    Corporate Affairs Manager, Middle East & Africa

    About the role

    Haleon is seeking a dynamic and experienced Corporate Affairs Manager to join our growing team in Africa, with primary focus on South Africa. In this role, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing our corporate affairs strategy across the African continent, helping us build brand reputation, drive stakeholder engagement, and achieve our business goals. The role will be based out of South Africa (Johannesburg), with frequent travel across key African markets.

    Key responsibilities

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate affairs strategy for Africa region to support business objectives and optimise opportunities in the external environment, to building networks of key external stakeholders (media, policy makers, industry groups, patient advocacy groups, NGOs) with a view to shaping and supporting relevant public policy agendas in support of the industry and the business.
    • Position Haleon as a leading voice in the African healthcare industry. This includes managing both internal and external communications, identifying key issues and opportunities, and developing proactive messaging to mitigate risks and enhance reputation.
    • Champion and drive the design and implementation of programs to deliver on our ESG commitments with a focus on social impact.
    • Partner with wider BU teams to build integrated communications campaigns that educate consumers, media and policy makers and drive condition awareness to ultimately drive categories growth and brand penetration.
    • Work effectively with external partners (comms/PR/GA agencies) and internal stakeholders (Legal, HR, Regulatory, Commercial) to deliver against the strategy.
    • Represent (or identify and prepare company representatives) the company on industry trade associations and building trade association strategy across key markets (South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria).
    • Monitor external environment, track policy and consumer trends, spot risks and opportunities for business; deliver coherent environmental analysis to business to help shape corporate affairs plans and strategies.
    • Build sustained and productive engagement programmes, as well as executive profiling programmes that support and promote Haleon’s leadership.
    • Identify, manage and support local issues which may have an impact on Haleon’s reputation, developing proactive and reactive messaging to mitigate potential issues.
    • Provide strategic counsel to marketing teams on issues with potential to negatively impact the reputation of our brands.
    • Support cross MEA BU Corporate Affairs initiatives.
    • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practice to continuously improve the communication strategy.

    Qualifications and skills

    Essential

    • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. A specialization in Public Policy is a strong plus.
    • 8+ years experience in a similar corporate affairs role with a global FMCG. Experience in healthcare / pharma will be a plus, but not essential.
    • Experience in issues management and crisis communications.
    • Proven ability to develop trust-based relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders such as professional bodies, national governments and advocacy groups.
    • Strong stakeholder management and excellent people leadership skills, ability to influence effectively.

    Global Equipment Manager

    About the role

    The Global Equipment and Maintenance team is an exciting new function within engineering, which will drive improved performance and productivity across our manufacturing operations in QSC. It is envisaged that this team will comprise up to 5 Global Equipment Managers, based at strategic locations, who will provide world-class technical mastery for critical manufacturing and packaging operations, such as blister packaging and tube filling.

    We have a significant challenge to drive our global OEE up to a top quartile world leading fast moving consumer healthcare (FMCH) company. You will be interacting with 24+ sites across 6 different regional business units to deliver operational improvements and set the equipment direction for our substantial 5 year CAPEX plan.

    This is a unique opportunity for you to become our first ever Global Equipment Managers (GEMs). In this role you will be responsible for the standardization/reapplication of engineering equipment / process specifications of core manufacturing & packaging equipment across Haleon QSC. You will become one of 5 newly hired SME’s and be the go to contact within your core area of expertise, in either:-

    • Cartoner & Labeller
    • Blister Filling
    • Tube Filling
    • Tablet Compression
    • Casepacker & Palletiser

    Key responsibilities

    • This is an important matrix leadership role with the Global Equipment Manager expected to establish partnerships with key individuals (i.e., Engineering) at all applicable sites for the equipment for which he/she is accountable for and provide advice and recommendations when appropriate.
    • Is recognized globally as the principal point of contact (‘go to’ person) for all aspects of the end-to-end process, including key technical considerations such as operating principle/machine speed, maintenance, vendor selection, URS definition, IQ/OQ/PQ validation and PCCE.
    • As a first step within the role, defines best in class equipment specifications and vendors and subsequently works with Global teams (i.e., QSC Engineering, QSC Technical/Technology, QSC Procurement) to recommend standardization/reapplication for any new investments across QSC.
    • The Global Equipment Manager is highly knowledgeable about both the current status, history, and future advancements of the equipment for which he/she is accountable for and has a good awareness of the equipment installed across Haleon sites globally.
    • Facilitates the sharing of knowledge and advice (i.e., training, maintenance, OEE optimization, technical trouble shooting) for the equipment with Global production sites.
    • Supports the definition of common maintenance requirements, spares, and validation documentation for the equipment.
    • Responsible to executing the equipment innovation plan within a global 5yr masterplan as set by the Global Equipment and Maintenance Lead.
    • Responsible for overseeing equipment purchases, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency with a focus on delivering the highest OEE at the lowest operating cost as well as providing technical advice to global sites and contribute to capital reviews.

    Qualifications and skills

    Essential

    • BSc/BEng or equivalent level of qualification within Mechanical, Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering or other relevant discipline.
    • Working knowledge of production processes and equipment for the specified core manufacturing & packaging equipment.

    Preferred

    • Ability to engage and influence Site Leadership Teams, R&D, Category leadership, Quality and Operations to gain support for technical decisions.
    • Demonstration of problem solving, critical & innovative thinking skills.
    • Desire to drive change and process improvements.
    • Technical writing skills of business/engineering/scientific documents.
    • Knowledgeable in cGMP’s and general regulatory requirements.
    • Excellent matrix leadership capability to influence people and processes in a multi-cultural environment.

    • Good written and verbal communication skills.

    Detail Representative

    About the role

    • As a Detail Representative, you will be responsible for ensuring that World Class education and training is provided to appropriate HCP’s and experts, delivering key clinical messages so that the Haleon brands are the ones they most recommend, endorse and sell within the Dental Practice influencing sphere
    • You will be required to build sustainable relationships with targeted Healthcare Professionals and their practice staff

    Key responsibilities

    • To achieve Detailing objectives each Cycle, in line with Team/Marketing strategy
    • To achieve Selling objectives each Cycle, in line with set individual targets 
    • To ensure that comprehensive call planning is implemented for each call 
    • To ensure that the sales model principles are always adhered to in each call 
    • Complete company reports and records to agreed standards, bearing in mind the company’s SOP’s on PII and SPII, these will include Call reports, Field Coaching Reports, Competitor Feedback, etc. 
    • Complete all trackers for Samples, POS, etc. on a weekly and monthly basis 
    • Manage individual marketing budget for area per annum 
    • To develop territory business plan to accomplish objectives
    • To make professional/educational presentations to practice groups, professional bodies and any meeting as directed, CME’s, CPD Meetings, etc. 
    • Drive all company objectives identified within the overall Expert strategy
    • DeDetailing Representatives may be required to attend meetings, conferences and training courses that may entail overnight stays or evening work, incl. weekends
    • Territory Management and Coverage may entail overnight stay
    • Undertake any other duties commensurate with grade as required
    • Ensure that all My Learnings and SOP training is completed timeously
    • Agreed pass averages are achieved for product/detailing assessments 
    • Identify and forge relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and Influencers within the Healthcare Profession 

    Qualifications and skills

    Required

    • Matric
    • 3 year medical/science related tertiary degree/diploma
    • Relevant experience in industry(e.g. oral hygienist )
    • Computer Literate in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, One Drive, MS Teams

    Other Skills/Qualifications

    • Ideally 2 year’s successful experience in Healthcare Sales/Influencing role
    • Good communicator at all levels to an array of audiences
    • Excellent Negotiating & sales skills
    • Good IT skills including electronic detailing and selling
    • Good administration and organizational skills
    • Self-disciplined and demonstrates accountability
    • Good understanding of policy setting & decision-making processes in healthcare industry
    • Strong presentation skills
    • A sound understanding of the physiology and anatomy and application thereof
    • Strong inter-personal skills
    • High performer and results driven
