    Regional Manager

    Job Description

    Established in 1936, The Federated Employers Mutual Assurance Company (RF) Proprietary Limited (FEM) is a mutual insurer operating under license from the Compensation Commissioner and our business is governed by the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act of 1993.  Our operations are restricted to the Building and Construction Industry under the 0500 subclasses of the Department of Employment Labour’s classification of industries. FEM is registered as a non-life insurer in terms of the Insurance Act 18 of 2017.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for inter-alia providing direction co-ordination for the branch to support the strategic objectives of FEM and ensure robust and effective relations with internal and external stakeholders.  The successful candidate will be responsible for a team of approximately 17 staff members. The position will also include developing strategies and operational plans to ensure growth and sustainability of the branch/region. Knowledge of the Insurance Act and COIDA (Compensation for Injuries and Diseases Act) will be a distinct advantage. The successful candidate will also be required to develop and maintain relationships with FEM’s grant recipients, and industry specific stakeholders.

    The minimum requirement for the position is a related Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years related experience in a senior management environment, with at least 5 years in a financial services environment and 5 years in a marketing and sales environment. Excellent application of financial principles, marketing and sales, communications and analytical skills complete our requirements.

    We have offices regionally in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. The Cape Town Branch is based in Foreshore, Cape Town

    Junior Legal And Compliance Analyst

    Job Description

    FEM is looking to appoint a Junior Legal and Compliance Analyst to assist the Legal and Compliance Manager with assessing compliance with applicable regulatory requirements within the business, monitoring, training, contract drafting and reviews as well as providing legal advice, all of which form part of embedding the Compliance Framework. Furthermore, the successful incumbent will provide efficient compliance and legal support to the Head of departments and to enable them to perform their responsibilities relating to the compliance risk management process.

    The position requires an incumbent that has compliance and legal experience in monitoring and implementing compliance monitoring plans as well as conducting compliance audits for the organisation based on applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.

    Working knowledge of compliance within the insurance sector and in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements specific to FEM is a distinct advantage.

    The minimum requirements of the position are an LLB with a minimum of 3 years’ legal experience with at least 1 year in compliance. Furthermore, the successful candidate must be an admitted attorney for at least 2 years. Excellent analytical skills, the ability to work in a highly pressurised environment, quality orientation, reliability and excellent communication complete our requirements.

    We have offices regionally in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg.  This position will be located in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
