    Head: Financial Reporting

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES, MEASURES & INTERFACES

    • Under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Head of Finance will be responsible for:
    • Develop, maintain and implement proper operational controls for financial efficiency;
    • Ensure complete operational compliance with manuals and policies, Board and Management financial instructions and any applicable agreements/regulations;
    • Update the policies timeously with the changes in the regulations and instructions from Board and Management
      Ensure that proper books of accounts of ECIC are kept;
    • Ensure that financial reports (including performance analysis and statutory returns) are timeously prepared for stakeholders such as Board and Management, Prudential Authority, Financial Sector Conduct Authority, National Treasury, SARS and the DTIC;
    • Prepare the Annual Financial Statements in accordance to IFRS and ECIC’s accounting policies;
    • Ensure that all standing instructions requiring any input control or action by the finance department are met and observed precisely and correctly at all times;
    • Supervise the work performed by the Reporting accountant;
    • Manage relationship with internal and external stakeholders;
    • Co-ordinate with internal and external auditors;
    • Ensure compliance with tax legislation;
    • Responsible for the implementation of new accounting standards e.g. preparation of the implementation plan and related deliverables;
      Coordinate with the CFO on the best practice to manage ECIC financial resources ;
    • Keep the CFO fully informed at all times of any adverse or changed or unusual circumstances which may affect the corporation’s financial position.
    • Ad-hoc activities as requested by the CFO

    • Number of audit observations;
    • Compliance with procedural and legislative requirements;
    • Management of client relationships and key stakeholders;
    • Management of budget including operational expenses.
    • Timeous submission of accurate financial reports

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Qualified as a CA with strong technical expertise;
    • At least 5 year post article experience in a finance unit in a supervisory or management level. Preference will be given to individuals from the financial and/or insurance industry;
    • Excellent knowledge of information technology advanced EXCEL, AX Microsoft Dynamics or similar accounting system;

    Strategist (Re-Advertised)

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES, MEASURES & INTERFACES

    The incumbent will among other things be responsible for the following:

    • Lead the development, review and communication of the Corporation’s strategy.
    • Translate Board approved strategy into measurable corporate priorities and execution plans.
    • Coach and support every EXCO member to develop portfolio strategies linked to the corporate strategy.
    • Create a single integrated Corporate strategy map and strategic scorecard.
    • Drive strategic planning, annual planning and Board strategy processes.
    • Maintain the Corporation’s strategic initiatives portfolio and CEO priority projects.
    • Lead strategic analyses, market intelligence, scenario planning and opportunity identification.
    • Coordinate strategic partnerships, special assignments and cross-functional transformation initiatives.
    • Prepare high-quality Board, Board Committee and Executive Committee strategy papers.
    • Establish execution governance, dashboards, benefits tracking, issue escalation and course correction.
    • Implement CEO execution rhythm and performance reviews.
    • Provide strategic support during CEO absence, including coordination of priorities and stakeholder follow-up.
    • Design, implement and continuously improve ECIC's corporate strategy deployment and execution management system.

    • Corporate strategy approved by Board within the agreed time frame.
    • Three-year strategic roadmap maintained.
    • External trends, opportunities and risks continuously assessed.
    • Portfolio Strategy Alignment
    • KPIs, budgets and initiatives trace directly to Corporate objectives.
    • Monitors strategic initiatives and intervenes where delivery is off-track.
    • Provides monthly CEO and quarterly Board strategy reports.
    • Leads CEO special projects.
    • Manages confidential strategic work with the highest discretion.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • A postgraduate qualification in Economics, Accountancy, Finance, Banking, Business Administration or related field.
    • 12–15+ years’ experience in strategy, corporate development, management consulting or executive leadership.
    • Track record in leading corporate strategy and strategy execution in complex organisations.
    • Experience in engaging Boards, CEOs and Executive Committees.
    • Strong financial, commercial and analytical capability.

    Travel Offer (Re-Advertised)

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES, MEASURES AND INTERFACES

    • Assist with the day-to-day coordination and administration of travel arrangements in travel arrangements according to ECIC Travel Policy and applicable Treasury Instructions.
    • Process travel requests and coordinate flight bookings, accommodation, ground transportation, travel itineraries, visas (where applicable), and supporting documentation.
    • Serve as a point of contact for travel-related enquiries and provide support to travellers throughout the travel process.
    • Liaise with the appointed Travel Management Company (TMC), travel service providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and cost-effective travel arrangements.
    • Communicating travel bookings to travellers as required.
    • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the annual travel budget
    • Maintain costs and work within established travel budgets.
    • Reviewing travel invoices against bookings to ensure accuracy and compliance before submission for payment.
    • Track travel expenditure against approved budget by keeping a record of travel undertaken and costs incurred, confirming invoices and keeping track of the budget balance available annually.
    • Ensure timeous processing of invoices and that the travel credit card has sufficient funds and is reconciled to invoices.
    • Safeguarding and reconciliation of travel petty cash.
    • Manage and respond to customer service issues with all levels in the organisation in a timely and effective manner.
    • Conduct comprehensive and on-going reviews of the travel operations and travel policy to identify and improve process efficiencies and improve the traveller experience.
    • Support the Finance Unit by ensuring that all travel expenses and supporting documentation are submitted accurately and timeously for processing, recording, and reconciliation.
    • Assist with the development of travel and other business expense procedures.
    • Continuously improve processes and workflows to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • A three year diploma in travel, tourism or any other equivalent relevant qualification.
    • At least two years’ experience in corporate travel co-ordination.
    • Strong knowledge of domestic and international reservations process: faring, routing and ticketing procedures.
    • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
    • Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act in so far as it relates to travel and related matters.
    • Knowledge of MS Dynamix 365 and Workday Adaptive (or equivalent budgeting tool) will be advantageous.
    • Knowledge: Familiarity with travel industry booking systems (GDS tools) and relevant public or corporate finance regulations.
