    Actuarial Analyst - Sandton

    Role Purpose    

    • Perform reserving calculations and regulatory capital reporting and assist with capital management and regulatory compliance for Guardrisk Life Limited.

    Requirements    

    • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science
    • Making good progress towards qualification as Fellow
    • At least 3-6 years working experience, preferably in life insurance
    • Experience in information technology (Prophet, DCS and SQL experience will be an advantage), with a willingness to learn more
    • Experience in life valuations and SAM reporting will be an advantage

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Responsibilities balance of South African and Mauritian life cell clients
    • Maintain allocated cell client models calculating IFRS4 and IFRS17 reserves
    • Maintain allocated cell client models for SAM SCR and Technical Provisions
    • Participate in the ORSA process for allocated clients
    • Direct client engagement on balance sheet management matters
    • Assist in regulatory return preparation and dealing with queries

    Role Purpose    

    • You will play an integral part at Guardrisk Life, working in a unique environment along with our clients and internal teams to review new or changing products. This role includes product development work on a variety of products, as well as working on multiple other facets of the solutions, working with clients, structuring of deals and solving interesting problems in the business.

    Requirements

    Portfolio Manager Life - Sandton

    Role Purpose    

    • To market Guardrisk’s Life products and services to existing and prospective clients and to provide after-sales service to existing clients.

    Requirements    

    • Matric
    • Relevant tertiary degree and/or Insurance qualification. (Marketing team consists of individuals with various technical skills such as actuaries, attorneys, accountants.)
    • Candidate will be required to obtain an RE5 designation
    • At least 2 - 4 years’ experience in the insurance and financial services industries
    • Technical life insurance knowledge with strong people skills to negotiate optimal solutions with various stakeholders

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Marketing Guardrisk Life to prospective new clients
    • Managing third-party cell captives, where products include amongst others funeral (individual and group), individual life and disability, credit life and investment products. The responsibilities include
    • Ensuring effective management of various stakeholders in the insurance value chain (cell owners, binder holders, intermediaries, consultants, reinsurers, administrators)
    • Reviewing cells’ financials and managing revenue streams
    • Facilitating reinsurance renewals via the reinsurance department
    • Ensuring compliance with market conduct standards and relevant legislative requirements
    • Ensuring that legal contracting is correct, up to date and in place
    • Tending to client queries
    • Marketing and cross selling of Guardrisk Life’s products and services to existing clients
    • Assisting clients with product development for third-party risks
    • Setting up internal processes for each client with all relevant internal technical areas such as finance, actuarial, underwriting, legal, risk, compliance
    • Contribute to the enhancement and improvement of existing internal processes

    Product Owner/ Delivery Manage - Sandton

    Role Purpose    

    • Set, prioritise and evaluate the work generated by business product owners and development teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products meeting all necessary business outcomes, requirements, features and functionality required by the business for the Cell Captive Platform and related solutions, data acquisition and usage of said data in the Guardrisk Group.

    Requirements    

    • Relevant qualification in  Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related area (essential)
    • Relevant progression certificates (such as Agile/LEAN) Scrum Certified Product Owner (desirable)
    • At least 2 years' relevant experience as a Product Owner or Product Consultant (essential)

    Investment Accountant - Sandton

    Role Purpose    

    • Accurately control and process financial information for an investment portfolio. Prepare financial reports and analysis to enable business processes.

    Requirements    

    • Degree in Financial Management or Accounting
    • Honours Degree in Financial Management or Accounting or Investments (preferred)
    • Completed accounting articles (preferred)
    • At least 3 years’ experience in investment accounting

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Management of the Investment Accounting function for the Guardrisk Insurance Company Limited, Guardrisk Life Limited and Guardrisk Microinsurance Limited investment portfolios, including Unitised and dedicated investments for cell captive & contingency policy clients
    • Accurately, efficiently and timely capturing and reporting of investment related transactions of all investment portfolios
    • Review and /or prepare investment related payment documents and obtain the necessary source documentation and authorisation to effect payments timely and with the determined service level agreement levels
    • Review and approve the general ledger journal allocations based on levels of authority and policy
    • Review all documentation to ensure that the correct level of authority has authorised the document and raise any exceptions with the relevant stakeholder
    • Preparation of investment and disinvestment instructions authorised according to the sub delegation of authority,
    • Completion of asset manager FICA documentation and safekeeping of confidential information
    • Prepare and review investment transactions and reporting of each investment portfolio
    • Compile and prepare monthly, quarterly and year end investment and interest reconciliations including completion of the monthly cashbook reconciliations 
    • Compile quarterly asset allocation report for submission to the Reserve Bank and asset spreading recons to be used by the balance sheet management department
    • Completion of the new instrument data reconciliations to be included in the Group sector tree instrument allocation report
    • Identify and report respective investment accounting or reporting issues
    • Investigate and resolve any outstanding queries in relation to investment accounting issues
    • Portfolio support and management/servicing by working closely with the portfolio accountants, portfolio manager and other colleagues
    • Identify and resolve problem sources or escalate to relevant level of authority
