SCOPE
The Credit Controller is responsible for adhering to the policies and procedures of the credit department, identifying and managing risks, minimizing bad debt and increasing collections and thereby profits. The process involves a thorough understanding and knowledge of the entire revenue cycle and deals with a wide variety of people internal and external.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Risk assessment – review credit held order report daily
- Obtain authorization numbers for approved customer orders
- Reconciliations – accurate and update regularly
- Claims resolution – obtain copies, analyze, validate, process approved documents
- Invoice resolution – compare to POD and identify issues and query disputes with relevant parties
- Remittances – allocate accurately and analyze trading term deductions
- Journals – analyze supporting documentation, validate with Customer Development Managers and Customer Development Finance Analysts and process
- Collections – follow up and resolve queries in order to receive full payments on due dates
- Statements – review statements/invoices for accuracy and send to customers
- Prepare and present monthly reports for meetings with Customer Development teams
- Prepare and update monthly Cash Forecast
- Maintaining Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
- Supporting month end closing activities across Accounts Receivable
Level Of Education And Experience Preferred
- Credit Management qualification/Bachelor’s degree – Accounting/Finance preferred
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in a FMCG environment
Essential Skills/Attributes
- Problem solving and decision making skills
- Computer literacy, especially SAP, Windows Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES
- To effect payment to all local vendors
- Perform invoice verification on all invoices received from suppliers
- Communicating with the various departments within the company to resolve queries and problems
- Communicating with the various suppliers to obtain outstanding documentation
- Process credit note verification on SAP
- Collate the necessary documentation so that the payment to the supplier can be processed
- Reconcile payment proposed to the Supplier’s statement on Excel
- Schedule and complete a payment run
- Process all documentation relating to SOI (Supplier Owned Inventory) vendors.
- Analyse variances that arise as a result of pricing or quantity and post these in the General Ledger
- Download open items from SAP to Excel and clear AP vouchered items (items that have been goods receipted but not paid). This involves communicating with the various departments to ensure that a duplicate Goods receipt note has not been prepared
- Collect and distribute post and faxes for the Finance Department on a daily basis
- Prepare and submit month-end reports
LEVEL OF EDUCATION
Grade 12 and tertiary qualification . Minimum 2 – 3 years’ experience in an FMCG environment in an accounts payable department.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
- Analytical Skills
- Good communication skills
- Computer competency, especially in Microsoft Office programs
- SAP experience a will be an added advantage
