    861 Deputy Director: Facilities (P6)

    Main purpose of the job

    To manage the overall maintenance and logistics of CUT Infrastructure, facilities and assets at Bloemfontein and Welkom Campuses.

    1. Develop appropriate policies and procedures for the facility management unit
    2. Provide logistical support
    3. Manage and monitor buildings and facilities management
    4. Manage and monitor health and safety compliance for the unit
    5. Manage and monitor projects
    6. Manage and monitor suppliers and sub-contractors
    7. Manage the performance and development of staff
    8. Provide input into the development of a budget for the section
    9. Provide reports
    10. Represent the unit internally at different forums

    Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience

    1. A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in the built environment (NQF 7).
    2. Five (5) years’ experience in managing infrastructure maintenance, facilities and asset management, operations logistics–preferably university–related, including vehicle fleet, gardening, cleaning and sport field management
    3. Three (3) years' people management experience in a complex work environment such as a university.
    4. Professional registration such as ECSA, SACPCMP, SACQSP, or equivalent.
    5. Sound knowledge in areas of maintenance, facilities and operations, logistics management as well as all operations – related support services.
    6. Valid Driver’s licence.
    7. Comprehensive working knowledge of infrastructure and estates policies and procedures in a university environment.
    8. Comprehensive working knowledge of a range of legislation impacting the University e.g. LRA, BBBEE, BCE, OHS Act.
    9. Comprehensive working knowledge of building and construction codes and regulations.

    Desired Qualification, Knowledge, and/Or Experience

    1. An honour’s degree or an equivalent qualification in the built environment (NQF 8)
    2. Eight (8) years’ experience in managing infrastructure maintenance, facilities and asset management, operations logistics–preferably university–related, including vehicle fleet, gardening, cleaning and sport field management
    3. Five (5) years’ people management experience.

    1. Evidence of progress towards a Doctorate degree

    1684 Senior Lecturer: Health Sciences

    Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience

    1. A relevant Doctorate-level degree (i.e., D Tech / PhD/ NQF 10 or equivalent) in Bioinformatics or a closely related discipline (e.g., Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science with applications in life sciences, or Molecular Biology (with a strong computational focus).
    2. Four (4) years’ teaching/lecturing experience in the relevant subject field.

    Evidence of research output, post-graduate supervision, and presentations at national and international conferences in line with CUT’s promotion requirements, which requires:

    1. 1.5 credit outputs (books, chapters in books, articles in accredited journals, papers published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, patents, etc.)
    2. Two (2) completed master’s degrees as co-supervisor; or one completed master’s degree as supervisor. (Not applicable if the applicant already has a minimum of 2.0 publication, research, or innovation credit outputs at Lecturer level)
    3. Four (4) cumulative presentations/papers at conferences, of which at least one should be an international presentation/paper (international conferences held in South Africa are also regarded as international conferences).
    4. Involvement in at least one community project (related to the teaching and learning, and the research and innovation curriculum).

    1102 Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer: Health Sciences

    Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience
    To be appointed as an Associate Professor:

    1. A relevant SAQA-approved Doctoral-level degree (i.e. D Tech / PhD/ NQF 10 or equivalent) in Clinical Technology/Health-related qualification.
    2. Six (6) years’ teaching/lecturing experience in the relevant subject field.

    Evidence of research output, postgraduate supervision and presentations at national and international conferences in line with CUT’s promotion requirements, which requires:

    1. 3.0 credit units at Senior Lecturer level or 4.5 cumulative credit units (books, chapters in books, articles in accredited journals, papers published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, patents, etc.)
    2. Three completed master’s degrees as a main supervisor; OR two completed doctorates (as main supervisor) at Senior Lecturer level OR four completed master’s degrees OR three cumulative completed doctorates (as main supervisor) OR at least one completed master’s degrees (as main supervisor) and at least 9.0 cumulative credit units.
    3. Ten cumulative presentations/papers at conferences, of which at least three cumulative presentations/posters at an international conference.
    4. Lead/manage at least one research project.       

    To be appointed as Senior Lecturer:

    1. A relevant Doctorate-level degree (i.e., D Tech / PhD/ NQF 10 or equivalent) in Clinical Technology/Health-related qualification.
    2. Four (4) years’ teaching/lecturing experience in the relevant subject field.

    Evidence of research output, post-graduate supervision, and presentations at national and international conferences in line with CUT’s promotion requirements, which requires:

    3. Evidence of the acquisition of research grants from local and international sources.
    4. In possession of a teaching qualification in higher education.
    5. In possession of a National Research Foundation Rating (NRF rating is an added advantage).
    6. Evidence of the ability to lecture at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    7. Evidence of interaction/engagement with professional community and the society.
    8. Evidence of work experience in multicultural environments is an asset.
    9. Evidence of relevant industry experience is an asset.
