    Enterprise Architect - Durban

    Minimum Requirements:

    • An NQF Level 7 qualification in ICT/Computer Science or Electronic Engineering
    • 8 years’ experience in an Enterprise Architecture environment
    • 3 years’ experience as an Enterprise Architect
    • TOGAF or other related architecture certification

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Analyse the DUT and ICT strategy and roadmap to determine the future trends, strategic direction and legal implications.
    • Interpret the DUT and ICT strategy and roadmap and relate to the Enterprise Architecture roadmap to determine the direction of the specific area.
    • Conduct research on the ICT Industry trends, enterprise architecture technology and systems and the impact on the other areas.
    • A request to conduct business analysis is received and is analysed to determine the nature and extent of the analysis; or
    • The need for business analysis is identified during the execution of outputs.
    • The goals and purpose of the business analysis are defined.
    • Compile a business case.
    • Initiate research through a pro-activity into trends.
    • Define the objectives of the research in accordance with the requirement.
    • Produce the research paper in accordance with standards and format containing all the relevant information satisfying the objectives and the outcomes of the research.
    • Integrate the research findings into the enterprise architecture strategy and roadmap.
    • Architecture implementation is required in accordance with upgrades on the current enterprise architecture; or
    • New architecture must be implemented due to organisational requirements.
    • Determine dependencies and independencies to other systems and the architecture impact.
    • Analyse the architecture specifications in terms of implementation requirements.
    • Conduct the appropriate pre-implementation testing in accordance with test cases and scenarios.
    • Develop an implementation plan to ensure smooth implementation.
    • Receive a request for consultation and analyse to determine the nature and extent of the consultation to be provided.
    • Determine the outcomes of the consultation process in collaboration with the requestor/identified needs to ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Identify the information/resolution required by the relevant role players.
    • Agree to the time frames for execution of consultation actions.

    Lecturer, Jewellery Design

    Minimum requirements:

    • A completed Masters/M. Tech in Jewellery Design & Manufacture (Visual Arts) or an appropriate associated field. However, a candidate with a Doctorate degree will be given preference.
    • At least 3 years lecturing experience at an undergraduate level at a tertiary institution. 

    Additional Recommendations:

    • A research track record (publications/ creative outputs and/or exhibitions).
    • Lecturing experience with English Second Language students.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
    • A portfolio of creative work that demonstrates an engagement with jewellery design, adornment arts, or related.
    • Familiarity and/or experience with Online Teaching Platforms (Moodle)
    • CAD/CAM basic skills (Rhino 3D)
    • Bench experience in jewellery manufacturing is preferred, but a goldsmith certificate is not required.
    • Competency in a range of art/craft skills (such as weaving, ceramics, casting, textiles, beadwork, carving, metal work etc.)
    • Industry related engagement and experience.
    • Drawing skills (relating to design, visualisation, problem solving and technical drawing).
    • Entrepreneurial and marketing skills (social media, blogging, e-commerce etc.) 

    Summary of Duties:

    • Lecture in the undergraduate program of Jewellery Design and Manufacture while contributing to postgraduate learning.
    • Facilitate skills development, particularly in jewellery-specific technology and manufacturing.
    • Facilitate the integration of design and drawing with manufacturing processes in the curriculum.
    • Facilitate/implement interdisciplinary practice that links design theory and practice in the curriculum.

    Facilities and Maintenance Manager

    Minimum Requirements:

    • NQF Level 7 qualification in Relevant field of specialization OR Built Environment OR Engineering OR related field.
    • Registered with Professional Body.
    • Eligible to be registered as a professional member of ECSA OR PMP OR SACPMP OR relevant field
    • At least five years’ experience in a specialist’s environment.

    Summary of Duties:

    • Inspecting, assessing, and assigning to approved work and services to service providers, ensure that service providers/contracts /internal staff execute work correctly, timely and according to the required standards or service levels.
    • Implement, utilize, and update electronic system to plan and execute work procedures (Planned or Scheduled maintenance programs).
    • Managing of the Work packages or work orders throughout all the statuses and project/contract phases. Emergency work management and scheduling of the work and informing all stakeholders.
    • Manages work quality in accordance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
    • Defines risk response control to enable the pro-active management of the identified risks.
    • Oversees work execution undertaken to ensure the desired results are achieved, the most efficient resources are utilised, and the different interests involved are satisfied.
    • Conducts quality assurance in accordance with set schedules to ensure that the deliverables adhere to set standards.
    • Assists and advises relevant internal stakeholders, and teams to the best use DUT resources and approaches.
    • Undertakes other duties or manage certain projects which may arise or as may be delegated from time to time.
    • Prepares and submits reports/statistics of work undertaken reports to various structures as required, in accordance with the reporting schedule.
    • Track and report work deliverables and performance management of contractors. Keep records and report, providing a real-time, comprehensive, and prioritized view of all work objectives.
    • Prepares the monthly consolidated management report on operational and running cost.
    • Maintain good communication with all stakeholders, develop and create the process of engaging with all stakeholder and feedback process (staff, students, and Service Providers).
    • Provide and plan work for service contractors to have access to areas where work needs to be carried out.
    • Engage stakeholders and create awareness procedures (to inform occupants or users in advance if access is required in advance to perform work).
    • Identify the deliverables in accordance with a formulated project plan to determine the resource requirements in terms of availability and competence.
    • Select staff and allocate to the identified areas of responsibility.
    • Inform staff of the expected roles and responsibilities to ensure that all involved staff understand their part in the project.
    • Plan and execute project team development to ensure the highest possible level of synergy and team performance.
    • Analyses the HR plan, determine the relevant deliverables and set performance targets for own team in the department.
    • Ensures the implementation of learning and development programmes for staff, including personal development plans.
    • Creates and maintains a climate conducive for team performance to enable the team to deliver on set targets.
    • Monitors and measures the department performance in accordance with the metrics agreed upon in the performance agreements and corporate balance score card.
    • Initiates pro-active and corrective actions as required to ensure service delivery.
    • Complete management actions within the required time frames.
    • Coach direct reports by compiling and providing clear feedback on work performance and provides constructive suggestions to improve performance.

    Director: (Transport, Fleet, Business Operations) Logistical Services

    Minimum Requirements:

    • An Honour’s Degree (NQF Level 8) in (Transport and Fleet Management, Business Operations – PREFERRED) OR Logistics Management OR Business Management OR related field.
    • 6 to 10 years’ experience as a senior manager responsible for operations and/or transport, fleet services.
    • Prior experience in managing transport, fleet, operations.
    • Experience in management of routes scheduling and maintenance of insourced/outsourced services.
    • Strategic planning background in relation to all facets of logistical services (transport, fleet) area of business operation.
    • Exposure to the development of budgets, cost control, and related budgetary management.
    • Management of human capital, performance management, absenteeism, and disciplinary processes.
    • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and organisational abilities.

    Summary of Duties:

    • Develop and implement integrated transport, fleet, operations management systems / strategy to support Institutional strategy/objectives.
    • Direct transport, fleet, operations plans which ensure proper coordination to connect business services across the board to maximise returns while providing strong support to operations in adherence to performance standards.
    • Strategically plan and manage transportation and fleet services.
    • Ensure Integrated Planning amongst all Logistics: Transport & Fleet Infrastructure and Operational Stakeholders.
    • Manage the planning and/or implementation of logistics projects and improvement of processes.
    • Ensure that all logistics solutions are fully integrated.
    • Develop and implement strategies and best practices within the function for purposes of enhancing service delivery and efficiencies.
    • Investigate and introduce/implement new and automated or digital ways of delivering the logistics function in line with required labour, service levels, costs and customer needs.
    • Advise on the development of a logistics operating model and value chain that enhances the logistics function and optimizes productivity of the human capital.

    • Oversee the continuous development and implementation of Logistical Information System, maintenance and functionality of the system.

    • Ensure fleet, transport and logistical services are managed in accordance with the policies of the University, by rendering the following operational services.
    • Ensure availability of vehicles (internal or outsourced) through effective servicing programme and other means.
    • Manage the costs of running the fleet to the advantage of the university.
    • Allocate vehicles according to requirements ensuring best fit of vehicle to task.
    • Ensure proper maintenance of the fleet in accordance with standard operating procedure as agreed to with the service providers.
    • Direct the various functions of printing operations including graphic arts, photocopy, offset press, and bindery to achieve quality printing in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
    • Promotes preventative maintenance as a strategy thus extending the operational life of printing and postal equipment.
    • Operate an independent mail service by ensuring that the University's mail service complies with rules and regulations in the receipt, handling and distribution of all classes of mail.
    • Analyse the HR plan, determine the relevant deliverables and set performance targets for the own team in the department.
    • Develop and implement performance management targets.
    • Manage the department in accordance with policies, procedures and legal requirements.
    • Complete management actions within the required time frames.
    • Monitor and evaluate the impact of own repartees development interventions on performance.
