    Rand Water Foundation Non-Executive Board Members

    Minimum Requirements

    • Minimum: An appropriate recognised Tertiary Qualification at NQF Level 7 or equivalent in the following: Non-profit Sector, Environment, Governance and Sustainability (ESG), Engineering, Accounting, Law, Audit, Risk / Compliance, Cyber Security and IT Governance, or similar fields.
    • Desired: An appropriate Recognized Tertiary Qualification at NQF Level 9 or equivalent.
    • At least five (5) years’ experience as a non-executive director within a governance centered organization, preferably in the Water Sector or related sector (s). Preference will be given to candidates with seasoned business / governance / professional expertise who have served on a Board and/or Board Structures in an executive / non-executive capacity, in of a private and/or public sector entity or an organisation similar to the Foundation.
    • At least three (3) years’ experience serving on an Audit Committee / board of an ESG / Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) / Not-For-Profit companies (NPCs).
    • Proven experience of at least 5 -10 years at Executive / Senior manager level, in an organization similar to Rand Water and experience interacting at Board/Committee level and demonstrable experience in navigating Board and / or management and / or boardroom dynamics. 
    • Project management experience, especially the management of large capital expenditure or infrastructure projects and water project management and understanding of the regulatory framework governing such projects.
    • Understanding of and appropriate knowledge and experience on the role of the Board, director’s fiduciary duties in accordance with the requirements the PFMA and WSA, King IV Code on Good Corporate Governance in South Africa (King IV), the Companies Act and other codes / legislation applicable to boards.

    Added Advantage:

    • Chartered Director (SA)® or Certified Director® or membership of a relevant professional body to demonstrate sound knowledge underpinned by the Director Competency Framework in line with the IoDSA or other professional body, as well as demonstrated depth and breadth of knowledge, skills and experience.

    Desired Candidate Requirements

    • Understanding of the governance compliance requirements relating to public sector entities, State Owned Entities and NPCs, including the statutory reporting obligations of an NPC of a State-Owned Entity (SOE).
    • Demonstrable understanding of the water sector and understanding of the compliance requirements relating to, inter alia, water service provision, (CSR) initiatives and the national water imperatives.
    • Seasoned CSR professional with extensive experience and requisite skills set in serving in a board / committee of a NPC, Development Trust, or State-Owned Entity (SOE) or private sector entity.
    • Demonstrable experience and track record in implementing and overseeing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) investments / initiatives and projects in public, private, community development and / or not for profit sectors.
    • Proven expertise in the boardroom set-up with demonstrated depth and breadth of experience to adequately oversee organisational turn-around strategies, risk management strategies and the ability and expertise to navigate a complex compliance environment;
    • Ability to manage a diverse range of Stakeholders.
    • Personal attributes of objectivity, integrity, emotional intelligence, sound professional reputation, commitment.

    PRIMARY DUTIES

    • Provide oversight on the governance and statutory requirements of the Foundation and ensure overall compliance with the applicable legislative and regulatory framework.
    • Exercise oversight on the implementation of the Foundation’s strategy, business model and the overall policies as applicable to the business
    • Contribute relevant technical and independent governance knowledge to assist the board of the Foundation to effectively discharge its mandate and to exercise its fiduciary responsibilities.
    • Promote accountability principles to ensure that the Executive Management of the Foundation achieves the organisation’s vision and financial sustainability.
    • Exercise independent oversight on the management of strategic risks within the Foundation and review the implementation of the required risk mitigation strategies by Executive Management.
    • Ensure the submission of the required statutory reports by the Foundation to Rand Water as Shareholder and / or other statutory bodies, in line with the stipulated timeframes and statutory compliance requirements.
    • Attend meetings of the board and committee (s) of the Foundation, in accordance with the approved Annual Corporate calendar of meetings and the approved annual work plans of the board and / or committees (s) of the Foundation.
    • Contribute towards and positively impact strategic level discussions during meetings of the board and/or committee (s) of the Foundation.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Supervisor Certification

    • Perform the fiduciary function of a registered Administrator, in terms of the Pension Fund Act.
    • Administration of a self-administered defined contribution fund.
    • EB system maintenance, Disability claims management
    • TIP payments and reconciliations, ensure Service Level Agreements with service providers are adhered to. ISO 9001 QMS converting processes and procedures.
    • Section 37C & 37D of the PFA is strictly adhered to, Savings claims compliant
    • Induction for new entrants and roadshows for investment, education and information sessions.

    Painter

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric or N3
    • Completed a recognized trade in Painting
    • 5 years’ relevant experience in civil field

    Primary Duties

    • Attend daily roll calls and briefing in allocated conference area.
    • Receive job allocations from immediate supervisor.
    • To prepare and perform work as per required standards and specifications.
    • To tidy up and clean work area when job is completed.
    • Required information record on job cards.
    • Fill in own and subordinate's timesheets.
