    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    • Lecturer in the School of Industrial Engineering for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and learning, research, as well as postgraduate student supervision. Research interests in operations research, data analytics and decision support systems will be an added advantage.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Teaching

    • Preparation of study guides and subject material

    Final Year Supervision

    Senior IT Technician (2 POSITIONS) M000008/M000009

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    • Provide a Service Desk and information communication technology installation, maintenance and support function to NWU users to support their business functions. The responsibilities includes: timely and effective processing and resolution of all information technology and telecommunication incidents, problems and requests following agreed procedures and acting as liaison between users and information technology department on problem areas, managing client expectations.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Service Desk and Incident Management

    • Log, analyse, investigate, escalate, monitor, track, resolve, and close complex incidents, problems and requests reported by telephone, request system, e-mail or walk-in, within service level and escalate to responsible agent where applicable by applying the Incident Management Process.
    • Escalate complex problems to appropriate support team and coordinate rapid resolution thereof.
    • Monitor progress of escalated tickets to ensure resolution by assigned agent within service level.
    • Manage incident until completion.
    • Identify recurring incidents by conducting trend analysis.
    • Determine absolute cause of incidents by recreating the issues in test environment or reviewing system design.

    Infrastructure Support

    • Assist with the investigation and resolution of hardware, software network problems within service level an applying applicable process.
    • Install, support and maintain IT infrastructure as assigned by applying applicable process and ensuring agreed availability
    • Build and cast images as assigned by applying the applicable process and ensuring agreed availability.
    • Execute hardware replacement strategy as assigned by applying the applicable process
    • Execute routine system checks and backups as assigned
    • Monitor and report maintenance and support physical infrastructure in central IT spaces by applying applicable process, ensuring agreed availability, resolution within service level and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
    • Provide IT standby service as assigned.

    Client liaison

    • Update user on progress and status of ticket.
    • Provide advice on IT policy, guidelines, procedures and systems.
    • Provide training on IT services and infrastructure (software, hardware, data and voice networks) as assigned.
    • Market IT services.
    • Handle general IT queries.

    Administration

    • Keep relevant IT documents and systems up-to-date.

    The Director will take a hands-on role in overseeing the UCE's operations, including course development, business development, stakeholder relations, and financial management.     JOB DESCRIPTION

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Strategy Determination & Alignment

    • Collaborate with the university executive to determine the UCE strategy, ensuring its implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
    • Support academic leadership in aligning the CE portfolio with NWU strategy, market trends, and managing growth and relevance.

    Business Development

    • Develop and implement a business development plan for UCE targeted at portfolio level, specific groups, course level, and event level.
    • Oversee initiatives to position the unit and brand for successful model delivery.

    Operations Management

    • Ensure effective logistical support from course planning, scheduling, venues, and teaching material.
    • Handle day-to-day operations including office administration, HR, and finance matters.

    Course Development

    • Oversee logistical support to faculties and short course owners for budgeting, pricing, events, marketing, venues, teaching material, certifications.
    • Adopt best-in-class information and communication technology to support the core business.

    Stakeholder Relations

    • Maintain sound relationships with key stakeholders in industry and government such as SETAs and professional bodies.
    • Develop and implement systems, processes, and procedures to execute the UCE marketing and branding policy.

    Financial Management

    • Manage the unit’s finances and ensure proper utilisation of UCE’s finances.
    • Maximise profitability according to agreed targets.

    Management and Leadership

    • Determine optimal team composition and efficiency for resource utilisation and system design.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Business Development, Marketing or an equivalent qualification on NQF level 9 in a related area of specialisation. (In addition to the Master’s degree candidates should be in possession of an undergraduate and postgraduate degree specialising in Education/ Management/Business Administration/Educational Leadership or relevant field)
    • A minimum of 7 years’ overall relevant specialist experience of which 4 years should be on an operational level of involvement and 3 years at management level.
