    Minimum Requirement

    Lecturer P8

    • At least two years of teaching or industry experience
    • Demonstrate evidence in the form of publications in DHET-accredited journals and /or peer-reviewed article/s in a scholarly journal (not mandatory)
    • Honours degree supervision
    • Demonstrate willingness to develop teaching capacity and reflect on personal teaching and learning philosophy
    • Evidence of active participation in professional, industry and/or community activities

    Associate Professor P6/Professor P5: Statistics/Mathematical Statistics (Re-advertised)

    Minimum Requirement

    Associate Professor  

    • PhD/Doctorate in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics 
    • At least eight years relevant experience  
    • Demonstrate evidence of continuous research output in the form of: Publications in DHET accredited journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings; research papers presented at national and/or international conferences; patents and/ or similar product of research; contribution to scholarly books published by a recognized publishing house; citation record (e.g. Scopus h- index); evidence of research leadership in publication/ grant application; NRF rating is strongly recommended; external research funds raised; national and/or international research publications.
    • Approach to teaching; leadership contributions to curriculum development, design of learning materials, and innovative pedagogy and/or SoTL; student and junior staff mentoring; successful supervision of postgraduate students including PhD students; formal participation in teaching and learning development courses; Student and/or peer evaluations of own teaching.
    • Demonstrate evidence of: Significant involvement in discipline, departmental and/or institutional official activities and processes which includes active academic participation in workshops/forums in higher education as well as community engagement activities and CE as a scholarly activity; External examining/moderating at other HEIs at UG and PG levels.

    Professor 

    • PhD/Doctorate in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics 
    • At least ten years relevant experience 
    • Demonstrate evidence of continuous research output in the form of: continual and sustained research outputs in high impact DHET - accredited journals in a mix of local and international journals; scholarly contributions to books published by recognized publishers; evidence of external research funds raised; Establish and maintain productive research linkages and networks with leading scholars at national and international level; Presentations of research papers as invited or keynote speaker at scholarly
      local and international conferences; must be NRF rated or in the case of international candidates have a CV conducive to successful NRF rating, have a notable citation track record (evident through an h-index commensurate to period as active research), research leadership demonstrated through authorship position on publications and grant applications.
    • Evidence to teaching; leadership contributions to curriculum development, design of learning materials and innovative pedagogy; student and staff mentoring; successful supervision of postgraduate students including PhD students; formal participation in teaching and learning development courses; contributions to presenting teaching and learning courses; scholarly contributions to teaching and learning development; Student and/or peer evaluations of own teaching.

      and organising committees of significant conferences; external examining/moderating at other HEIs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels

    Duties and Responsibility

    Support SMME Clients

    • Plan, implement and manage the enterprise development projects, programmes, products and services aimed at SMMEs.
    • Assist SMME clients through advice, consultations, and other interventions, in order to grow turnover
    • Work with SMME’s to identify and evaluate profitable business opportunities.
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to SMMEs.

    Train Start-up and Existing Entrepreneurs

    • Coordinate training and capacity development for SMME’s.

    Establish SMME’s

    • Assist entrepreneurs with the establishment of SMME’s.
    • Provide advice and assistance on registration of SMME’s.
    • Stimulate activity within dormant SMME’s or SMME’s that are not actively operational.

    Encourage and Stimulate Innovation

    • Encourage an environment of Innovative thinking and commercialisation of innovative ideas.

    Recruitment & Stakeholder Relationships

    • Provide guidance on the required profile of clients to be recruited.
    • Assist the official responsible for marketing with the recruitment of new clients.
    • Maintain an excellent stakeholder relationship with existing and potential stakeholders
    • Promote relations with relevant stakeholders
    • Liaise with different sector stakeholders and broader business community.

    Administration

    • Provide management, stakeholders, and SMME’s with information.
