    Android Developer

    Job description

    Location of the position: Innovation Hub, Pretoria

    Start date: 17 July 2017 (if candidate can start sooner, it would be advantageous)

    Job Description

    We are looking for a well-versed, enthusiastic Android developer to help develop and maintain our innovative hearing health platforms. Work will vary between exciting new projects in line with provided designs and frameworks and maintaining and upgrading our current service offering, through improving and streamlining projects alongside further updates and additions. You would be required to report to both the developer lead and the lead project manager. At hearX, you will be exposed to a vast array of world-first mHealth systems. The mHealth space is growing rapidly worldwide and the hearX Group is at the forefront of providing effective and scalable solutions.

    That being said, the successful candidate will need to be agile to accommodate for high-stress and often dynamic situations

    Specific responsibilities include:

    • Be involved in the planning, design and development of first-to-market mHealth applications.
    • Taking personal ownership for projects as well as contributing to platform based products.
    • Working from wireframes to develop high quality Android applications
    • Working alongside fellow Android developers to help maintain the current 8+ hearX application suite
    • Following best practice design and development methodologies in sustaining a high quality, clean, auditable and manageable system.
    • Working within QMS frameworks for CE certification compliance.
    • Attend meetings alongside the project lead with stakeholders for requirement analysis and feedback purposes.

    Education and/or work experience requirements:

    • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience
    • Strong knowledge of the Android SDK and its supporting systems.
    • Good development practices utilising modern design patterns. Notably: MVC, MVVC, MVP, Singleton
    • A good understanding of storage mechanisms, threading, lifecycles, fragments, broadcasts, adapters, gradle.
    • Knowledge of common 3rd party libraries available and integration experience.
    • Strong UI development experience in xml and developing for dynamic screen support.
    • Experience in developing new view classes through extension of android view classes is an advantage.
    • Experience with RESTful API integration.
    • Well versed in Git
    • Being able to cope within stressful and dynamic (post-startup) environments.
    • Team player mentality with a strong focus on taking personal ownership.
    • Willingness to learn and contribute to the professional growth of fellow developers.

    iOS App Developer

    Job description

    Location of the position: Innovation Hub, Pretoria

    We are looking for an iOS developer with a minimum of 2 year’s industry experience responsible for the development and maintenance of applications aimed at a range of iOS devices. Your primary focus will be development of iOS applications and their integration with back-end services. You will be the company’s first iOS developer and therefore, a commitment to personal ownership, collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is essential.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

    • Design and build applications for the iOS platform
    • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
    • Collaborate with a team to define, design, and ship new features
    • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
    • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation

    Skills required:

    • Proficient with Swift (Preferable)
    • Experience with development architectures such as MVP, MVC, CLEAN etc.
    • Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
    • Familiarity with RESTful APIs
    • Understanding of Apple’s design principles and interface guidelines
    • Experience with performance and memory tuning with tools (Such as Instruments)
    • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
    • Knack for benchmarking and optimization
    • Proficient understanding of Git
    • Familiarity with continuous integration
    • Team player attitude

    Education and/or work experience requirements:

    • Relevant degree qualification will be advantageous

    Business Analyst

    Job description

    Location of the position: Innovation Hub, Pretoria

    Start date: 17 July 2017 (if candidate can start sooner, it would be advantageous)

    A dedicated and diligent business analyst is sought to report directly to the Lead Project Manager and CEO on National and international projects within the mHealth space. This includes keeping a handle on project aspects including proposals, budgets and financial models, progress tracking, management of resources and team capacity.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Full cycle Project and Product Management: including capacity management and resource tracking
    • System requirements and specification design
    • System testing and approval
    • Business process improvements and optimization
    • Multi-task on a suite of projects and products, all within different stages of development and implementation
    • Efficient and effective reporting to Lead Project Manager or line manager, including tracking of projects on QMS Wrapper
    • Risk analysis and mitigation
    • Working with front-end and back-end developers, marketing, sales and design departments to ensure a holistic management process of project management.

    Education and/or work experience requirements:

    The following qualifications, skills and abilities are required to perform the daily tasks and job duties listed above:

    • Bachelors of Engineering (Industrial) or a similar qualification
    • 2 years working experience minimum
    • Business Analysis (BA) experience would be advantageous
    • Excellent computer proficiency (especially in MS Office Excel)
    • Strong report and proposal writing skills will be advantageous
    • Experience in working in adherence to quality management system processes would be advantageous
    • Strong attention to detail and flexible in a changing environment
    • Creativity and innovation will be valued
