    Financial Services Advisory - Technical Accounting Insurance_ Senior Manager

    Responsibilities include:

    • Supporting the development and implementation of the insurance strategy within Financial Services Advisory. This strategy is targeted at Tier 1 and Tier 2 insurers and requires a level of competence in the areas of insurance process accounting, IFRS 17, SAM, SC&E and regulatory reporting.
    • Delivering on the following service offerings to clients within the competencies listed below, with a specific focus on the Insurance Finance Reporting process: 

    IFRS 17 Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Advisory

    • Business impact assessments and gap analyses
    • Technical accounting opinions and advice
    • Development of financial reporting templates, financial statements and general ledger configurations
    • Development of stakeholder communication
    • Secondments to clients to support their IFRS 17, regulatory reporting and/or SAM processes
    • Leading implementation projects to embed IFRS 17 reporting into business as usual.

    Financial Reporting Remediation and Transformation

    • IFRS 17 implementation and financial reporting transformation projects, supported by the Deloitte Risk Advisory, Actuarial & Insurance Solutions, Human Capital and Tax divisions.
    • Redesigning of the finance function.
    • Working with Deloitte Consulting to define the finance strategy as well as designing and implementing changes to the finance processes and policies in Insurers
    • Developing expertise in other International Financial Reporting Standards that impact insurers, including IFRS 9, IFRS 13, IFRS 15 and IFRS 18.

    Training and Engagement management

    • Preparing and delivering of training material to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Actively supporting in identifying sales opportunities in the insurance market and contributing to the preparation of proposals/tenders and presentations for these clients.
    • Identifying innovative solutions on projects / engagements to enhance / renew service offerings to client.
    • Contributing to thought leadership and sharing of knowledge and expertise with clients, colleagues and teams.
    • Managing client engagements and maintaining oversight of all engagements / projects within sphere of responsibility.
    • Acting as a coach/mentor in developing team members and counselees on an ongoing basis.
    • Empowering team through appropriate delegation of work.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications / Experience required

    • Qualified CA’s / Senior Manager with 3 to 4 years’ post articles experience from a Big 4 Professional services firm or currently be working at an Insurer.
    • Must have prior Insurance Industry experience and be interested in implementing new accounting standards like IFRS17
    • Must have current technical accounting experience
    • Must be willing to invest time to skill up to be able to implement once training has been provided
    • Prior involvement in implementing a new accounting standard such as IFRS 9, 15 or 16 will be advantageous

    Financial Services Advisory: FSA (Credit Risk): Senior Analyst/ Consultant

    Job Description

    • To support FS Advisory Credit Risk Team in delivery of services to / at client premises on delegated engagements and projects. 

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:     

    • Undergraduate degree specializing in one or more of the following disciplines: Statistics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Actuarial Science, Engineering, Economics or Econometrics
    • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in banking, financial services consulting, or similar environment
    • Fundamental credit risk modelling capabilities including predictive modelling techniques
    • Basic understanding of the credit lifecycle, model risk management, Basel III regulations and the IFRS 9 standard
    • Computer literacy:  MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Coding skills: SAS, SAS (Enterprise Guide), R, and/or Python
    • Personal aptitudes: Reliable, diligent, accountable, teachable, collaborative, attentive to detail

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Development and calibration of credit risk models
    • Model validation, monitoring, and testing
    • Benchmarking credit metrics amongst peers in a market
    • Derivation of portfolio credit analytics
    • Review of client deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness
    • Communication of project challenges and outcomes with clients and team members
    • Drafting of project reports
    • Sharing of knowledge and skills with colleagues

    Financial Services Advisory: Valuations Manager

    Key Responsibilities

    • Building and reviewing derivative valuation models.
    • Take initiative in identifying and implementing process improvement where required.
    • Problem solving.
    • Issue resolution: technical (quantitative) and engagement related queries.
    • Knowledge sharing and team guidance.
    • Manage and oversee client relationships, fees and budgets.
    • Responsible for managing client delivery teams and overseeing their work.
    • Communicate upward and downward feedback on technical matters around IFRS or derivative valuations.
    • Assist in growing the profitability of the team and service offering.
    • Mentor and coach junior staff.
    • Project management on multiple clients across multiple industries with a focus on banking.
    • Research relevant industry topics.

    Qualifications

    Skills and Experience Required

    • Degree qualified in either Maths/ Stats/ Actuarial
    • Experience in Matlab an advantage.
    • Experience in VBA an advantage.
    • Strong MS Excel skills.
    • MS Word.
    • MS PowerPoint.
    • Good knowledge of accounting standards an advantage.
    • At least 4 - 6 years of practical experience and knowledge of the financial markets, with knowledge of the application of mathematics of finance.
    • Banking industry experience an advantage

     Key Competencies required:

    • Practical knowledge and experience with pricing of vanilla and exotic derivative instruments in a risk neutral framework is required.
    • Understanding and practical computational experience of of CVA, DVA, FVA and other xVAs where relevant is required.
    • Pricing of equity options falling within the ambient of BEE and share scheme transactions (IFRS 2).
