    VP Regional Controllership

    Objective of the role 

    • The VP of Controllership is a key leadership role in the AGA Finance team and will lead a team of high performing accounting professionals who are responsible for the accurate preparation of financial statements and analysis in accordance with IFRS, US GAAP and AngloGold Ashanti policies.
    • This is a newly created position, a global role, leading the Controllership teams across the Africa, Australia and LATAM regions. The Controllership team manages external reporting, are the stewards of AGA’s financial data and provide decision support to the Group and business units.
    • Working in a collaborative environment with finance business partners (FBP) and Group Finance, the team is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the validity, accuracy and completeness of all accounting, financial reporting, technical support and compliance services.
    • The VP Controllership will report to the SVP Group Controller .

    Education & Qualifications

    • Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in Finance field at a minimum
    • Chartered Accountant designation

    General Knowledge & Experience

    • 10-15 years in the accounting field, in a senior management capacity, mining experience preferred
    • Proven experience in large scale process improvement and business transformation
    • At least 10 years in a large multinational organization and leading global teams

    Role Accountabilities

    Director Mining Systems & Analysis

    Objective of the role

    • The incumbent will provide expertise globally in the fields of mining systems and analytics to support decision making, intervention and operational improvement for AGA’s open pit and underground mines.

    Education & Qualifications

    • A post-graduate degree qualification in a mining-related discipline.
    • A relevant business qualification (eg, MBA, financial course)

    Role Accountabilities

    Technical Accountabilities

    • Modelling behavior that is consistent with the AGA Safety Vision and Values, assisting in driving a culture where Safety is our first value, and providing support for incident/accident investigations where required.

    Provide systems, support and governance for the Mining Systems and Analytics function, including:

    • The development, maintenance and enhancement of fit-for-purpose Global Mining Dashboards. Includes implementing the associated processes required to provide insights for decision making, intervention and operational improvement for AGA’s open pit and underground mines.
    • Conducting analytics and demonstrated cases to support Operations in Business Planning and Integrated Planning process.
    • Providing standardisation of approach and governance for AGA’s Mine Control Systems. This includes defining minimum requirements, identifying improvements and supporting both new and existing implementations.
    • Conduct global reporting and data modelling processes for AGA’s open pit and underground mines. This includes identifying and monitoring progress against budgeted / forecast performance for all operations and ensuring timely, accurate and relevant reporting of mining KPI’s.
    • Implementing and maintaining AGA’s “Health of Mine” function.
    • Maintaining and enhancing Underground and Open Pit League Table processes.
    • Provide ongoing analysis of mining operational and cost performance and support Full Potential processes in these areas.
    • Facilitation & usage of simulation, machine learning and AI for mining analysis and improvement.

    Principal Geologist, Mineral Resources

    Objective of the role 

    • The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the strategic and technical management of the Mineral Resource Estimation discipline across AngloGold Ashanti.

    General Knowledge & Experience

    Safety 

    • A strong understanding of all aspects of a sites safety system and ability to manage the system components to ensure ongoing compliance.

    ​​​​​​​Data Analytics 

    • Designing and maintaining data systems and databases; this includes fixing coding errors and other data-related problems.
    • Mining data from primary and secondary sources, then reorganizing said data in a format that can be easily read by either human or machine.
    • Using statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.
    • Using combined knowledge of computer science and applications, modelling, statistics, analytics and maths to solve problems.

    • Assaying: Has a thorough understanding of the laboratory processes and is able to identify when an assay technique is not suitable.
    • Has a good knowledge of alternate assay techniques.
    • Can analyse QAQC results, identify substandard results and be able to engage with the laboratory manager on corrective measures. 
    • Database Management: Can add/subtract users and codes to the database, design and write reports.

    To support the governance, policy and leadership of Geological Modelling, Mineral Resource Estimation and Geostatistics discipline areas for Geoscience.

    • Assist with the development, improvement and maintenance of best practice Mineral Resource estimation related business systems (geological interpretation and modelling, resource estimation, geostatistics and reporting).
    • Assist with the management of Geological modelling, resource estimation and geostatistical fields within AGA, and provide expert advice and input to the Business Units and other functions.
    • Assist with the management of the Mineral Resource Community of Practice within AGA.
    • Actively take part in technology improvement projects between AGA groups and sites globally associated with wider mineral resource group.
    • Actively monitor Geological modelling, resource estimation and geostatistical tools and techniques to identify opportunities to improve methodologies, identify potential training requirements and facilitate/provide skills transfer and mentoring of Projects and BU personnel.
    • Collaborating with programmers, engineers, and organizational leaders to identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend system modifications, and develop guidelines for data governance.
    • Deliver direct technical input, support and expertise to M&A due diligence activities and project stage gate reviews.
    • High level support to the Mineral Resource and Ore Reserves process, including review and analysis of site/project Mineral Resource Technical Reports.
    • Active involvement with all Projects and Operations to review and provide guidance of mine site and project Geological modelling, mineral resource and geostatistical projects, methods and processes to ensure alignment/compliance to AGA standards and policy.

    Director, SOX Compliance

    Objective of the role 

    • The incumbent will be responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day activities of AngloGold Ashanti's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program to ensure adherence to Sections 302 and 404 requirements, reporting to the VP: SOX Compliance.
    • The Director plays a critical role in driving the strategic direction, design, execution, and continuous improvement of internal control over financial reporting (ICFR).
    • This role partners with cross-functional teams, including Finance, IT, Technical Mining Departments, Internal Audit, and External Auditors to identify control risks, evaluate deficiencies, and promote a strong control environment aligned with regulatory expectations and business growth. 

    Education & Qualification

    • Relevant post-graduate degree(s) in Chartered Accountant (SA).

    General Knowledge & Experience

    • Minimum 5 – 8 years of experience in SOX compliance and internal control design within a multi-jurisdictional public company or professional services firm (Big 4 preferred).  Preference will be given to mining experience.
    • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and USGAAP to identify and manage financial reporting risks.   Such experience in the mining sector will be beneficial.
    • In-depth knowledge of COSO 2013 framework, PCAOB standards, and SEC reporting requirements.
    • Familiarity with IT General Controls (ITGCs), system access and change management controls, and IPE (Information Prepared by the Entity).
    • Knowledge of key financial statement assertions, control testing methodologies, and deficiency evaluation criteria.
    • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating internal controls in accordance with SOX 404 requirements using the COSO 2013 framework.
    • Proven experience in presenting training on SOX related matters, such as SOX 404 and SOX302.
    • Demonstrated track record of managing and remediating deficiencies, significant deficiencies and material weaknesses.
    • Strong understanding of financial reporting processes, systems, and data flows.
    • Hands-on experience working with ERP and other financial reporting-related systems.  Specific experience with SAP, HFM (required), Nomos One, Workiva (beneficial).

    • Lead the planning, execution, and management of the company’s SOX 302 and 404 compliance program, ensuring timely and effective completion of quarterly and annual cycles.
    • Support the VP SOX Compliance in driving continuous improvement in SOX program maturity, scalability, and risk coverage.

    Risk and Control Assessment

    • Oversee the day-to-day activities, including scoping, risk assessment, and control identification process in collaboration with key stakeholders for final approval by the VP: SOX Compliance.
    • Evaluate new risks arising from organisational changes, acquisitions, systems implementations, or regulatory updates.

    Internal Control Design and Testing

    • Ensure proper design and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
    • Manage the control testing strategy, including reliance on management testing or internal audit, and ensure timely remediation of deficiencies.

    Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

    • Serve as a key liaison with external auditors, Internal Audit, Finance, Technical Mining Disciplines and IT to align on control testing, controls reliance, and deficiency remediation.
    • Support the VP: SOX Compliance in providing clear and timely communication to senior leadership and control owners on SOX matters, including deficiencies and remediation plans.

    Governance and Reporting

    • Prepare and present regular updates enabling the VP SOX to report to the CFO, SVP Audit and Risk, Audit and Risk Committees on SOX compliance status, key findings, and emerging risks.
    • Maintain documentation standards and oversee control certifications and quarterly sub-certification processes.
