    Principal Specialist: Data Products

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • A strategic role combining data product management and organisational culture change to embed a data-first mindset across Vodacom Group. This role is essential to defining and co-building enterprise-wide data products, coordinating the Data Product Delivery Squads, and driving data literacy, capability uplift and change management initiatives across Group and all operating companies.
    • The role partners closely with the Head of Data to translate the Group Data Strategy into tangible Data Products and a thriving data culture.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Define and Co Build Enterprise Data Products

    • Define and co build enterprise wide data products (e.g. Customer, Network, Fraud, Supply Chain) in collaboration with functional data stewards and business champions.
    • Develop and maintain data product roadmaps, backlogs and documentation to ensure clarity, discoverability and reuse.
    • Partner with data engineering, data science and technology teams to ensure data products are scalable, high quality and accessible.

    Embed Data Product Management Disciplines

    • Champion data as a product thinking by establishing product management practices such as OKRs, prioritisation, iteration cycles and user feedback loops.
    • Maintain the enterprise data product catalogue, ensuring consistent product definitions across markets and domains.
    • Support governance aligned prioritisation of data products in partnership with functional data stewards.

    Drive Data Culture, Literacy and Capability Uplift

    • Design and deliver data literacy, capability uplift and change management initiatives across Group and operating companies.
    • Identify data capability gaps and co design interventions (training, workshops, communications) to improve data fluency at all organisational levels.
    • Champion data democratisation and promote effective, responsible use of data in decision making.

    Coordinate Enterprise Communities and Knowledge Sharing

    • Build, coordinate and facilitate the Data Products Delivery Squads and across Group and our 8 markets. 
    • Enable knowledge sharing, reuse of best practice and alignment across markets and domains through Data Product Community of Practise.
    • Monitor external trends and emerging practices in data product management and data culture to inform internal approaches.

    Track Adoption, Maturity and Value Realisation

    • Track and report on Data product adoption, data maturity and value realisation metrics across Group and markets. 
    • Provide insights to the Head of Data on progress, risks and improvement opportunities related to data products and culture initiatives. 
    • Support continuous improvement of Group-wide data products and culture programmes based on performance insights.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in data product management, data strategy, data analytics or a related data role.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information System, Computer Science or a related field (essential).
    • Professional certification in Product Management and Product Delivery (e.g. AIPMM CPM, Safe Agile) or Data Management (e.g. DAMA CDMP) is advantageous.

    Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

    Specialist Application Support

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • To ensure an effective and efficient application support service is rendered and maintained in the DevOps & Application Operations Practices within the Self Service & Robotic Enablement Division.

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    Specialist: Unbranded Channel

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • Drive revenue and customer growth through the usage of Vodacom’s Products and Services across the unbranded channels within a geographical area. Manage and maintain the relationship with respective trade and channel partners, the internal organisation, and suppliers.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Manage the unbranded channel stores (NC/WH/AD’s/Informal stores) within a geographical location.
    • First line escalation from trade partners (customer queries) – ECLO.
    • Manage field marketing agency by ensuring operational compliance and excellence – retail pricing compliance, comparative pricing reporting, availability of stock, updated deals, campaigns & branding.
    • Achieving specific sales and customer service targets and objectives aligned to the unbranded regional strategy.
    • Stakeholder relationships across national chains, wholesalers, alternative distributors and informal trade partners.
    • Identify partnerships and collaborations to drive sales through brand and product awareness.
    • Implement the distribution strategy within the Unbranded Channels space.
    • To implement the Unbranded Channel strategy and roadmap, to ensure maximum sales return and exposure.

    • Establish and maintain relationships with informal traders and spaza operators on behalf of Vodacom to enable improved understanding and establish greater understanding of evolving consumer trends and behaviours.
    • Ensure implementation and success of new products and services and identify opportunities to drive product awareness.

    Product Operations Microsoft

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • This Product Operations role – Microsoft is focused on managing and executing product strategy, perform the end-to-end operational and commercial lifecycle of Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider subscriptions for Vodacom Business.
    • The role ensures accurate provisioning, renewals, billing and reconciliation; provides licensing guidance across Microsoft products; maintains Partner Center governance and compliance; and coordinates Sales, Finance, Service Operations, distributors and Microsoft to deliver accurate customer outcomes, protect revenue and improve operational efficiency.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Co-ordinate and track all customer renewal requirements by working with the relevant sales teams and Product Specialist Sales team to secure renewal and upsell of all our solution offerings. This needs to be of profitable growth and expansion of market share for that product or solution.
    • To be responsible for developing and implementing renewal programmes by working with various distributors and partners to be aligned with the best we can offer to our customers. Supported by all the specific product and service’s sales & support documentation, costing and pricing models
    • Manage Microsoft CSP subscription orders and lifecycle events, including provisioning, quantity changes, upgrades, migrations, suspensions, cancellations, renewals, billing-term changes and end-date alignment, in line with Microsoft policy and approved customer instructions.
    • Maintain accurate customer, tenant, subscription, price, term and renewal records across Microsoft Partner Center and Vodacom CRM, order-management and billing systems.
    • Interpret Microsoft product terms, CSP and New Commerce Experience rules, eligibility requirements, promotions and commercial changes, and translate them into clear guidance for Sales, Finance, Service Operations and customers.
    • Validate quotations, product SKUs, quantities, pricing, billing frequency, commitment term, foreign-exchange assumptions and margin before order submission or renewal.
    • Must be able to perform monthly reconciliation of Microsoft invoices and reconciliation files against distributor statements, internal systems and customer billing; investigate variances, credits and failed transactions to prevent revenue leakage when required.
    • Maintain Partner Center operational governance, including user access, customer relationships, Partner IDs, delegated administration and audit evidence, in accordance with Vodacom security controls and Microsoft partner requirements.
    • Track renewal dates, cancellation windows, scheduled changes and customer approvals; issue proactive renewal and exception alerts to accountable stakeholders.
    • Log, own and resolve provisioning, licensing, billing and platform escalations with Microsoft, distributors and internal support teams within agreed service levels. 
    • Maintain standard operating procedures, controls, knowledge articles and process improvements, and support automation of repeatable ordering, reconciliation and reporting activities.

    Stakeholder Management 

    • Act as the operational licensing point of contact for Sales, Product, Finance, Commercial, Service Operations and customer-facing teams.
    • Work with account teams to clarify customer requirements, validate licensing options and ensure complete, approved order inputs before fulfilment.
    • Maintain effective working relationships with Microsoft, appointed distributors and relevant OEM support teams to resolve commercial and operational issues.
    • Provide timely status updates on pricing, orders, renewals, billing exceptions and escalations, with clear ownership and next actions.
    • Deliver licensing and process enablement sessions and maintain current operational guidance for internal stakeholders. 

    Reporting 

    • Prepare and maintain renewal, subscription, provisioning and exception dashboards, including upcoming commitments and cancellation deadlines.
    • Produce monthly billing-reconciliation and revenue-assurance reports, with root causes, ageing, financial impact and corrective actions.
    • Report operational service levels, order accuracy, provisioning turnaround times, renewal completion, unresolved escalations and credit-note trends.
    • Maintain audit-ready records of customer approvals, quotations, orders, changes, invoices, credits, renewals and exceptions.
    • Highlight recurring control gaps and recommend process, system or automation improvements to management.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Operations or a related field.
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, AZ-900, and Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, SC-900. A previously earned Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals credential may also be recognised.
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Copilot and Agent Administration Fundamentals, AB-900 (advantageous).
    • Current Microsoft CSP, NCE and Partner Center commercial training. 
    • Five to 10 years’ relevant experience in Microsoft CSP operations, cloud licensing, software asset management, ICT commercial operations, billing or order fulfilment within a Microsoft partner, distributor or enterprise environment.
    • Demonstrable hands-on experience with Microsoft Partner Center and the administration of Microsoft products including Dynamics 365 and Azure subscriptions.
    • Experience with Microsoft CSP and New Commerce Experience terms, subscription lifecycle rules, pricing, invoicing and reconciliation.
    • Experience working with CRM, ERP, billing or marketplace platforms and managing high-volume operational data is advantageous.

    Senior Administrator Application Support

    Role Purpose/Business Unit:

    • To ensure an effective and efficient application support service with an emphasis on Event Streaming is rendered and maintained in the DevOps & Application Operations Practices within the Commercial & Digital Channels Division.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • To troubleshoot and resolve application and system issues, develop solutions, document correction process, ensure fixes are implemented and monitored.
    • To compile incident reports, attend/conduct incident reviews and follow through to ensure permanent fixes for production problems.
    • To maintain Operational Integrity Controls (ICE) and oversee their adoption, ensuring that all relevant processes are implemented, maintained and adhered to, and that all key controls are documented and executed.
    • To interface with different role players (Vendors, Change Management, IT, Customer Care departments etc.) to ensure that any operational changes or incidents are effectively and efficiently resolved and a solution implemented.
    • To plan and optimize change controls as a result of system/application upgrades and configuration changes, adhering to Change Control procedures.
    • To be involved with and facilitate the process of acceptance and/or application performance testing to ensure a stable production environment.
    • To input into capacity plans (e.g. stability, performance, storage etc) to ensure systems have resources for future growth.
    • To maintain good relationships with stakeholders, business partners and suppliers.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • Matric / Grade 12 essential. 
    • 2-3 years relevant experience.
    • AWS certifications (DevOps / SysOps) are advantageous.
    • ITIL certifications is advantageous.
    • 2-3 years’ experience in Application Operations, inclusive of cloud-native environments (essential).
    • Working in a 24/7 Application Support (standby) environment utilising various technologies (essential).
    • Exposure to Enterprise platforms (i.e. large scale) with a high availability requirement (essential).
    • Linux/Unix experience is advantageous.

    Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

    • Application of ITIL principles in an operational environment.
    • Experience and knowledge (2+ years) of the telecommunications industry.
    • Experience working in a large agile environment, with multiple teams.
    • Experience supporting Enterprise IT Systems.
    • Familiarity with application performance monitoring and advanced troubleshooting, including expertise in monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics) and performance optimization techniques.
    • Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture, real-time data streaming and distributed messaging systems, including Confluent Kafka and Apache Flink.
    • Understanding of streaming patterns, event processing, consumer offset management, data replication and high-availability architectures.
    • In-depth understanding of application stacks, databases, middleware technologies and distributed streaming platforms, including Confluent Kafka, Kafka Connect, Schema Registry and Apache Flink.

    • Demonstrates the ability to effectively adopt and utilise AI-enabled tools, digital technologies and automation capabilities to improve personal productivity, quality and service delivery.
    • Applies data-driven and technology-enabled approaches to solve business problems and improve operational outcomes.
    • Maintains awareness of emerging technology and AI trends and contributes ideas that improve processes, customer experience and operational effectiveness.
    • Demonstrates AI fluency and literacy through the ability to effectively use, evaluate and govern AI-enabled tools and solutions, applying them responsibly to improve business outcomes, productivity and decision-making.
    • Maintains awareness of emerging technology and AI trends and contributes ideas that improve processes, customer experience and operational effectiveness.
    • Demonstrates AI fluency and literacy through the ability to effectively use, evaluate and govern AI-enabled tools and solutions, applying them responsibly to improve business outcomes, productivity and decision-making.
