    Assistant Carer Supervisor

    Job Description

    • Faircape Health provides the full continuum of care at six world-class healthcare facilities located on-site at six luxury, retirement villages situated in prime locations across the Western Cape. 
    • We are currently seeking an Assistant Carer Supervisor (Night shifts) to join our team at our facility Tokai Estate in the Southern Suburbs.
    • The Assistant Carer Supervisor will ensure that the residents receive the highest standard of care and assist the Carer Supervisor in supporting and guiding the carer team in their day-to-day performance of their jobs.

    Responsibilities: 

    • Supervise and coordinate the carer team by ensuring they are within their allocated areas
    • Ensure the care team is consistently following patient care plans and completing daily charting accurately.
    • Monitor that the carers are following policies, procedures and reporting non-compliance to the Carer Supervisor.
    • Ensure that the carers respond promptly to call/panic buttons, and oversee that the accurate procedure is followed 
    • Assist carers with care tasks, activities, and exercises when necessary
    • Addressing staff queries and providing guidance and ensure resolution 
    • Monitor residents' condition changes that may affect care plans and communicate concerns to the Shift Leader.
    • Identify and escalate where carer training intervention might be required to the Carer Supervisor 
    • Submit daily handover reports and ensure carer equipment is distributed to staff and neatly stored in designated areas at the end of each shift 
    • Promptly report and document incidents.
    • Ensure patient inventory e.g nappies and toiletries are sufficiently stocked 
    • Perform weekly spot checks on resident rooms, equipment, and physical health.
    • Follow infection control procedures and conduct quality checks.
    • Ensure grooming photos, including hair, nails, and overall appearance, are taken and uploaded as required 
    • Ensure ongoing communication with the team to address any concerns regarding staff scheduled for the next day, and promptly escalate issues to the Carer Supervisor or Healthcare Administrator if necessary

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Education and Qualifications:

    • Grade 10 - 12 
    • Acknowledged carer qualification (advantageous) 

    Experience and Knowledge : 

    • Proven experience within a management/supervisory capacity 
    • Experience working as a carer would be an advantage
    • Possess strong and accurate computer and administrative skills to manage documentation and records efficiently
    • Understand key principles in caring for the elderly, including:

    Core carer competency skills

    • Dementia care
    • Palliative care
    • Rehabilitative care
    • Manual Handling knowledge & skills
    • Fall prevention knowledge & skills

    Locum Doctor

    Job Description

    • We are catering to patients in need of short-term, long-term, dementia, respite, and palliative care within a secure and nurturing environment.

    • Our Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) of leading healthcare professionals administers care in the most therapeutic environment possible and supports healing outcomes in all aspects. 
    • We seek a dedicated (Locum) Doctor to join and assist our team over the weekend by, prioritizing patients' medical stability and enhancing their rehabilitation progress. This role entails managing rehabilitation patients and addressing long-term geriatric needs, particularly focusing on rehabilitation from various conditions such as post-surgery recovery, acute hospitalisation, stroke, total hip replacement, and dementia. 
    • Collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary team of experts in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social work, dietetics and nursing staff to ensure a seamless transition to rehabilitation and safe discharge.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Upon patient admission, conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' medical conditions, including physical examinations, review of medical history, and diagnostic tests to develop appropriate care plans.

    • Provide urgent / emergency telephonic cover to the nursing staff in medical emergencies as needed, providing timely and appropriate medical interventions to stabilise patients' conditions and prevent further deterioration. No routine call outs from home are required.
    • Establishing connections and nurturing relationships with specialists who refer patients in Somerset West

    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
    • Experience and Knowledge 
    • Proven post-community service 
    • Proven experience in internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, palliative care is beneficial.
