the implementation of Anglo American social & sustainability strategies and initiatives that relate to Inclusive Procurement and how these contribute to the sustainable mine plans Support the implementation of Anglo American’s policy and standards on Communities and Inclusive Procurement, reflecting our sustainability, inclusion & diversity ambitions as well as any other national imperatives.
    • Support engagement of host community suppliers & business forums, relevant local governmental bodies.

    People & Teams  

    • ​Support efforts to create awareness, capability building and excellence pertaining to Inclusive Procurement partnering and supplier development, with asset-based teams.
    • Foster an inclusive and diverse team.
    • Work with the CoE to develop and implement a regional PSC people capability framework and development plan and be responsible for implementing the plan in the region.

    Governance & Compliance 

    • Adhere to applicable legislative and Anglo-American procurement policies & procedures, site and end user-based support and education.
    • Implement Anglo American’s policy and standards on Communities and Inclusive Procurement, reflecting our sustainability, inclusion & diversity ambitions as well as any other national imperatives.
    • Adhere to internal Anglo American and Supply Chain Governance requirements for all team members and pertaining to Inclusive Procurement activities in relevant portfolio.

    Qualifications:

    • Qualification: An undergraduate qualification - Bachelor degree level or equivalent (Supply Chain, Logistics, Projects or equivalent), alternatively relevant tertiary qualification and proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity. 

    Experience:

    • Practical experience in relevant field.
    • Enterprise & Supplier Development Experience Required. (BBBEE)
    • Mining Experience Preferred.

    Surface Surveyor

    Job Description:

    • Measure excavations
    • Install lines and grades at surface areas
    • Locate and lay out boreholes
    • Produce Survey layouts/instructions
    • Survey surface infrastructure (roads, dumps, civils, etc.)
    • Lay out surface infrastructure (roads, dumps, civils, etc.)
    • Ad hoc survey requests
    • Effective collection, analysis and reporting of survey data

    • This role is in the Survey Department at a Band D1 level reporting to the Chief Surveyor.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12
    • Advanced Chamber of Mines certificate (survey and valuation) and/or National Diploma
    • BTech in Mineral Survey or BSc Mine Surveying (Advantageous)
    • 5 years mining experience in underground or open cast environment.
    • Driving License Code 8

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft package (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
    • Advance use of model maker
    • Advance use of SURPAC and MicroStation
    • Be proficient in the use of the following equipment;
    • Trimble GPS
    • Scanning equipment
    • Theodolite Surveys
    • Levels
    • Scanning Software, Leica Cyclone, 3DR and Maptek.
    • Experience in Engineering/Civil Survey is advantageous.
    • Knowledge of usage of drone technology is advantageous.
