    Africa Strategy Lead - Midrand

    Key Responsibilities

    Act as the Project Lead for the Africa Breast Cancer Ambition (ABCA) (60%)

    • Sharing accountability with the Africa GMs and local country teams, the ABCA Project Lead serves as the primary point of contact and key driver, ensuring the direction and prioritization of business outcomes and initiatives towards the aligned vision of ABCA, serving as a Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, and Coach (VACC) for the Ambition
    • Proactively shape and communicate the strategic framing and priorities of ABCA with the Africa affiliates and the broader organization in order to ensure strategic alignment
    • Execute the strategy and plans of ABCA on a crosscountry level, including initiation and execution of work packages to address prioritized outcomes and ensures alignment of networklevel plans and priorities with the ABCA vision, global guidance, and local customer insights, patient needs, as well as market insights, data, and daytoday networklevel operational enabler work
    • Manage and allocate the ABCA budget, in partnership with ANET, and the ongoing monitoring of the impactof ABCA investments

    Act as the Strategy Lead for Area Africa (40%)

    • Act as a strategic advisor to the Area Head of Africa and the rest of ANET
    • Lead and/or support transformation and Area Africa strategy initiatives, including business plans and associated planning processes, strategic initiatives, and crossAfrica projects
    • Act as the initial Project Lead for the next strategic pillars in Africa, and help to determine the composition and needs of the broader team for strategic pillars
    • Develop and align project plans across key Africa and Global stakeholders
    • Translate insights into clear recommendations to support decisionmaking and own the creation of presentations to communicate it broadly

    Competencies, Mindset, and Behaviors

    • Strong VACC leadership competencies, with demonstrated competence and impact in leadership roles across the network, team leader or matrixteam lead for largescale projects/initiatives
    • Acute strategic thinking skills and a demonstrated ability for systemslevel thinking, with an entrepreneurial and enterprise mindset, and strong commercial acumen and skills (incl. P&L management, negotiations)
    • Strong communications skills and able to prepare concise presentations for internal and external communication
    • Strong influencing skills: can ensure the accomplishment of goals and targets through indirect leaderships

    Professional Experience Requirements

    • University/bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, MBA desirable
    • Experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology Industry in commercial, project management, and/or strategy and operations roles, including business leadership roles
    • Experience in strategy development and rollout at an abovecountry level
    • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
    • Strategy consulting experience a plus

    Head of Commercial - Midrand

    Key Challenges

    Sales Strategy and Execution

    • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and market share growth in assigned countries.
    • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify expansion opportunities; foster relationships with key customers and negotiate contracts for long-term partnerships.

    Profit and Loss Management

    • Take ownership of the P&L for assigned countries, monitoring financial performance and implementing corrective actions as needed.
    • Analyze sales data, pricing strategies, and operational costs to optimize profitability and ensure financial targets are met.

    Customer Support and Satisfaction

    • Establish and maintain exceptional customer support culture for high customer satisfaction and loyalty.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve customer issues, manage escalations, and enhance customer experience. Implement effective CRM systems and processes to track customer interactions for business growth.

    Management of Distributors

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive distributor management strategy, including channel partner selection, onboarding, and performance evaluation.
    • Provide guidance and support to distributors through training, sales incentives, and marketing campaigns to promote their success and growth. Monitor performance, implement improvement initiatives, and manage contractual agreements.

    Technical Support Team Management

    • Work closely with the technical support team, ensuring the provision of excellent support services to customers.

    Market Analysis and Expansion

    • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify business opportunities and risks.
    • Conduct market research, gather customer feedback, and share insights with stakeholders to assess feasibility and profitability for market expansion.

    Operational Excellence

    • Implement cross-functional processes and systems to drive operational efficiency, productivity, and quality.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and resource optimization, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and enhance overall efficiency.

    Staff Leadership & Management

    • Define staff requirements, resourcing the team by retaining, recruiting, selecting and appointing staff as required, inducting new staff members, monitoring and managing performance and managing staff development.

    Who you Are:

    • You have a NQF 7 / 8 in life sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Biochemical, Biomedical or related disciplines. 
    • You have significant (>15 years, ideally) experience of working across different functions of the diagnostics and/or healthcare industry and you have extensive sales and negotiation experience with 10 years experience in leading teams. You have experience in managing African markets and  distributors.
    • Other requirements: Ability to travel nationally and internationally.

    Professional Service Lead - Midrand

    Key Challenges

    Strategic and Operational Management

    • Contribute to the organisational strategic plan by providing key inputs and understanding the Pan Africa vision and develop the department's long-term strategy aligned with the overall organisational strategy annually.
    • Create integrated brand and operational plans by identifying projects, setting targets, and managing inputs.
    • Report on department performance by tracking targets and drafting reports.
    • Manage operational performance by identifying anomalies and implementing corrective action.
    • Professional Services Implementation and Management
    • Analyze market and product performance to develop differentiated solutions and maintain competitive advantage.
    • Manage professional service team readiness, including identifying and sourcing resources and skills, and engaging with other departments for timely deployment.
    • Track project team performance, engage with clients, address issues, and provide additional support as required.
    • Manage customer satisfaction index process, including reviewing feedback and compiling recommendations for submission to Global annually.
    • Act as a point of contact for escalated technical issues, demonstrating deep technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to customers.

    Professional Services Training

    • Manage training plan for customers, distributors, and employees, including identifying requirements, sourcing facilitators, and overseeing implementation annually.
    • Track customer training requirements, develop tracking mechanism, identify trends, and implement appropriate training to address skills gaps.

    Administration of the Department

    • Develop and maintain service contract frameworks, including defining services, contract types, and associated pricing.
    • Manage non-contract client processes, providing feedback and input on purchasing processes.
    • Contract and oversee external service providers, including sourcing, reviewing proposals, and managing contracts.
    • Define Service Level Agreement framework, integrating manufacturer specifications, Roche ISP standards, and standard SLA requirements.
    • Implement strategies for continuous improvement within the professional services department.
    • Participate in and manage department systems enhancement projects.

    Financial Management

    • Develop department budget: Identify activities and costs, prepare and submit the budget annually and as needed.
    • Manage expenditure: Track spend against budget, approve expenditure, address variances, and provide monthly feedback. Drive excellence and efficiencies by optimizing resourcing and spend.

    Governance

    • Participate in leadership meetings by preparing reports, presenting reports, answering queries, and implementing decisions as required.
    • Manage the development and implementation of policies and procedures by reviewing policies, identifying policy gaps, drafting policies, and managing the annual and as-needed implementation of policies.
    • Monitor compliance with policies and procedures, identify areas of non-compliance, address non-compliance, and track improvements as required.
    • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes by reviewing the landscape, identifying changes, analyzing and interpreting the impact of the changes, integrating the changes into the policies and procedures, and communicating these changes as required.
    • Manage the retention of ISO accreditation within the context of professional services by drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), monitoring compliance with SOPs, addressing any gaps or non-compliance, and implementing corrective action as required.

    Key Challenges

    Stakeholder Engagement Strategy

    • Develop and manage Stakeholder Engagement Strategy for Roche Southern Africa, aligned with the overall Pan African organizational strategy.
    • Lead the identification and development of networks of Key Opinion Leaders, Stakeholders, national and regional NGO's, and other Public Health Organizations.
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with national and provincial/state governments, their associated authorities, and relevant government departments.
    • Track, analyze, and report on significant changes within government departments that may impact Roche and the company's strategic portfolios.

    Advocacy

    • Advocate for policy amendment by building key networks, identifying and engaging with key decision makers, providing policy based inputs and support and facilitating policy amendments and development.

    Government Affairs and Public Health Organizations Relations

    • Lead the team in a manner that contributes to the success of the broader success of Roche on the African Continent.
    • Contribute to the broader development of the Network by driving appropriate innovation and disruptive approaches to ensure the competitiveness of the function and the broader Roche organization.

    Who you Are:

    • You have a NQF 7 / 8 in a relevant scientific or medical field.
    • You have 10 years experience in health sciences or equivalent with a strong track record in policy, market access, stakeholder engagement and/or government affairs. You have 8 years management experience and 2-3 years people leadership experience.
    • Knowledge of Africa healthcare systems will be advantageous.
